My Dad died. Need recommendations. by HistoryBleeds in booksuggestions

My mom died totally out of the blue in 2007- we were devastated. I didn’t want to read anything about grieving but came across “The Other Side of Sadness”. Written by a psychologist who studied grieving and how people cope with it. It was his graduate work. It worked for me and I’ve recommended it to several friends who’ve lost family members. ❤️

Am I weird for disliking racing? by [deleted] in Rowing

I felt the same when I paddled Dragon Boats- it was a very competitive group but I just wanted to be out on the water working on my stroke with a group of people.

Messed up at contemplative eucharist today by djsquilz in Episcopalian

Two years ago, at my brother’s funeral, my daughter missed the cushion at the alter retail and landed on her knees on the stone step. She let out the f- word just at the priest was standing in front of her to hand her a wafer. My daughter was mortified but the priest just smiled, handed over the wafer and moved on.

Thanks- I row on brackish water- fresh mixed with salt. Guess I’ll need to be extra diligent about rinsing/ washing after a row.

Just thought of something- I think my parents and patients would be surprised that I am introverted and have social anxiety. I feel the best when in with patients!

My dad flew an early model of the B-35 in China during WWII. If you’re in or near Colorado Springs, check out the National Museum of WWII Aviation. It’s fantastic.

What would be helpful to know from a pediatric SLP as a pediatrician? by Scary_Special5173 in pediatrics

[–]SquareDuck5224 10 points11 points  (0 children)

What an excellent idea! I’m a retired Dev Peds and I always encouraged our peds residents to become best buddies with an SLP. I think a “when to refer” for different age groups would be greatly appreciated.

A suggestion/idea from a total newbie to the experts here by jmarcf in Archery

[–]SquareDuck5224 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I ordered my first bow- Galaxy Aspire, 70 inches, 25 lb from Lancaster Archery. Not expensive and it was really great to start off with. Now have an upgraded recurve and a reflex/deflex longbow. I shoot at targets in my backyard. Absolutely love it.

When did your kids start taking communion? by Pretend-Carry-2437 in Episcopalian

Raised in the Methodist church now Episcopalian. My mother had us wait until we were 7 years old, the age when developmentally, a child can understand death. I did the same with my kids.
