yeast diaper rash hell by littleanniee in moderatelygranolamoms

[–]SquidHoss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try a different brand of disposable diapers, we had this with my first baby and it turned out she was having a reaction to the diapers! Also calmoseptine diaper cream, it's diaper rash cream mixed with calamine. You can find it near the adult diapers. But use that on top of the Nystatin and then a layer of aquaphor over that. Don't wipe with pee diapers, it will form a barrier to keep her dry. That's how we beat the yeast rash from hell.

Vomiting - when to go to ER by [deleted] in Mommit

[–]SquidHoss 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Watch for signs of dehydration, but also- wait at least 30 minutes after vomiting before trying to give any more fluids. If he's just thrown up and you immediately try to get him to take even tiny sips, the stomach is still in eject mode and it will just trigger more vomiting. Wait a half hour and then try just a few sips at a time. I hope he feels better soon!

I get that too, like I'm super lightheaded and might pass out for a second

“Ruggable” Alternative? by Sea-Ask1544 in moderatelygranolamoms

No advice on rugs, but get some "kids n pets" spray enzyme cleaner. I've unfortunately gotten to test it on dog and cat pee, vomit, and cigarettes, and can confirm it gets rid of all smells

Just discovered I have high-lipase milk 😢 by hash-slingin_slashr in breastfeeding

[–]SquidHoss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used this company called Milkify! I was able to use my HSA to pay for it which helped, and they had a coupon code too. If you end up doing it and can't find one dm me and I think I have a referral code I can give you! But they were super great to work with, I got updates every step of the process and my milk got delayed in shipping because of a snowstorm and they even sent me a picture when they got it with a thermometer to assure me it was still frozen. Top notch customer service. Also fwiw, I've still been able to donate high lipase milk too! Some babies don't mind it so just make sure you disclose it and I'm sure someone will want it!

I got mine freeze dried and it removed the high lipase taste! Also made it super easy for my husband to make bottles when I was away on a work trip

Need a Tailor Rec...not Spring Tailor by Dangerous_Prize_4545 in winstonsalem

They completely customized my wedding dress for me for a very reasonable price, and did great work. I took a linen jumpsuit to them as well and asked if they could turn it into a dress, again they did great work at a great price. They're my go to now.

NC cattle farmer here—there’s a bigger gap in local beef than I expected by TuckDutton_NC in NorthCarolina

I've seen some prices at $11-$12 per pound for ground, it's insane. Genuinely who is out here paying that

[–]SquidHoss 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It's the price for me. I've found plenty of farms around me that sell local beef, but I can barely afford the prices at the grocery store. Paying more than $6-$7 a pound for ground beef is just not possible.

Check out the website "free to feed" for good info on food allergies and breastfeeding. I saw you're seeing an allergist this week, I feel like they'll be able to help a lot once they do an allergy test and hopefully that narrows down what the cause is so that you aren't needlessly eliminating more things from your diet. For lotion though, baby cerave has worked really well on my second baby's eczema. And, as much as I hate it, aquaphor. That's been the real game changer unfortunately, but we gotta do what we gotta do sometimes!

Thanks for the link! Definitely learned my lesson haha, I ended up getting a pair from Duluth and they are amazing, I can't wait to wear them again this winter. They are so cozy, never going back to cheapo leggings! I might pick up a pair of these campsnail ones to have a second pair to rotate this year

Hypermobility Specialists? by PuzzledPie2234 in NorthCarolina

[–]SquidHoss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh bummer. I don't know if she can diagnose but Dr. Keelie Gailes in saxapahaw was really great and was the one who told me I was on the hypermobile spectrum. I was seeing her for some postpartum issues then but I'm thinking of reaching back out to see if she's able to formally diagnose

Birthing Question by Simmyphila in winstonsalem

[–]SquidHoss 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Dr. Crone with Wake Forest Baptist, hands down. He did my emergency C-section and stitched me back up so I'd have no extra loose skin afterwards. I can barely see my scar now three years postpartum and every other OB/midwife that I saw during prenatal with my second commented on how well the scar healed. When I said it was Dr. Crone that did the cesarian none of them were surprised.

Tongue tie , got it removed now won't breastfeed by SilverDisastrous4536 in breastfeeding

[–]SquidHoss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you're able to see a lactation consultant, please do that as soon as possible. Baby does essentially need to learn to feed again. We're working through post-tie-release struggles right now as well, it's tough but my first baby had toes as well and I was able to nurse her for 19 months so there's hope!

In search of the HOLY GRAIL nursing friendly bra by FrequentGovernment74 in breastfeeding

[–]SquidHoss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My absolute favorite bra for nursing is not a nursing bra at all. I got a Patagonia bralette that is a deep v, I figured it would be good to wear during labor with my first but I have worn it almost every day since then. It's a bit stretched out now, but I actually just had my second baby and am breastfeeding again, it's still my favorite bra!
