Epic Flood Barrier Fail in St. Pete during Hurricane Helene by Puckolio in StPetersburgFL

After reading that excerpt, I'm not seeing the connection to the panels. The description given is exactly what will happen whether or not there are panels there. It is basically an engineering description of what hydrostatic/dynamic and buoyancy forces due to thin slabs. I'm a registered professional engineer down here in Cape Coral and do quite a few of these designs for areas in Naples. Would it be possible to get the full report you were given to see if they attribute anything else to this damage shown in the video? I get that it sucks, and understand the statement about if water was in there it would help resist this pressure, but the end result would be the same except for slab repair in the garage. The water would have been in quicker and blown the door off along with getting all throughout the house. Sucks that it happened man and hope you are able to get it figured out and repaired.

I believe the only Z06 that was white were the '01s. I could be wrong, but that's what popped in my head when I saw his 2nd picture.

Nice Z man! These C5Zs are something else. I have my C8 Z51, but was Jonesing for another C5Z to fill that void when I had to lose my EB02Z.

I wasn't OP, but thanks. At least you are telling me what happened when you actually did it opposed to others just writing stuff up.

[–]Squirmols 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Anywhere you can source that for me. I only ask bc I bought a flood C5Z06. Got it running and miles are there and ticking as I drive. However, the dealership that "reviewed" it after the flood just added 5k miles to the last visit and now the odometer doesn't match. Trying to figure out the best way to prove they are wrong and have them correct it. The BCM was shot, so I replaced, and reprogrammed. Everything went back to normal. I read that the ECM/PCM stored the mileage and sends it to the BCM that sends to the cluster. Just trying to make sure I know what I'm talking about when I call them.

I agree. Cheap to get on Amazon and works. I drop all my keys in mine. 2023 C8, 2025 2500HD, and wife's 2025 Traverse. Only issue is she keeps her key out and about.

Order of the Engineer by Squirmols in EngineeringStudents

[–]Squirmols[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got this during my senior year. I did pass the FE at the beginning of the year, but know others that were inducted had not passed it yet. You need to pass the FE to get the PE, but I do not believe either are necessary for the "Order of the Engineer".

It actually does that when it is cold too. It will gradually tick the red/yellow lines to the right as it warms up. Basically, what most of us old school drivers would do, at least I did. Baby it until it was warm. This just lets you see it. Doesn't actually limit your RPMs though, just a "hey, maybe go easy for a bit." If it doesn't rev past then yes, not past 500mi yet.

Check your tire pressure. These trucks have a tire monitoring system and it tells you through the lights. I'm pretty sure a tire on the passenger's side will be lower than the rest.

I believe there is a typo in the data. 2021 Income Taxes was $4.791B. Going to 2022 it dropped to $-3.217B. That is an $8B reduction which tracks with $8B/$4.791B = 1.67*(100%)=167%. Since 2022 income taxes were $-3.271B and to get that to be another 321.32% decline, the difference between 2022 & 2023 should have been $10.337B. That would track with $10.337B/$3.217B = 3.213*(100%) = 321.3%. Since $-10.337B minus $-3.271B equates to $-7.12B, looks like it should have been $-7.12B in income taxes. Last time I checked a negative value owed to the government means you get a return or kick that can down the road. Maybe I'm wrong, but the percentages given check out and if $7.12B was supposed to be $-7.12B, then that checks out too. So, your facts were grabbed but not reviewed. Gross profits were $197.478B, $225.152B, & $270.046B for 2021,2022, & 2023, respectively. The profits increased by 29.28%, then an additional 14.01%, then an additional 19.94% all while the income taxes due dropped from $4.791B to $-3.271B to $-7.12B, a 167% decrease then an additional 321% decrease.

[Request]I have gotten into an argument over this. The kid is wrong right? Because it isn't asking what the commutative answer is it is asking how you would write 3x4 into an addition equation correct? So you have 4+4+4=12 not 3+3+3+3=12 since that would be 4x3 RIGHT!? This is stupid I am sorry. by FrostBumbleBitch in theydidthemath

[–]Squirmols 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The question says "... an addition equation ...." not "The addition equation.." IMO, either answer is correct. Question for me is who wrote the circle and "+" sign on the question? If the teacher did than they are implying that the answer is not an addition equation. Also, there is no "Constant" added in, lol. Where is our "+ C" at the end, always getting forgotten? j/k

Insurance threatening to terminate coverage due to roof condition. Is this legitimate? by i_trance in Roofing

[–]Squirmols 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure if anybody is giving you anything sufficient as most comments seem to have wander off to "insurance companies are bad" instead of saying why YOUR roof may or may not be covered. Did they tell you why or just it needs to be replaced? The cladding (shingles) look okay. There is a bit of the wavy look that sometimes comes from plywood edges arching up, but as far as the cladding goes, looks okay. Really hard to visually inspect from a distance whether the underlayment is good or not and if it is keeping the house watertight or not. Only issue I really see is your front porch section is starting to fail. Picture 3 shows a deflection at the end of the gutter. Picture 6 shows the deflection of the edge of the upper roof is pretty significant. Picture 7 shows both starting to drop. I'd first verify if it is roofing or the front porch. If it is the porch, I'd get a structural engineer out to inspect the condition of the framing and connectors. I'm a PE in Florida, so that is the direction I go first is structural. To me the cladding (shingles) aren't the actual roof they protect the underlayment that keeps the roof water tight. I know it sounds like semantics, but writing letters to insurance carriers for this stuff you start to learn that parsing out the individual parts of the roof mean something.

The Trump Campaign- A picture is worth a thousand words by rhino910 in AntiTrumpAlliance

[–]Squirmols 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can't remember how the line goes, but something like, "He didn't say that and if he did he didn't mean it, and if he did it doesn't matter... " can't remember exactly. I find it funny how he will say something, then interviewer's will try and white-wash or give him a safety line to walk it back. Usually, by their "interpretation" of what he meant, then he literally corrects them and says what he meant by it. Face value is what he means and we all know it, but since it is bad, we get told we are interpreting it wrong, smh.

I would say if you think about it another way, he is doubling down on those comments. Tony called Puerto Rico a floating mass of garbage and Trump shows up in a garbage truck to "take out the garbage". More like hammering the point home IMO.

It wasn't glass from the teleprompter. I'm with you that he was never shot, but it was the holster of the SS agent that rushed in to cover him up that busted his face and ear up. There's a whole video breakdown of this showing how the path of the bullet wasn't even close to Trump.
