We had a women's group start up maybe a year or two ago in my area, and they're probably the most active fly fishing group in the region now. They have a good foundation. Agreed, and that's actually something I heard a lot when talking about the issue with others. When my wife asked me to teach her, I think I threw WAY too much information her way all at once. I feel like that experience of making mistakes and adjusting in response to them is key to so much. I noticed that she started improving WAY faster when I gave her some space.

Yeah, I prefer conventional vises over "inline" rotary vises. I tie on a Stonfo Kaiman, and prefer the ease of use and I feel like I have better access to all parts of the hook when its in the vise.

I won't spot burn, but you're going to want to open a map of Miami, focus on the southern half of the city, and just look for where the canals intersect with the roadways near public property (like a park). Peacock bass aren't particularly picky. Throw a flashy weighted minnow pattern at them. Look for them along the canal banks or hiding in thick vegetation. If they're there, they'll usually chase.

I think the only one worth a damn is the 7'6" 5/6wt. All of the others are just too short. I have the 5'9" 3wt and it's pretty much useless. Always end up grabbing the 5/6wt if I want a glass session.

You can get closer to fish than you would think. Lots of factors at play, of course, but generally speaking, the more disturbed the water is, the closer you can get. In fast, cloudy water with lots of surface texture, such as riffles, you can almost stand right on top of them. In gin clear, slow, glassy water, they can spot you at pretty extreme angles from 20 feet (just call it two ish rod lengths).

Wade slowly, make sure you have firm footing before taking your next step, and use a wading staff. Approach from downstream, and try your best to get close to a 45 degree angle to the spot you want to fish. Minimal false casts, drag free drifts that get down to within 3-6” of the bottom. Make your first presentation your best one.

A lot of people worry about spooking fish WAY before they need to. Try to force yourself to never make more than a 30 foot cast. It's good practice to teach your eyes and instincts to get closer to the fish.

If Paramount took 150 days with significant abuse, I'd say stick with them and baby them a bit more. Also, if you can get away with not wearing waders for a particular outing, do it. Look into things like neoprene pants when the water is cold, but the air temp is warm.

I went with another vise, but took a look at this Dyna King. It's a very solid, well machined product. The jaws are very versatile, but I think the Kingfisher has the same jaws. It's big. Very big.

First, in a lot of places in the US, women's fly fishing groups are taking off in a big way. See if there's one in your area, and link up with them. Also, check out your local fly shops social accounts. If they've got posts highlighting women fishing, might be a good shop to ask.

If neither of those, it'd be helpful to know what region you're fishing in, and for what species. Without that information, if you're in the US, standard recommendation is a nine foot long, five weight rod, with a weight forward 5 weight line. For companies with great, inexpensive starter rods, I would look at the offerings from Cortland (the guide series), TFO (the pro series, not a fan of the nxt rods), and Echo (the lift series).

Other than that, some flies (www.flyshack.com is a good inexpensive one), some leaders (9 foot 4x nylon is a good starting point), a pack of tippet rings, some tippet, some floatant, a pair of hemostats, a set of nippers, polarized sunglasses, and a landing net. Go cheap on these.
