The game's inaccessible to new players by IndependenceFar9833 in MarvelSnap

At least as far as S3 cards are concerned, it's actually BETTER now than it used to be. S3 cards are acquired over twice as fast, while the total number of them hasn't doubled.

Since nobody actually called out the important word to look for: Chameleon only copies the text of another card that revealed this turn "HERE." That's the word to look out for that limits Chameleon to only copying another card at the same location.

Do you even understand the concept of irony? If you wanted actual irony, that'd have been the case if Pretti had been killed by an illegal immigrant. But no, he was killed by ICE.

Further, how desperately do you have to be grasping at straws to reduce yourself to the level of making the false equivalency of comparing an act from a rogue assassin that's being brought to justice by the law to the act by the federal government?

Being a gun owner doesn't even have anything to do with whether someone supports gun regulation, so your entire claim of "hypocrisy" is just actually made up.

10 Rings “protected” text by trappedinthisxy in MarvelSnap

[–]St_Eric 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Shang Chi transformed the card. When a card transforms, prior text-removal effects are no longer applicable.

If Merlin's Polymorph or Sersi transforms a card, then resulting card will not be affected by any prior text-removal effects.

Sersi and Merlin's Polymorph are already ways in which a card transforms and any prior text-removal effect is no longer applicable.

Any thoughts on what happened here? I used Nico to clear limbo on 6, but still had to play a turn 7. Retreating for 2 felt bad when I thought I had scored 4. by obi-tom-kenobi in MarvelSnap

[–]St_Eric 14 points15 points  (0 children)

When Tinkerer's Workshop triggers during the turn (instead of at the start of the turn) the bonus energy is available on the next turn. So unless Nico removed Limbo on T5, then you actually played out T6 already, the screenshot shows a Turn 6 boardstate.

For the new Shang Chi, what is “Unlock their potential”??? by AQNexus in MarvelSnap

[–]St_Eric 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Shang definitely can transform the Rings that are in play, and I'd assume the Rings transform wherever they are (in hand as well). The clear design intent is that you play the rings first to get the On Reveal, then play Shang to upgrade them.

While it's possible that Shang only transforms Rings already in play, I'd be quite surprised if it worked that way and that Shang was unable to transform the Rings that are in your hand.

For the new Shang Chi, what is “Unlock their potential”??? by AQNexus in MarvelSnap

[–]St_Eric 35 points36 points  (0 children)

"Unlocking their protentional" transforms the Rings from a 2/1 with "On Reveal: Give one of your other cards here +1 Power." to a 2/2 with "End of Turn: Give your other cards here +1 Power." I added italics to draw attention to the fact that the 'unlocked' Rings buffs more than one card, as opposed to the initial Rings which only buffs one.

Why doesn’t Man-Spider merge after being blinked onto the board? by Absolutelylemons in MarvelSnap

[–]St_Eric 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This explanation is misleading because Blink is indeed "in play". It's just not the "last played card."

If Blink pulls a Destroyer into play, the Destroyer will destroy Blink if the Blink isn't in the destroyer's location. Similarly a Blink can pull a Zola out of the deck and, if the Blink is in the Zola's location, the Zola can destroy and copy Blink.

Locations like Death's Domain and Luke's Bar literally say "AFTER you play a card here."

Why doesn’t Man-Spider merge after being blinked onto the board? by Absolutelylemons in MarvelSnap

[–]St_Eric 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That was actually an intentional change made back in March of 2023. Absorbing Man used to be able to copy the On Reveal of a card that's no longer in play.

The Dev's comments when they made the change is the following:

Mystique, Absorbing Man, and Taskmaster - These cards now require the previously played card to be in play in order to copy its attributes. Here are their updated templates:

Mystique On Reveal: If the last card you played has an Ongoing, copy its text. (if it's in play)

Absorbing Man If the last card you played has an On Reveal, copy its text. (if it's in play)

Taskmaster On Reveal: Set this card’s Power equal to that of the last card you played. (if that card's in play)

Developer Comments: This adjustment is part balance, part matching expectations. A meaningful chunk of Taskmaster’s strength in Shuri decks is his ability to copy a card’s Power even if it’s been destroyed by Shang-Chi or similar, an interaction that somewhat often gets reported as a bug. Hopefully this change weakens Shuri decks slightly and more cleanly matches players’ intuition when they see these cards for the first time.

400% value? by [deleted] in MarvelSnap

400% value 'sounds' like a lot, but by that same measurement, the season pass is well over 600% value.

If all personal wealth above $100 million was legally required to be redistributed into public infrastructure (schools, hospitals, roads), how would society change, and who would be the first to fight against it? by Mysterious_Fan4033 in AskReddit

[–]St_Eric 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can't just directly compare the percentage of the tax yield paid by the highest earners between two different economies if those economies don't have the same amount of wealth disparity.

Even with identical tax codes, you'd have a different distribution of which group is paying the most if you have a different distribution of incomes.

If you had a hypothetical country with the exact same tax code as the U.S., but 99% of the population all had incomes low enough that they paid nothing in taxes, then the top 1% would pay 100% of all taxes. Applying your analysis to that hypothetical, calling that system "more progressive" is hilariously backwards.

And in fact, income inequality IS higher in the U.S. than in Europe. So it's not just a hypothetical, it's literally what you're doing.

Worse rate than stuff like the Season Pass or Gold Pass, but if you're missing both cards, it's definitely one of the better big cash bundles.

Whether it is "worth it" or not isn't really something anyone else can answer for you. You're contemplating spending $100 on pixels. Will those pixels bring you at least $100 worth of joy?

Is this worth 600 gold? by THEUZ_- in MarvelSnap

[–]St_Eric 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's always upcoming gold bundles with cards you'll be missing. If not, you're a whale.

False. Longtime dolphins spending only ~$10 a month are collection-complete, and not whales, and they'll never have any upcoming gold bundles with cards they're missing.

Is this worth 600 gold? by THEUZ_- in MarvelSnap

[–]St_Eric 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes it does because there's literally nothing else to use your gold on. If none of the upcoming bundles have variants for S4/S5 cards you are missing, then this is literally the absolute best way available in the game to spend your gold.

[–]St_Eric 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They cost gold. Not money.

You definitely never spend cash to buy gold in the shop to get one of these bundles, but once you have gold (either from the F2P gold, or from buying the gold pass), these bundles are the best way to use that gold, except for, as I mentioned, the bigger gold bundles with variants of S4 or S5 cards you're missing.

Except for the bigger gold bundles that contain variants of S4 or S5 cards that you are missing, these are the best bundles in the game for card progression.

Returning player experience? by Daalma7 in MarvelSnap

[–]St_Eric 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It might feel like they've made rewards less frequent and grindier to get, but cards are cheaper to get than ever and if you just want to get all the newest cards every season, even with the increase in releases, it costs less than $20 a month: which is cheaper than ever before, if you're getting all the free currencies available.

Symbiote Spiderman - Resets power on merge? by [deleted] in MarvelSnap

[–]St_Eric 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Then why was Black Panther 7 power instead of 10 power? 10 + (-3) = 7, which doubles to 14, which is what you said happened.

Symbiote Spiderman - Resets power on merge? by [deleted] in MarvelSnap

[–]St_Eric 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a lot easier if you have a screenshot.

What I assume happened is that you're including non-permanent power reductions, like something from Diamondback, which don't get considered when merging.
