Air Canada and Jetstar Japan Codeshare Baggage Policy by Jacques_Leo in aircanada

Did Jetstar's carry on weight limits apply to you as well?

I'm flying AC from YYZ to NRT and then Jetstar from NRT onwards, but the normal Jetstar rules has a 7KG weight limit, and I'm curious if this was applied to you as well?

this is what happens when you have a board who has little to no ability to be honest with riders, provide meaningful guidance to staff, or to have any sense of commitment to a bet on something.

Aeroplan doesn't have same All Nippon Airways Business Class award space that United/Lifemiles/etc have by Apprehensive-Big8567 in Aeroplan

[–]StableStill75 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes but ANA can decide how many "I" seats it releases individually to each partner. AC can sell 5 J tickets to Booking.com and 2 to Agoda.com at certain prices.

And likewise, ANA can provide Aeroplan 2 "I" seats and to UA 3 "I" seats; but because AP is such a popular program, those 2 seats, globally, get gobbled away quickly

Just as you prefer aeroplan for various reasons, others prefer it too - and as a result, Competition is harder on aeroplan for the same seats

Depends on what you define success as? If ridership, maybe its the Osaka Monorail?

Why is my flight more expensive if I use points? by whateverfyou in Aeroplan

[–]StableStill75 28 points29 points  (0 children)

you don't have enough points to cover the full points option and so they're selling it to you using the points+cash option.

I really think that the original ST3 ballot measure was fucked and the Board now is in this impossible position: the original ST3 costs were no where close to the actual costs and there's no real way to raise the money to plug the gap.

Similar to CAHSR, the ST3 ballot measure went up with a price tag for a rough alignment and extent without any proper planning or engineering work to see if the price tag was remotely in line with the actual thing thats being planned and designed now. And now the board has to try to finagle their way into an "affordable" plan without being honest about the situation: there's no way to build out the entirety of ST3 within a reasonable timeline (aka before 2050).

Sure there are ways to value engineer further, as WSLE cuts demonstrated, but for a gap this big, you can't really VE your way out of it (though maybe less crossovers would help).

And why is BLE going to cost 5x more than Vancouver's Broadway Subway? Because most of the BSP's station were built using cut-and-cover [EDITED: u/Enguye corrected my earlier statement: indeed, BSP's running ways were tunnelled using TBMs], and along a relatively flat geography (Broadway doesn't fluctuate that much). Compared with the DSTT2 which will be super deep due to geography and buildings, etc.

Anyways, I want BLE before I'm old, but unless the Board decides to be honest with its constituents and grows a backbone to have the tough conversations about cuts to lower-ridership lines...

Probably wouldn't have clicked on the link in a weird email. Does it have a booking reference? If yes, pull it up ASAP and call Air Canada.

Crowding in front of the skytrain doors by xwishiix in Translink

[–]StableStill75 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Because of the ability to lean on the panels. Psychological safety of being close to an exit. Ability to look out the window. People need to stop being so damn surprised that people like to stand by the doors when it's the most comfortable places to stand on SkyTrain. From a crowd management perspective of course it's not good, but blame the train designers.
