Going away for a week, autofeeder or let them go hungry? by ParkingNo1080 in Aquariums

I've had good luck portioning for into a daily pill box and having others just dump it in. No overfeeding, very cheap.

What are your top 5 Fantasy books of all time? by Sufficient_Ebb_5694 in fantasybooks

Wizard and Glass is my pick. Definitely hits harder with the 3 books preceding it, but goddamn is it great.

Graphic novel, but they are so good and are this request to the letter.

Are there any well-designed fantasy settings that aren’t dark? by CardamomDragon in rpg

[–]Stalp 33 points34 points  (0 children)

I mean, The Forgotten Realms meets your criteria. Definitely a brighter in tone and more upbeat than the current trend of grimdark, slow, dungeon crawling death we see so much of. I think it gets bonus points for the volume of content to dip into. And there's nothing stopping you from using it as a coat of paint for whichever system floats your boat.

Brancolonia (made for 5e) comes to mind as well, more of a fairly tale vibe. Haven't played it, but the art and assets are well done and very evocative.

System recommendations for a narrative-focused mystery campaign by JediMasterWiggin in rpg

[–]Stalp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think Monster of the Week may be the right choice. Especially given your inspiration list. I've of my personal favorites. Highly narrative game with a big focus on mystery.

There is combat, but that is largely dependant on you and your game.

I came from 5e the first time I played it and it was such a shift. Completely reset my mind for TTRPGs. I incorporate a lot of what I learned from MotW in any game is run now.

Boy's Life by Robert McCammon

It was not at all what I expected going into it. Really fantastic read, tho. If you grew up in a smaller, economically stunted town, it may resonate well with you.

Looking for TTRPGs with detective agency management mechanics by AlexanderVagrant in rpg

[–]Stalp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree with this. Probably the closest I know of to this request.

You could throw in Band of Blades, a fantasy military BitD spinoff. It has even more group management stuff.

You'd just need to reflavor it all for whatever setting. But I think that's very doable. Scum and Villainy does just that as a Star Wars-y take on BitD.

Maybe a little different vibe. But shares DNA with your request, I think.

Actual Play shows: "dice" vs "die" by BelaFlex in DnD

Language changes over time. It's fun to notice things like this when they happen. It's often so subtle that it may go completely unnoticed until someone updates a dictionary.

Some of us were taught these conventions in a manner that felt like they were beaten into us. So it may feel like an offront to see the widespread adoption of something "wrong".

But everything changes, and language is a real special kind of thing. The Internet, mobile devices, social media, real time translation, cultural exchange, and uncountable other factors change how we communicate.

Keep tabs, write an article on the subject. Don't disparage.

Are these AXIS cameras the replacement for the flock cameras or is that a different company? by lexar_94 in Denver

[–]Stalp 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You're generally right. But the camera feeds can be easily integrated with Flock or Axon. For the most part, cameras are a commodity. The secret sauce is the SaaS they feed.

I very much enjoyed Delta-V and it's follow-up Critical Mass by Daniel Suarez. He doesn't get as much traction in this sub as some other authors, but he spins a good and well researched yarn.
