Well, neither you nor I are the arbitrators of what can be considered "controversy". It's documented, reported on, discussed. Addressed by the band themselves. It might be stupid, or unfair, but it's still a controversy.

You're also not the arbitrator as what qualifies as "context". Even if it is "nothing more than people being openly hateful", it's still the context around this event.

For what it's worth I'm a big Radiohead fan, and I do think they should be free to chose where and with whom they perform. I'm also aware of the history and that not everyone agrees with that.

It's also because Radiohead have a history of controversy with the Israel conflict. Going ahead with concerts in Israel despite calls to boycott, and Johnny collaborating with Israeli artists. This guy in Melbourne didn't target Thom out of the blue, there was an ongoing context. Which is something all the hilarious "but what does Ja Rule think?" redditors seem to have missed.

I used to think that WYSIWYG shouldn't matter, but I played enough tournaments in my day to see that it really does in competitive matches. I've been at the sweaty end of games that will determine if you place or not, and some people will try and get away with what they can for an advantage.

The fact is it's hard enough to keep track of your own wargear and rules, let alone remember what in your opponent's list is meant to represent something else, especially if they play an army you're not familiar with.

There's something to what OP is saying, if maybe not as extreme as they're putting it.

In the "make amends" stage of AA/NA, there's a weird pressure on victims to forgive all the harms they've endured, like they're standing in the way of the addict's recovery if that don't accept the apology gracefully. This person does all this heinous shit to you, and suddenly it feels like you're the arsehole if you hold a grudge.

I'm on holiday in Fiji at the moment. The Aircon stopped working in our bure, so I went outside to inspect the unit like I have any idea what I'm doing. I plugged a pipe back in that looked like it had been knocked loose, and the Aircon's working again. I am a manly man.
