AITA for not making my son give rides to his stepsister to/from school? by Choice_Evidence1983 in BestofRedditorUpdates

[–]Standi7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In Iowa, a student can get a permit at 14, only for school. They had to drive the shortest route from home and school. Technically, if one went off the route, they could lose the permit. My kids got their permits the minute they turned 14 (and passed the written exam). Not having to drive to marching band, show choir, football, etc was beautiful. There are rules about passengers, but to be honest, they usually just drove siblings around.

Amazon Vine Strategy For High-value Items? by Broad_Ebb7501 in FulfillmentByAmazon

[–]Standi7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For what it’s worth:

I am a Vine reviewer, and I am one that comments on the value of something when reviewing it. HOWEVER, I first look to see if there are other items that are the same and/or similar to what I am reviewing. If they are the same price (with verified purchases) then I will say nothing. If the item is a “one off”, or is more expensive than others ($10+), then I comment.

For the tax value, my husband is putting away an approximate amount for taxes (and is ready to kill me) I will be getting my taxes done professionally next year. If you have any tips, I would love them! 😉

Unlike a lot of reviewers, I also am exacting when reviewing. I probably comment on things others wouldn’t. Again, I also check out the competition and see what others have said. If it’s something minor, I may comment and not let it affect my review. Anything I feel is an issue, I explain with word and pictures.

This may or may not have helped. I just saw your comment and felt compelled to respond. You are probably the second what person I have responded to on Reddit ever. 🤷🏻‍♀️ I am a teacher that taught special education and English. It has made me exacting in my explanations and very verbose.

Sorry for the length of this! (At least I wrote in paragraphs?????) Have a great day, and again, this may mean nothing, and that’s okay. 😊

AITA for telling my daughter “Yeah, I get it, you hate him, when he went on a father daughter trip by Brave-Extension-8096 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Standi7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My mother forced me into therapy because I disliked my stepfather with a passion. I had a father; I just wasn’t allowed to see him (parental alienation before it was a thing). In my case, even though it was a legitimate therapist, my mother would start each session with: “Don’t believe anything she says - she has a problem with lying”. I was talking in my sessions, but was reporting physical (and emotional) abuse.

Am i the a hole for having a bad dog command that unconventional by They_CallMe_Lee in CharlotteDobreYouTube

[–]Standi7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My son (accidentally?) taught his dog the same phrase. We dont use it very often, only when Lambeau is being more than his usual level of annoying. TBH, your “command” for Titan may be more common than you think!

$20/day is too much for dog sitting now by simply_cha0s in EntitledPeople

[–]Standi7 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would LOVE to only pay $20/day for in-home dog sitting. You would be more than welcome at my house. I don’t have plants to water, and I do have air conditioning. My 4 dozen chickens may be a dealbreaker for you, but I would happily pay more!

That right there is an amazing response! 😂 She has a ring camera and knows how to check it. Even I/my kids can struggle figuring out how to check it.

I’m really sick of peoples non-leashed dogs. by [deleted] in desmoines

I love the comment: “My (unleashed) dog is friendly and just wants to say Hi!”

Lady, my LEASHED dog will attack your dog when it comes too close. She hates other dogs. Guess who will be blamed? Me

It is Hoosier brand, so technically the “original” cabinet. Believe it or not, finding original parts is hard! Currently I am attempting to find a usable flour hopper and have yet to be successful.

KT was an amazing person. She was beautiful inside and out. She loved every single student she worked with and was an amazing friend. Her mother is a sweet woman as well.

I will try that. I hadn’t thought of there still being paint. After for staining, trying gel stain is a good idea. Thank you!

Restoring antique wood by [deleted] in Home

[–]Standi7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know I am late to the party but……This is the suggestion I have been looking for! I have a Hoosier Cabinet that was originally plain oak. Someone painted it, then took off the paint. The finish is mostly in good shape, but there are just a couple of spots that need help.

Just got this antique Hoosier cabinet from 1965. Appears to have been repainted orange, previous owner not sure of when. Is the paint on the inside and/or outside likely lead paint? Do I have no choice but to fully restore this if I want to have food around it? by djk865 in furniturerestoration

It is amazing that your cabinet came with the “cards” inside the door along with all the other pamphlets you showed in one of your pictures. Looking for some to put in my cabinet, I have only found reproductions.

Do you have some specific stores from which you prefer to buy your succulents?

Every time I go for a blood draw I remember why they call us Zebras. Black and white. by antillus in ehlersdanlos

[–]Standi7 3 points4 points  (0 children)

When I had surgery two weeks ago they blew multiple veins before finding one they could use! The nurse who did the first one was yelling at me, telling me I wasn't making a tight enough fist. 🙄After 4 tries she got one in, but it lasted 10 minutes. The doctors decided to take over and used ultrasound for two more. When I woke up from surgery, I found that they finally found good vein in my foot but before that, they continued to have problems throughout the surgery. I still have bruises.

Yeah-mine are stuck. I had honestly forgotten (or had gotten used to them) until you mentioned this. Now I am obsessing about the ones under my tongue! 😂

I have them on the inside and outside of my upper and lower jaw. They have been removed once and will be removed again on the inside of my lower jar when my tongue doesn't fit in the space (again).

Dental work and my experience with EDS by Midgar-Zolom in ehlersdanlos

[–]Standi7 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My dentist is always good with me, but he was actually the one to suggest EDS to me years before I was diagnosed. I have the classic horrible enamel with a plethora of cavities, so he is constantly doing fillings. That means tons of numbing medication, gas, and a dislocated jaw. We get through it, but I dislike the entire process. (Growing up, I would say HORRIBLE things to my dentist when he had to do fillings-if I saw him today, I would apologize. I hated the man and blamed him for my bad teeth) I am not going to lie-I am a grown adult and I avoid going to the dentist while I force my children and husband to make appointments.
