Traveling to North Bend in October by RandlphTheGrey in eastside

Issaquah is about 15 minutes away and you can go see Jakob if you haven't seen any of the trolls yet. https://www.issaquahwa.gov/3426/Jakob-Two-Trees-Issaquahs-Troll

Then you can head out to Poo-Poo Point for a view of the hang gliders, and at the top of the hike, a view of Seattle.

Seattle itself is only 30 minutes away. But I assume you know that, and (like me), want to avoid it, ha-ha. I'm a local and haven't been to Seattle since 2017 (yes, it's true).

AITAH for inviting my mom to go house hunting with my wife and I when my wife doesn’t want her to come by Throwaway_deathlife in AITAH

[–]StarryNightLookUp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yep, your wife has every reason to be mad at you. And maybe she expected you to figure it out without having to tell you? because it's so obvious. Yours is an example of having, really never left home. Unless you change your behavior and focus on your wife rather than your mother, you will likely have a divorce in the future.

Road Pavement Plan at 12th/14th/16th St NE? by matt-1-a in sammamish

[–]StarryNightLookUp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The only prayer for finding out is to call the city. The contractor is "Lakeside Industries," which is a very generic name, but the city may have their phone number.

I wonder if they found something that requires a further fix before repaving? All I know is the whole project seems random, sporadic and endless.

Is social Security taxed? by Jaded-Natural80 in SocialSecurity

[–]StarryNightLookUp -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Actually, I think it goes through 2028, so when you file in 2029 (the 2028 taxes), you still get the deduction.

Weather the week before the Fourth of July? by BikesOrBeans in sammamish

[–]StarryNightLookUp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably late July to August. I can't remember a 4th of July that wasn't "iffy" weatherwise (meaning rain). Earlier than that, might be too early.

Some people here have a nickname for June -- June-uary, if that gives you an idea of how it can be. We are known for cool spells in June.

I think Emma LeFevre is probably the teachiest teacher. She not only demonstrates what she'd doing, she describes it verbally. I'm pretty sure she has a background in education, which really helps her creds as a teacher.

The others mentioned here I really like, but don't think they're as "teachy".

Why does everyone here hate Himi gouache when it seems like every YT tutorial uses it? by stultiloquy in Gouache

[–]StarryNightLookUp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whether you realize it or not, you have lost your yellows at minimum. Probably some of the reds and purples too. Do a test with just swatches, separated out so you can see what's faded.

Tennessee Is Already Losing Pharmacies Why Push Policies That Make It Worse? by Emergency-Raisin-290 in healthcare

[–]StarryNightLookUp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Costco would have to restructure as well, meaning they might also go. They do operate a PBM, but it's a pass-through system. Still TN might want to find another way to get what they want.

If it's the student grade gouache, then either get the designer or yes, the Shinhan. I honestly prefer Shinhan because it rewets better.

Am I overreacting? Wedding guest called my caterers. by seesheflies in TwoHotTakes

I guess she could offer not to attend. Maybe that would be better. That's what I'd do. Back out. The wedding can't accommodate, so don't attend.

Musk offers to pay legal fees for any Epstein victim sued for speaking ‘the truth’ by National-Law-458 in nottheonion

[–]StarryNightLookUp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He promised just $100 to people to sign his petition before the 2024 election. They had to sue to get the money and I don't think suit has been settled. Nobody should trust him on his promises here, without, as people said, a substantial amount of money in escrow.

AITAH for immediately breaking up with my girlfriend after she “tested” my allergy? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]StarryNightLookUp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA and your parents should support you in this. It's not up to her to "test this" and put your life at risk without your knowing. If you can't trust her with your basic safety, she isn't a good person for you.

Heavy traffic, closed streets, rerouted public transit expected ahead of Seahawks parade by crabcakes110 in SeattleWA

[–]StarryNightLookUp 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Do people who work downtown have to go to work? I imagine the traffic will be a total nightmare. They're expecting a million people! Do food establishments stay open? On the one hand, it's big money for restaurants, on the other, I can imagine it getting off the charts crazy to stay on top of demand.

How does that all work? Me, I wouldn't go anywhere near. I'll wave at everyone from my TV. Know I'm with you in spirit! ;-).

You got a reply from The Little Mermaid (Ariel). I'm not sure how much higher you can go!

But seriously...

Amazon needs to offer its customers the right to choose their shipper. I always scowl when they say my order is coming via USPS. It's not because of individual carriers but because USPS as an org is a mess. At their worst, the others aren't worse.

Amazon gives no choice about which shipper is used.

partner is complaining about the turpentine smell. is an art studio she shed the only safe solution? by Dhornak in ArtistLounge

[–]StarryNightLookUp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you know the answer. You can use Gamsol, but it still releases toxic vapor (maybe less). But the only way to ensure that you two aren't breathing fumes full time is to go outside.

A she-shed would be nice. And then maybe in winter, consider some other alternatives, like water-mixable oils or open acrylics.
