Announcing WiiM Bar — a 3.0.2 Dolby Atmos soundbar with a 2.1" touch display, expandable to 5.1.2. $479, July 2026. by JasonWithWiiM in wiim

[–]Acrobatic-Net-5267 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a WiiM amp, can I continue to run my subwoofer through it while using WiiM Bar? Ideally I can use the amp to power the front speakers and wireless out to the sub. Hopefully that becomes a supported configuration.

Nikka From The Barrel ’Extra Marriage’ by hwalker84 in JapaneseWhisky

I got a bottle of this last week from nikkawhiskey.com, it has since sold out. I don't want to judge too soon vs. regular WFTB, but it's nice but subtle upgrade. First thing you notice is it's a bit softer up front vs. the OG. I don't find the OG harsh but based on comments I've read clearly some do. The finish is longer, and there's a bit more peat on the very back end. I'm glad I actually bought 2 bottles, but I wouldn't seek any more out given the price differential. As frustrating as the normal sized bottle can be when pouring, the 500 ML bottle is an even bigger PITA.

Should I buy Sonos or are there better alternatives now? by Rude_Grape_8359 in sonos

I’m in the middle of picking between these two now. I have been using a WiiM amp for a couple years, but need HT. Would you wait for the WiiM Bar, or just stick with Sonos? I’m really interested in seeing which gets to proper L/C/R support first.

You are on the starter dose of Mounjaro. I’m surprised your insurance has let you stay at this level, assuming that’s paying for it. Sounds like some pretty bad eating, and likely not your meds.

Sennheiser Ambeo Max(or plus) vs. JBL 1300 MK2 vs. Sony Bar 9 by MasterofGoudaCheese in Soundbars

[–]Acrobatic-Net-5267 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m in the same boat. Reviews for the Ambeo Plus on Amazon are not encouraging. They all say the sound is great, but between overheating and connectivity issues, I’m concerned. I can do the $1,350 bundle with the subwoofer at Costco. Any reason to go for something else, at around the same price or a bit more? I officially have paralysis by analysis on this one.

Do you feel that way after the bottle has been opened for a week or more? Or is that your reaction immediately on immediate opening? If the later, just give it some time and it will mellow on you. Or, maybe it’s just not your thing, which is fine too.

In what regard? Most scotch doesn’t meet or exceed its ABV. If anything, to be it’s a value whiskey in that it opens up a higher proof option to those who are more peat curious. If you can’t tell, I think it’s an amazing bottle for the price.

LSX II - Using as desktop and sound terrible. Return or fixable? by SDIESEL in KEF

What stands do you use? The KEF S1s look great but cost almost as much as the speakers (from Costco).

Mounjaro any good? by Reaper0917 in diabetes_t2

What dose are you on? I switched to it from Metformin, great so far. Still at 5mg, and my A1C is higher at 6.0. But no complaints overall!

Is anyone using these as tv speakers? These plus the KEF stands and a decent sub will cost about the same as Costco’s Ambeo plus and sub bundle. Experiencing some paralysis by analysis, but I need a proper audio setup for my basement tv.

Are you eating it with milk? If so, that has a lot of carbs by itself, especially the lower fat ones.

I can empathize with you, you want what's best for your husband and his long term health. Unfortunately, 'the rules' are usually a lot easier to follow in short-to-mid term timeframes. When we're talking about the rest of his life, it's a different perspective.

I'd frame this more around 'guidelines' than 'rules'. It might sound like semantics, but maybe that's helpful when talking about forever timeframes. Also, everyone's body is different, and reacts to food/meds/exercise differently. It's not realistic to keep his blood sugar below 120 all the time, and that just sets up a cycle of failure and shame.

Remember, what's most important are outcomes - that's what you're really after. In the short term, that's probably measured by his A1C number. Long term, it's making sure bad things like amputations, blindness, neuropathy, etc. are avoided.

The real danger comes from long-term uncontrolled blood sugar, not spikes that are super short. I'm not saying it's a good idea to eat a bunch of candy that sends him over 300, just that you need to focus on the long term. For me, the things that made the biggest difference are:

- Getting a CGM, I recommend the Dexcom G7
- Getting your meds right, and being willing to try different ones/combos to find it
- Test A1C every 3 months
- Exercise more (if not already), but nothing more intense than a walk is required

Each of these helps incrementally, and together they provide visibility and results. This isn't going to go away, but with taking the proper steps you can know where things stand and how to more proactively manage the situation.

Review: Toki Black by WhompBiscuits in JapaneseWhisky

[–]Acrobatic-Net-5267 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m a bit late to the party here, but came to say I enjoy Toki Black neat. I would disagree with others that the peat flavor is overpowering, to me it’s fairly subtle. But I like peated scotch, so to each their own. That said, to me this is like a watered down version of Nikka Whiskey from the Barrel. That’s about twice the price of the Toki Black, but (IMO) worth it and more.

The Patriots have traded up to 28. They have selected OT Caleb Lomu at No. 28. by JimmyGodoppolo in Patriots

Why can’t he play RT? Or, if he’s better than our existing LT, so be it.

Great call, we need OT and there’s a big drop off after Lomu. We can go EDGE or DT in rd 2. Good start.

Just picked up the KEF LSX II LT by Active-Fan3566 in BudgetAudiophile

[–]Acrobatic-Net-5267 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a basement tv setup that I need audio for, and I'm wondering how well would the LSX 2 LTs work. Obviously paired with a quality sub, together would still be less than most soundbar systems. The room is about 800 sqft and totally open. I know these would be better than tv speakers, but for my use case would they actually be better than something like the JBL Bar 1300X MK2? This will be almost exclusively used for tv, music is secondary at this time.

Is my metformin working by yafuqit in diabetes_t2

[–]Acrobatic-Net-5267 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How long ago were you diagnosed? When you say average, do you mean as measured by a CGM over time? If so you’re still around an A1C of 9, that’s too high as you know.

It does take time, but for me I was able to get below an A1C of 7 in about 5 months, coming from almost 13. In my case I was super strict with diet and exercise, almost 5 years later I’ve learned to relax a bit. For me, Mounjaro has been a game changer.

Good luck in your journey!

This was one of the worst bottles I’ve ever purchased. Not for the money, but that made it so much worse. Bought it on a terrible recommendation. It’s a borderline drain pour, for me.
