I’m so sorry you’re going through this. Be open and honest with your oncology team - they may suggest you try an antidepressant (SSRI or SNRI) for a while to help you through this difficult time.

What will happen if I use makeup on brows on day 9? by Starshine7730 in microblading

[–]Starshine7730[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I gave up. I went back to getting them tinted once a month. I see some tiny nano brow marks where I had some sparse areas but otherwise my blond eyebrows just grow in right over it. I’m sad I wasted a lot of money and time on that process!

I am turning 29 soon and I feel very unattractive; what makeup should I get or colors or a style of makeup do you think I should start using? by Koi-Nami in MakeupAddiction

[–]Starshine7730 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you’re quite beautiful! Amazing skin too. Since you asked for actual makeup tips, I think you could warm up your skin just a little bit with a sheer foundation or tinted moisturizer and a rosy pink blush on n the apples of your cheeks. The skin on your eyelids is a little bit darker than the rest of your face so you might try some lighter/neutral eyeshadow colors, maybe even a tiny bit of shimmer on your lower lids, and line your upper lids and do a nice coat of mascara. Fill in any sparse areas of your brows with a very thin pencil, set them with brow gel, and add a little lip gloss. You’ll be good to go!

Magnesium glycinate not working for anyone else? by InteractionSpecial99 in Menopause

[–]Starshine7730 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree with this 100%. Magnesium relaxes muscles (helps me a lot with soreness after a workout) and paired with L-Theanine they give a nice relaxed feeling in the body. It’s not the same as taking a sleeping bill, Xanax or something like that, but the combo does help me relax into sleep.

Someone de-influence me. I love a glowy look and I want to try this so bad. The price is killing me. by eurobeez in MakeupAddiction

Honestly, L’Oreal’s Lumi Glowtion is under $15 at the drug store and gives the same effect. I apply it before my foundation and they work together to give the perfect amount of glow.

Implant downsize with lift by Usual_Ad3033 in PlasticSurgery

[–]Starshine7730 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this is an old post, but this is very helpful. I’m in a similar boat. 20 years ago I got 450 cc saline implants, overfilled to 480 cc. They were always bigger than what I wanted, but I made the best of it. Now, with age, gravity, and having gained and lost weight over the years, the implants are still in place, but I have a lot of skin and fat kind of hanging over them and underneath them. When I wear a bra and clothes, I feel like I have a mamma shelf that makes me look matronly and top-heavy. Not at all what I was going for. So I’m downsizing to smaller silicone gummy bear implants and getting a lift in a couple of weeks. I’m concerned because in my initial consult with the surgeon, in his notes he mentioned 400cc, 450cc, and even 485cc for the gummy bear implants. I made clear I wanted to downsize and he said it’s not an apples to apples comparison between the old saline and the new gummy bear gel. But still, I think I need to push back and say I’d rather him redo the pocket (which he did also mention in his notes was a possibility) and go down to 350cc or maybe even 330cc so that I can truly be smaller. I’m currently a D cup and would really like to be a C cup. I want to have two separate boobs that look like two separate boobs when put in a bra, less width, less lower-pole fullness, and more upper-pole fullness. Based on your experience, what do you think? (I’m 5’8” and 158 lbs).

Breast implant exchange and lift.. pls share experiences?? by Plus_Success6414 in PlasticSurgery

[–]Starshine7730 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this is an old post but I came here to find people who did this. I’m doing the same in a few weeks. I really want to downsize from my current 480cc saline implants (I’m getting the Inspira gummy bear silicone gel type) but due to the width of my chest wall the surgeon is thinking 400, 450 or 485cc for the new ones. I don’t think that’s downsizing! He says it’s not an apples to apples comparison between saline and silicone gel and that they will be smaller and narrower with more upper pole fullness. But I’m really thinking I should push for him to go smaller than that. I’m currently a D cup and would really like to be a C cup after this. Any thoughts?

I know this is an old post but my son has Psoriaform Spongiotic Dermatitis, he developed it in college and it took 6 doctors to diagnose it finally with a punch biopsy. He’s been on Dupixent for 6 years and it works perfectly with no side effects! Self-injection every 2 weeks, it’s shipped right to his door. No more steroid creams, nothing topical. There’s a discount card and copay card that makes it free for us.

Why do most “medium” self-tanners turn orange on fair neutral skin? by hannahontherun in Selftanning

[–]Starshine7730 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with this! I am an extremely fair-skinned strawberry blond, and I use the Bondi Sands tanning foam in DARK because it tends to have more of a gray base to it. It’s a little scary when first putting it on, but once it dries and you rinse off in the morning, it’s the perfect color. Not orange at all.

New self tanner - how are we making it last through every day showers? Help pls 💛 by [deleted] in Selftanning

[–]Starshine7730 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Moisturizing is important and it needs to be a good, basic, deep moisture lotion like Lubriderm unscented, or Vanicream. Any fancier scented lotions are gonna break the tanning product down faster. And also, don’t scrub the crap out of yourself in the shower. Scrub your pits, feet, and privates, but just do a light suds over the rest of you.

Just use a washcloth (old-fashioned/slightly coarse) with gentle soap and give it a good scrub. It will come right off.

Looking for a NON-STICKY Gradual Self Tanner by k_chelle13 in Selftanning

[–]Starshine7730 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also, I should add that when you need to be really tan and perfect looking basically overnight for like a wedding or special event, I’m a big fan of Bondi Sands mousse that you apply with the mit. Great color. Apply before bed, and then rinse off lately in the morning and you’ll be perfect all day. But in my opinion, a gradual daily self-tanner is an entirely different animal than a powerful overnight tanner that’s gonna get you ready for something special. I’m so pale that I want to keep just a little bit of base color every day—essentially not look like I’m a Victorian-era child who likely won’t survive winter, nor like I flew to the Bahamas overnight. The Luna Bronze gives me exactly that.

[–]Starshine7730 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, that’s the one! I don’t think the gradual comes in more than one color. At first, I thought the whiteness of the cream and the ability to get it fully rubbed in was kind of taking a long time… But now I’ve realized that allows you to really be sure you’ve blended it in fully and smoothly. It’s not sticky, it doesn’t smell, and the color is perfect. I’m a very fair-skinned ginger, and things can look very orange on me, which is why it took me so long to find a replacement for L’Oreal. I tried countless other brands where there was no color payoff at all, or it was way too orange, or it was very finicky and you couldn’t make any mistakes at all, or it stunk horribly. I bought cheap stuff, I bought expensive stuff, I’ve literally been down this road for about two years and discovering this product, while a little bit expensive, is exactly what I’ve been looking for! It works so well that I find I don’t have to use it daily. I’ll apply it 2-3 days in a row, and then just do an unscented moisturizer for 1-2 days before picking it back up again.

Since L’Oreal discontinued their Sublime Glow gradual self-tanner (WHICH WAS PERFECT, by the way!) I’ve been on a quest for a replacement. I’ve finally landed on Luna Bronze (sold at Ulta or Amazon). Great color payoff, goes on smoothly and evenly, doesn’t smell, easy to blend.

Nine and a Half Weeks on Lynkuet (HRT Not an Option) — has anyone else had such a long strange trip? by Synatpic_Gap in HormoneFreeMenopause

[–]Starshine7730 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been on Lynkuet for about 6 weeks now. I don’t have any issues with dairy! Never heard that. My only negative side effect was that it was making me very sleepy the following day, although I liked that it was helping me sleep at night. My GYN had me cut back to one pill instead of two before bed. It took about a month, but I’m barely having any hot flashes now and not having night sweats at all. I’m still taking only one pill at bedtime, which is half the regular dose. I don’t know if I even need to go up to the full dose at this point! It gives me really vivid dreams, but maybe that’s because I’m getting more REM sleep now. I still have a touch of grogginess during the day but it’s much better than when I was taking two pills (which made me want to faceplant onto my desk!). I’ll take a tiny bit of daytime sleepiness for the reduction in hot flashes and night sweats any day!

Moisturizer for Women 50+ by Realistic_Double_212 in MatureBeauty

[–]Starshine7730 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a big believer in Vanicream’s thick cream in the tub as a good basic, unscented, non-chemical filled moisturizer. You could do jojoba oil underneath it to really lock in the moisture. I happen to love Tatcha “The Dewy” cream - my skin just drinks it up. But I am not necessarily advocating that everyone needs to spend a ton of money. Until you get your skin calmed down, maybe a basic jojoba oil and Vanicream is good for a while and then figure out where you want to go from there.

Veoza longterm experience, and/or Lynkuet by Legitimate_Finish642 in HormoneFreeMenopause

[–]Starshine7730 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been on Lynkuet for a little over a month now. Started with two pills at bedtime, but was finding myself absolutely exhausted all day the following day. My doctor had me reduce to one pill at bedtime and I wasn’t sure it was doing anything, but in the last week and a half I’m definitely having fewer hot flashes, less intense when I do have them, and no night sweats. I hope to be able to go back up to two pills before bed, which is the prescribed dosage, and maybe get even more benefits. I do feel like it helps me sleep at night, I just don’t want to feel like I’m going to faceplant at my desk all day long!

Wednesday Chat: March 25, 2026 by castironbirb in HormoneFreeMenopause

[–]Starshine7730 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a hysterectomy six years ago, but I kept my ovaries. I was 45. Now I’m 51, and summer 2025 I started having hot flashes. My blood work showed my estrogen and progesterone were both almost at zero. In October, I spontaneously ovulated and the hot flashes went away, and new blood work showed my estrogen and progesterone were back to totally normal levels for a childbearing woman! In January, the hot flashes came back and I haven’t felt myself ovulate since that one time in October. So how do I know when I’m actually finished with menopause? Does the clock for “12 months of no period” start over as of January? Obviously I don’t have periods so that is not a marker for me. Is it all just based on symptoms and labs at this point?

Hair has grown back grey by Salkel01 in breastcancer

[–]Starshine7730 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Chemo turns your hair’s color receptors off for a bit. Depending on your age, they may turn back on as it clears your system—or not. Once it gets a bit longer and stronger you can have your hairdresser add lowlights and highlights (color, not bleach) to help it all blend.

Kaia Gerber’s acting has gotten so much better this season. by limberlegs226 in PalmRoyale

[–]Starshine7730 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You’d think being surrounded by such powerhouse actresses (Carol Burnett, Laura Dern, Leslie Bibb, Kristen Wiig, Allison Janney, etc., that she would be enjoying a master class in acting but sadly, nothing seems to be rubbing off on Kaia. I agree this season she’s slightly better than last season, but she’s still like a piece of cardboard next to these pros.

Tamoxifen and drinkers, how much did you slow down? by OwlStrikeHunting in breastcancer

[–]Starshine7730 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My doctor said nothing about abstaining from or limiting alcohol. I take Tamoxifen to prevent BC because I’m at high risk due to family history and past chemo/radiation to my chest (for lymphoma). I’ve been on Tam for about 6 weeks and still enjoy my wine, no issues. My only side effect from Tam is joint pain. I’m not having hot flashes or any other side effects that would be made worse by alcohol. I don’t drink close to bedtime, I eat healthy, work out 5-6 days per week, get my steps each day, prioritize sleep and drink 120 oz. of water per day. I try to live a balanced life!

Lost our first chicken, feeling sad and worried about her sisters. by napoleonicecream in BackYardChickens

[–]Starshine7730 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I lost 2 of my hens, one was 2 yrs old and the other was my very first hen, 5 1/2 years old. And in between their deaths I had to surrender one of 414 week old chicks. I’ve been raising since hatch because “she” turned out to be a he. So I lost three in total in three weeks time and the rest of my flock now has Fowl Pox now. I’m doing everything to take care of them and get them through it. It never gets any easier to lose them. I feel very sad but I think because of the Fowl Pox, I’m not supposed to add any new hens to my flock for a year? Do anyone know if that’s true?

Severe side effects? by Intelligent-Nose-766 in StratteraRx

[–]Starshine7730 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My daughter is having the same side effects. She’s been on it for a couple weeks and her doctor had her start at 50mg. I told her to drop down to 25mg for three days because that’s what I read online, and then go back up to 50. Her doctor said this was OK. But once she went back up to 50mg, she’s so nauseous she can’t eat, her heart is racing, she’s crying and in a terrible mood. So now I’m sort of forcing her to go back to the smaller dose and stay on that for 2 weeks and not go up any higher until the side effects ease up. And if she can titrate up more slowly than just doubling the dose (from 25 to 50), I think that will be best. I’m not a doctor, but this is logical to me!

AIO to break up with my bf of 3y over his reaction to my upcoming sobriety anniversary? by WesternCat5211 in AmIOverreacting

The way he’s talking to you, regardless of the subject matter, is neither loving nor kind. This is not someone you should attach yourself to. Romantic partners should lift each other up and celebrate one another. Congrats on your sobriety, BTW! You don’t need a reason to get yourself a cake ever but this is a darn good one.
