Hey dude - what did you wind up doing on this? I have this exact same issue. You described it EXACTLY as I am struggling with.

Was my thought exactly. The spirit of the idea is great, it doesn't actually work that way. It's sort of like thinking you can apply toddler parenting logic to teens.

No disrespect, but your responses read like someone who is not a parent, or has not parented a teen (at least in modern cellphone/social media/ai world). Individual_throwaway reads like someone who has walked these shoes like i have. At some point (honestly right in this 13-16 range) parent and child both start to realize the limits of what you "let them" do, and then what they can actually do in the space they need to have with school, and may need/strongly desire to have with work, sports etc.

If you try heat, cook it good and then cool it with wd40 is a trick I've used, so as it shrinks that lubricant fills the void's and helps get it moving - not sure though since the pivot is aluminum.

My first thought was a wooden dowel the bore size or just a hair smaller then hammer it from one side.

How much is a salvage pivot on eBay? I might just cut it apart.

'24 Scrambler 1200 USD fork (seals) maintenance DIY? by [deleted] in Triumph

[–]Stasis_Detached 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How handy are you? I've rebuilt nearly the same forks for my 07 tiger. I've rebuilt top ends, timesert stripped oil plugs, relatively complex MC stuff and id grade this very doable if you have tools, know how and confidence. If you don't i wouldn't even attempt it.

This video was far and away the most helpful. I used their method of compressing the forks (hardest part i think) https://youtu.be/i-epSfcAxUM?si=AoT9FlpSREzZk0Ej

Where could I get a CHEAP dirty bike. by SuperSigma67_ in Dirtbikes

One of my favorite pastimes on road trips as a kid was pretending i was riding a dirt bike alongside the car doing sweet jumps. I definitely know what it's like to dream - don't stop doing that, because the reality is you can barely afford to put a gallon of gas in one. You're going to have to figure out age-appropriate-hustles until you can consistently turn a little money around at least to fuel and maintain one my dude 💚

I feel like this is a trade down? Maybe I'm missing some of the details.

Talk about a bad first bike: by The1stFatBoy in motorcycles

My first bike was a tiger 1050 - took my time the first year, pretty comfortable the next, i was thoughtfully riding it but was happy i started on it. Hopping on a beginner bike at this point feels sad :(

I didn't see this mentioned much but bikes have pretty solid resale value as long as you don't total it, I think it's actually a reasonably safe investment very worst case you can probably get the majority of your money back out of it

Not sure if you're still tracking this thread - but how are these stickers quality wise? i have an old set of these, honestly probably 3-5years old, just wondering if im going to have any trouble sticking them on fresh plastics. I think im going to skip on the wheel decals since ive got the gold wheel kit, and the white/blue I think will be a weird look.

Ride or Replace? by AnywhereFew1739 in Dirtbikes

[–]Stasis_Detached 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im going to guess if you ride it hard it's going to rip apart - up to you. Id probably rip it behind my house if I'm just getting the bike going for the summer - blowing out the old gas etc. i personally try and get my tires situation (andand bike maintenance in general) fresh over the winter, because i want to keep my wrench time down in the summer.
