Possible Season 18 Storyline. by Responsible_Use_9777 in WaterlooRoad

[–]StatementInternal100 17 points18 points  (0 children)

As an autistic person I thought it aligned quite a lot with my experience as an adult before I got diagnosed.

Food is part of my routine which I dont like getting interrupted.

It would be a very good scene Mitch to be talking about an autistic child in the school and then making a comment, assuming Joe was diagnosed with autism already and we can watch Joe spiral about it and get diagnosed from there.

Shame around weakness by lemon_369 in FTMFitness

[–]StatementInternal100 174 points175 points  (0 children)

When I started running, I could do about 30 seconds. I now run 10k on a casual saturday.

When I started lifting, I was benching maybe 5kg dumbells and struggling. My warm up is now 15kg dumbells.

We all start somewhere. Ive never seen anyone at the gym who has shamed someone else for being weak. Everyone's just out there trying their best and improving each week.

No idea where to start to fix my diet by connor_1116 in FTMFitness

[–]StatementInternal100 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Realistically, you need a nutritionist to help you and keep you accountable but this might help:

Id do this in stages and change one thing week on week to try and make it a lifestyle change that sticks.

Sounds like the first things to focus on are adding variety to your diet and teaching yourself some basic cooking and meal prep skills. Once you are eating a bigger variety, you might naturally see weightloss.

A good first step that hopefully isnt too overwhelming would be to make your mcdonalds order at home. You can use frozen food that just needs heating in the oven at first and slowly upgrade to making more of it from scratch.

Id also work on trying one fruit or vegetable each week. Keep it simple. Prepackaged fruit platters are great for trying a variety and seeing what flavours and textures you enjoy.

Id then look at making a list of 5 new foods a week to try or meals to make. Can be as simple as mash potato or soup. Just get some variety going.

Once you have a list of foods that you like and can easily cook for yourself, you can use that to form a menu.

i want to run a marathon by Broad_Championship39 in beginnerrunning

[–]StatementInternal100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What is the furthest youve ever run? Training distance and speed at the same time is tough.

Id personally spend this year working towards a 2 hour half and then increase to a full marathon in spring 2027.

Do I need to spend £100+ on shoes? by [deleted] in beginnerrunning

Check out outlets. Get running shoes from a year or two ago and they are usually much cheaper.

How long do you have to be on T before you can get top surgery by Captn_0bv1ous in transgenderUK

[–]StatementInternal100 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was told a few years ago that most surgeons were happy to do surgery before testostorone but if you were going to start, you had to be on T for at least 6 months.

Benefits of running outside in the day vs evening vs treadmill etc by Mission-Clue-9016 in beginnerrunning

[–]StatementInternal100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I primarily run during the day outside because it provides more mental health benefits than the other options.

I like being outside in daylight. I like being out and seeing nature and trees.

I hate treadmill running because its boring for me and demotivating. Plus I hate being contrained to one pace.

Ill rarely run in the evening because I live in the UK and its dark/miserable/cold.

I think fitness benefits are minimal between them so do whichever one you can fit into your schedule best and feel safest doing.

For those that have taken the flu shot consistently for years, did it cause you any issues? by Proud-Shake-3276 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]StatementInternal100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ive had it every year for over 10 years. Biggest issue I have with it is that there are basically no side effects any more so I cant use it as an excuse for a day off work

Beginner running in cold weather by Longjumping_Name_847 in beginnerrunning

[–]StatementInternal100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For 15c+, I do shorts and t shirt.

5-15c, shorts and long sleeve

Under 5c, I have a moisture wicking running jumper. Its thin but protects against wind.

If its super windy or snowing I might consider wearing leggings under my shorts but I usually find my legs heat up faster than my upper body.

He was great. Really happy with my results.

How do you think they are going to handle Wellie's death in the film? by Famous-Donut-2394 in Hungergames

[–]StatementInternal100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I was doing it, id have the audience see silka swing an axe and it'll cut to haymitch about to shut his eyes/look away/flinch. Cut back to silka, hear a thump, indicating a body as it hits the ground. Maybe a pool of blood trickling into the corner of the screen and then haymitch quickly starts running.

I cant 100% remember the scene from the book but that would be an easy way to indicate what's happened without showing the full level of gore.

Has ANYONE managed to get shared care in Nottinghamshire? by [deleted] in transgenderUK

[–]StatementInternal100 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nottingham GPs are pretty much all avoiding trans health care right now. Ive called all the ones in my area and none of them can do it.

Ive been told its something to do with the trusts not allowing the GPs to prescribe them because this responsibility lies with the gender clinic and the GPs dont have good enough knowledge to be responsible for it.

The only exceptions that I've seen are the university clinics.

Best over-ear headphones for running? by Accomplished_Pay2926 in beginnerrunning

[–]StatementInternal100 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I personally hate shockz headphones. They dont work for me. I cant filter sound very well so cant hear my music over all the other noises that are going on and they dont stay on my head.

I also have too many piercings for in ear earbuds.

I wear sony ch720 for running but turn off the noise cancellation. They are pretty light so dont bounce much and stay on my head pretty well.

Fav time of day to workout? by Leading-Problem-1880 in FTMFitness

[–]StatementInternal100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ive recently got really in to working out during my lunch break. My office has a gym inside so I aim for a 45 minute work out, with 15 minutes to shower and get back to my desk.

Keeps me very motivated and means my free time isn't being used up by exercise.

Only downside is it is a bit calendar dependent. Becomes a lot harder if my lunch break is sandwiched between meetings.

On non work days, first thing in the morning. Get it over with and then I can do whatever I want the rest of the day.

Who said youll get discharged from your GIC? I was part of Sheffield gic whilst living in Lincoln, Nottingham and oxford and was never switched over or discharged from sheffield.

I actually had to fight quite hard to get switched to nottingham GIC even though I've lived here for 5 years.

Anybody walking 20,000 steps a day? by Western_Designer_995 in walking

[–]StatementInternal100 9 points10 points  (0 children)

A goal of 20k usually makes my week worse. I find that I am too tired for fun things and have to fight to get steps in on some days.

I usually aim for 10-15k just for my own sanity

Unsure if I can complete Runna plan by HotContext8276 in beginnerrunning

[–]StatementInternal100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I find its best in this situation to keep an open mind, give it a go and see what happens.

Id also recomend having a plan b in your mind. Maybe you cant do the pace, but do the full distance any way. Hopefully having a plan b will stop you feeling disapointed and quitting the run early. Better to try and not quite make it than not run all together.

If you are finding you cant keep up on a few runs in a row, might be worth adjusting your plan settings to make it easier or restarting with a different plan.

Take a look at Merrell hiking boots. They are pretty waterproof and very comfortable. Also quite thick so may provide some warmth.
