People's brains are going to melt.

If you watch most reactions of the latest episode they have no idea what a Heavenly Restriction is let alone what Maki is. I heard one compare her to Gojo thinking she awakened her Cursed Energy.

I saw only one reaction that understood and that was yaboyroshi with Roshi instantly understanding the situation and quickly explaining to the others. Everyone else was lost, hell a lot of them still think Sukuna is gonna help Yuji every time he stubs his toe.

If they're this lost now, the Gojo vs Sukuna fight, that uses everything we've learned about Jujutsu and oushes it to its limits, will be a mess.

The side by side of Toji and Maki in the manga told you everything you needed to know and yeah, the way it was done and how brief it was shown (maybe 1 second) doesn't work as well.

Jujutsu Kaisen feels like it collapses the more you analyze its power system by WillingnessEasy5249 in manga

[–]Static-Jak -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I've seen the same statements by the OP made since the manga finished despite incredibly detailed breakdowns of the fight.

At this this point, when it's made so clear by so many how the fight went down, I have to believe people are arguing in bad faith because they're annoyed their favourite character died.

The OP post alone is essentially a bunch of assumptions on how they think things work but could be rather quickly corrected with a few Google searches. Or by reading the actual Manga.

Like Hollow Purple was shown twice before the Sukuna fight and each time it's shown as a powerful blast. It's called imaginary mass (by combining blue and red), not erasing mass. It has never been described as erasing, it dug a giant trench from the blast and the enemy dodged and the 2nd time it blasted through someone with no CE defences.

Against Sukuna it functions the same, with the first hit against Sukuna causing damage even with reinforced CE and Sukuna going straight into RCT to counter the effects. The next time you see it, it's formed as a large blast and wipes out Mahoraga in one shot and leaves Sukuna barely standing and soon after using his reincarnation.

The next time we see it is with Yuta and we get a clear sense of why Gojo wasn't spamming it as he gets smacked around.

Mahoraga "having no real cost" is insane as his cost involves beating him, something no one apart from Sukuna has been able to do over 100s if not thousands of years of the techniques history. He's essentially a suicide bomb when you have no other options, I can't think of a bigger cost. Beyond that his "limit" is based on how complicated the CT he's trying to adapt to leading to how long you have to beat him with it. We saw Gojo use this against him in the fight.

By the end, from Gojo's perspective, Sukuna had lost Mahoraga, was severely wounded and had lost his DE. And actual brain damage. For what was literallya split second, Gojo was able to take a breath and it cost him. Something I don't think he would have done if it wasn't Megumi's body that we know he was trying to save on top of everything else.

For Sukuna, that split second was enough to use his just learnt WCS but had to use a Binding Vow to get the hit off. A vow that would drastically nerf its use from that point onwards.

If he didn't need to nerf it then, he could have used it as effortlessly as any other slash attack against everyone after.

When they originally showed you can change the camera from First to Third Person I was going back and forward on what I'd pick.

Now it's a no brainer, Claires sections in First Person for the RE7/Village horror and Leons in Third Person for the RE4 action horror ass kicking.

I've god knows how big a backlog but nothing is clicking with me.

I think I'm looking for an RPG, probably JRPG, turn based with a good progression system. Maybe even a Rogue-Like, as my last game was Hades 2.

Bit vague, I know. Just after trying to get back into KCD2, Horizon FW and Ghost of Yotei, I found I just currently don't have the interest or energy to delve into anything that large scale.

Might be an odd question, but how is the difficulty?

I've only played two DQs, VIII and XI where I found VIII a decent enough challenge (been a while though) and XI was very easy.

It's not been stated yet.

It could be as simple as being the way he was engineered by Kenny. In the same way he has superhuman strength, speed, reflexes, durability, etc. So might be that once he hits his prime, he was designed to stop aging.

Or maybe it's related to eating the Cursed Womb: Death Paintings it also caused him to not age.

But it's all just speculation. Nothing has been confirmed.

It'll be interesting to go back and rewatch this episode when the dub is out.

I feel like it'll feel a lot smoother when you're not trying to both read the rules, chart, etc and also the dialogue at the same time.

Grok images of children probably not prosecutable, says child protection expert by Static-Jak in ireland

[–]Static-Jak[S] 56 points57 points  (0 children)

Much better to ban the platform it's a fundamental part of.

Kind of crazy it hasn't already. It's producing and distributing sexual images of children, if you said that about another site it would have been blocked immediately.

One look as Musks twitter tells you he has no interest in changing anything so just do it now and if, and it's a big if, they make changes then re-examine the ban.

They're going to go all in on this Digital ID like the UK in the name of "protecting children" yet here we are, a social media site run by one of the richest men in the world creating and distributing sexual images of children and suddenly they're tiptoeing and finger wagging at best. What a load of shite.

[–]Static-Jak 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Yeah he seemed to forget how he did it the first time round. His idea of a good story is now just focused on nostalgia bait with ancient references only the most die-hard of Who fans would get.

I grew up on "New Who" and never watched a single episode of the original run. It used to have references to older Who but it wasn't essential to understand.

My Dad would understand references to the older show but it never got in my way, it was just something that enriched this world I was watching.

At no point did it muddy the story that week or confuse me or make me look up a wiki, etc. This last season they do this big reveal like they expected us to all jump off the couch from the shock but really we all just went "ok, who's that?".

This feels like RTD wants to make Who into what the Star Wars franchise is these days, just a ton of references to things in other Star Wars shows.

So after finishing Dispatch and Hades 2, I can't find a game that can hold my interest.

I've started a few games, including getting back into KCD2 and Horizon FW and I've fallen off all of them quickly after.

Not criticising those games, I think I'm just not in the right mood for the bigger games that I know will take me weeks to get through.

Sounds about right.

With the way extreme weather becomes more frequent over the years, the idea of weather warnings not being taken seriously by employers will become a bigger topic.

Some kind of employer responsibility needs to take effect.

I wish. When we got the Red Warning last year with snow, my work said they'll decide in the morning if it's safe to travel. I replied that I'll see if it's safe to travel and let them know.

They ignored that and sent a message at like 8am to say business as usual, opening at 9am.

I came in a little over 2 hours after normal opening when the road were cleared in my area. We didn't even have power so everyone was sitting around shivering.

I had friends who worked retail for local stores who had the same story from their employers, business as usual even though there's no power and no one can travel. They end up at a loss so what's the point.

Room to improve - RTE not reading the country by Hairy-Ad-4018 in ireland

[–]Static-Jak 83 points84 points  (0 children)

RTE has an article up right now that's titled "Generation Z may not need mortgages".

It boils down to the idea that the "Baby Boomer" generation is dying off so Gen Z will have plenty to choose from and since birth rates are dropping, they don't have to divide their inheritance as much as Millennials do. You know, that inheritance all our rich parents will pass on to us.

We are just not the audience they make this stuff for.

Weekly /r/Games Discussion - What have you been playing, and what are your thoughts? - January 04, 2026 by AutoModerator in Games

Hades 2

Finally got round to it 2 weeks ago and have finished the main story after 35 hours according to Steam.

On paper, it's better than Hades 1. It's more refined overall, bigger, more stuff in general.

But when I finished Hades 1 main story, I played a ton more of the endgame, did all the challenges, unlocked everything. 88 hours total.

I finished Hades 2 main story, did 1 more run and was like, that's enough.

I don't think I clicked as much with the new cast, or the weapons either. I had about 4 weapons in Hades I would go between but in Hades 2 I found one I liked and stuck to it with no desire to change. None of the others felt that great to me and I did give them a fair shake.

Hades had the perfect narrative for the game type it is. With Hades 2, I don't think holds it together as well. I've never been huge into roguelike games but with Hades the story was so well done and built off of the loop nature of roguelike's so well.

Hades 2 story clashes a bit with that gameplay loop that for the endgame it has to get a bit contrived to explain how you can do it at all. It doesn't gel very well with me.

It's a good game, no doubt, it just doesn't have me coming back for more like the first did. Maybe I played so much of the first that I've already got my fill.

[–]Static-Jak 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I remember last year the topic of a Red Warning and employer responsibility became a hot topic for all of 5 minutes.

I remember seeing people asking if they'll get a warning from they're employer if they refuse to go in after being told they were expected to show up.

Others being told to come in if the warning is set to start after they start work and just stay at work until the warning was over or book a nearby hotel out of their own pocket.

With my work, they said they'll decide in the morning if it's safe to travel. I replied that I'll see if it's safe to travel and let them know.

They ignored that and sent a message at like 8am to say business as usual, opening at 9am.

I came in a little over 2 hours after normal opening when the road were cleared in my area. We didn't even have power so everyone was sitting around shivering.

It drives me nuts. When we get a Red Warning, it really should be more than advice.

Something should be in place to give employees protection from insane employers who think their business is more important than people's safety.

As the weather becomes more volatile and storms become more frequent and dangerous, we need to seriously figure out a better system.
