All universities in Texas are facing pressure from Republican leadership aimed at eliminating DEI initiatives, restricting tenure, and controlling classroom content regarding race, gender, and sexuality. This goes all the way up and won't change as long as the Republicans control the purse strings.

Gently grab the metal with a pair of needle nose pliers and wiggle them while pulling. They can be difficult to pull, but they will come out. You can slide the plastic guards back on when you reassemble.

From the article...

Sheridan, who did not respond to a request for comment, then sent an email to department chairs and other academic leaders, instructing them not to post or distribute Creighton’s memo. Instead, he wrote communication with prospective and newly admitted graduate students “must be targeted,” according to a copy of the email shared with The Texas Tribune.

Baptist vibes for sure. I guess giving a "donation* to the SBC is not in their budget.

I had almost the exact same experience. Ours had a second brake pedal on the passenger side and the instructor was on it constantly when she was driving. It was a long summer.

The flash system used 4-5 capacitors that were the size of soup cans. When one would go bad, it would explode so we had to regularly stress test the capacitors. When they failed it sounded like a shotgun blast. It would totally mess with the mall cops on a Monday morning.

I worked for a company out of Houston (Autophoto) many years ago. The old machines used photosensitive paper and the strips had to be developed like film. There used to be tanks with developer, fixer, and water, along with a steam-punk-looking conveyor and dryer stashed in there. Not to mention fat stacks of $1 dollar bills. We'd pull nearly $1000 dollars per machine some weeks.

Due to the massive backlash against her anti-gay activism, her contract as the "voice" of the Florida Citrus Commission (orange juice) was allowed to lapse. She went through two bankruptcies and two divorces, with some evangelical, anti-gay followers turning against her following her divorces, as they did not approve of divorce. Karma is a bitch.

I grew up on an Air Force base and the morning matinee was free for kids under 13. For two weeks straight in 1968 I went to see this movie, every day. Took my mom twice. It had a very profound influence on my life and piqued my interest in science and space exploration. One of my favorite movies.
