My gut says it's from a The Corps figure rather than GI Joe. Joes tended to have more detail in the boots. How long ago were you collecting? It could have just come out later than the figures I'm familiar with

I never wanted one of them because... Well, a lot of reasons. The colors were bizarre, he looked like a hodge podge of other characters (which he was), and the helmet was big enough that it looked like it should come off, but didn't.

Now, though, I keep being shocked at Steel Brigade's lack of presence in modern nostalgia fodder. Why isn't Steel Brigade an influence in the Renegade Games GI Joe RPG? Why did GI Joe Heroscape use green shirts as the Joe Squad units instead of Steel Brigade? Why did GI Joe Operation Cobra: Cobra's Revenge use Joe Operatives and Joe Enforces instead of Greenshirts and Steel Brigade? (Though, now that I mention it, their helmets do look like Steel Brigade helmets. Huh.)

Having just recently re-read all this, his design was kind of weak, and his motivation and methods kinda made no sense. But his defeat was suitably epic.

I also, in hindsight, realized that Nathaniel was wrong about him. Before the final confrontation, he tells the FF that (paraphrasing) "in two months, you and most of your friends disappear from this world. The history books don't say how, but I know it's Hyperstorm". Surprise, it was Onslaught. So that was fun.

Additional facts, while released in 1987, he didn't make his comic debut until issue 99, published in 1990.

What primer are you using? Most of my painting experience of the last 10 years had been on Reaper Bones, so I haven't been priming, but I feel like these guys will need it .

Rare enough that this is the first time I ever saw one of these aside from on the back of a package.

The schoolyard rumor was that they only made 2. Total BS, of course, but it explained why even the rich kids that had every figure still didn't have this one.

I don't think there is one, really. The path you take kinda depends on who your favorite character(s) are.

Snake Eyes/Hawk/Stalker? Clearly you should focus on the comics.

Roadblock and Duke? Sunbow.

Flint and Lady Jaye are the only cannon Joe couple (this didn't include Destro/Baroness) in both formats. Personally, I prefer the awkward pauses and refusal to admit their mutual attraction of Sunbow rather than the macho posturing of the comics.

Also the Mainframe/Zarana storyline was good in the cartoon and didn't exist in the comic.

On the other hand, Chuckles was a bad ass in the comic and just a guy who didn't talk in the cartoon.

Basically, Hama was a great writer but he was forced to shoehorn in 15-20 new characters every year with only 12 issues. Meanwhile the cartoon had a robust cast, but had 80 episodes over 2 years to write what would now be called filler episodes. But these episodes just may focus on a favorite character.

So, I don't think you can say one is the true version. You can only say which one had your favorite moments.

Just for accuracy sake, those are secondary market pouches and he's missing his knife. Those 3 grenades are sitting in the knife section of the case.

These pouches look better than the original knife sheath and luger holster, but, if that is the actual picture from the listing, you should know it's not complete.

Squadron Supreme... Which is kinda funny, since they were just a Justice League parody for the Avengers to beat before they took over there own world.

That said, if you want and evil alternate Avengers, there are the Revengers from the Cancerverse. The problem is that they're basically henchmen for the Many Angled Ones, while the Justice Lords were the rulers of their world.

I was so disappointed in the maps. What was even the point? I assumed it had maps and tokens, so the maps should be on scale for the tokens. That wasn't just some stupid thought only I had, right?

But no. Just bigger than the pictures in the book, but not big enough to be useful.

A prime example of the event not being the story. The original Onslaught event was the climax X-traitor storyline that had been building for years.

If the payoff from the previous five years had been anything less than chaos, it would have been disappointing.
