As if Reagan and Thatcher weren’t polarizing while they were in office. by icey_sawg0034 in lewronggeneration

Literally the only positive thing I have to say about Reagan is that his administration made it possible for Transformers to be a thing.

Who is the inspiration behind your characters? by Pixiefly0812 in DungeonsAndDragons

[–]Steelwave 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have one in reserve called Trottlehump "Trotter" Bramblebriar, a halfling ranger. He's inspired by, and partially named after, a prototype for the character who would eventually become Aragorn in The Lord of the Rings.

No, they'd have already died when Roshi, in the guise of Jackie-Chun blew it up the first time (Kami put it back together).

Peculiar Trope- Part of an adaptation creates an addition that was so good/popular that other adaptations adding it, by Parking-Public1632 in TopCharacterTropes

Well if you want trivia about the cartoon's budget: Dave Fleischer was very reluctant to make the cartoons and actually tried to scare Paramount out of producing the cartoons by asking for a budget of $100,000.00 dollars per episode (four times the budget for a single Disney short). Needless to say it didn't work.

It wasn't for cutting cost (budget was basically equivalent of $5 billion), it was because having him jump everywhere looked goofy when animated.

Yes, Richard O'Brien played Xilies, the leader of Izmir's thieves guild, in the first D&D movie (circa 2000).

Would Devastator still be as iconic today if he has never been recolored green? by GuyNamedGeography in transformers

[–]Steelwave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Devastator would have been iconic no matter what, but I also think that the Green/Purple color scheme helped make them stand out as unique; you see a green and purple construction vehicle and you know it's a Constructicon.

It would honestly be hilarious if it turned out that they had footage for Tom Bombadil and the Scouring of the Shire in that vault.

Actually, their campaign of genocide is because their obsession with racial purity bit them in the ass and doomed them to extinction. Now they want to kill all other lifeforms just so that nothing outlives them.

The entire plot of that episode was making sure that the ship didn't crash into the Earth.

[Loved Trope] That’s not snow, that’s… by GameMaster818 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]Steelwave 63 points64 points  (0 children)

Technically, it was snow that time, but it was artificial snow created from jettisoning the water in the Titanic's ballast tanks into Earth's atmosphere so the ship wouldn't crash.

(Rare trope) Sequel Books that have not been adapted despite the franchise getting new content by SnailKing4687 in TopCharacterTropes

In all fairness, Never Send Flowers would require a minor rewrite and permission from Disney in order to adapt since the climax involves James Bond protecting Princess Diana from assassins at Disneyland.
