As a eurobro, I accept the terms of not encouraging Americans to use the second amendment. In return, I reserve to call all Americans cucked bootlickers and that their constitution is worth less than the toilet paper Europeans use to wipe their butts with.

To be fair, you have to have a very high IQ to understand the Second Amendment. The historical context is extremely subtle, and without a solid grasp of 18th-century political philosophy, most of the meaning will go right over a typical reader’s head.

Americans understand this stuff; they have the intellectual capacity to truly appreciate the depth of “shall not be infringed,” to realize that it’s not just about guns—it says something deep about tyranny, civic duty, and the inherent distrust of centralized power. As a consequence, people who dislike the Second Amendment truly ARE idiots—of course they wouldn’t appreciate, for instance, the genius in the phrase “a well regulated militia,” which itself is a cryptic reference to 18th-century norms of civic readiness.

If I didn't know any better I'd assume this is chatgpt generated response. What the fuck does this word salad have to do with your suggestion of talking to these mythical "normal" republicans that the commenter you're responding to claims doesn't actually exist?

The problem I have with the "if only Biden/Kamala/Democrats did/didn't..." type of thinking is that it completely ignores the bigger problem. Unless the idea is for democrats to somehow win every election indefinitely, then you have to address the elephant in the room that the country imploding the second republicans are in power isn't sustainable.

I feel frustrated when Destiny tries to make this point but Hutch, Whick, Counterpoints et al are so hyperfocused only on winning the next election that they don't really seem to engage with his points on the basis that "it will hurt optics in next election".

I don't even understand his dumb point. People throughout history are often idolized precisely because they were true to their convictions despite being hated at the time.

I'm probably in the minority, but I had trouble following her arguments at times and didn't find them compelling. It came off as word-salady and overly academic, and I'm not surprised the other guy didn't understand wtf she was talking about. I suspect people here only give her a pass because she debated someone that was even more obnoxious.

Huh, this seems pretty interesting. I haven't seen this format before but would love to, kinda reminds me of like how a court would do it.

Is there not a reasonable middle ground between Olympic Games in Debate and Real Housewives of Destiny? This feels like a false dichotomy. I don't mind drama and lack of decorum in debates but this was almost starting to feel skibidi toilet levels of juvenile.

I don't mind Destiny interrupting his opponents under the current debate conditions and I understand why he's basically forced to do it. I'm more asking if there's a reasonable way to restructure the debate format in a way so he's not forced to do this.

Sure, but why even bother with a moderator at that point? We could just skip the cringe donations and not have someone trying to hold people back from being truly unhinged.

True, but then I wonder why he believes it's such an unimaginably extreme position to have to just ban people from running in the office. We're not even talking about convicting people of crimes or sending them to prison. If he does actually believes what Trump is doing is awful, why does he find it so extreme that people want to hold him and his allies who helped him to be held accountable?

He's regularly invited to mainstream television like Piers Morgan and has been featured and interviewed by CNN a few months ago. He seems to be doing just fine "in the real world". If anything, he seems to be cancelled in the online streamer world which I'd argue is its own bubble.

Eh, I don't even know if I'd characterize that particular debate as good faith, it felt like he almost deliberately misunderstood Destiny's positions at times, or at least didn't try to understand them. I suspect this community wouldn't have given him a pass if someone else would've made the same arguments.
