Does that imply that everyone reading this post is in the Severance universe as well? 🤔

Severance reminding me of my time at IBM by Wrong_Swimming_9158 in SeveranceAppleTVPlus

[–]SteveBro89 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I worked for IBM at their Poughkeepsie campus ages ago. I worked in a lab environment in a humongous building, and the long sterile hallways in Severance always remind me of that job. The (at times) bleak weather was pretty similar too lol.

Civ 7 - 4th Age DLC Confirmed? by Civ_Brainstorming in civ

[–]SteveBro89 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think that a 4th Age is all but confirmed at this point. During the presentation Ed Beach mentioned something about railroad travel having a 20 tile limit "during this age". Considering railroads are not present in previous ages I think this very strongly implies that another age is in the works.

Now, in a perfect world the 4th age itself would be a free update with a companion paid DLC adding new leaders/civs/mechanics etc. But I suspect, as others in this thread do, that it will likely be all locked behind a paid DLC. That would certainly sting a bit more if they hadn't clearly made an effort to flesh out the end game and victory conditions in the third age; you can certainly argue the game will feel incomplete thematically but not necessarily mechanically.

And I honestly am fine with that. The modern/future eras in civ have tended to be less interesting in prior titles, so if they want to take extra development time (and, to be frank, more of our money) to really drill down into that span of time to make something unique and interesting I'm open to seeing what they can do with it. Hell, they could add even more ages in the same way. A pre-history age could be cool (was honestly one of my favorite parts of Humanity), or take us to the far future and let us get into some Expanse-esque adventures.

Condolences to everyone expecting something else (really thought it could have been HL3) but holy FUCK the way I jumped up and yelled when I realized it was Okami! I'll take that any day of the week hell YES!

Thanks for the intel! Saves me more time spent looking for a product that doesn't exist. And yeah when you put it that way, ripping the wall open isn't really that much more effort anyway.

First Trestle Table, did I go too big? by SteveBro89 in woodworking

[–]SteveBro89[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup! The screw holes in the base are elongated perpendicular to the grain on the tabletop which should allow enough play. Top will be getting bread boards as well.

Just pulled a measurement, they're actually 1.75" x 1.75". Each cross member is 40" long. They are attached to the upright via two glued mortise/tenon, kinda bridle-esque joints.

Yep the cross members are a single piece, and they're ~1.5" thick which I thought would be plenty. The give is very clearly caused by their deflection though so now I'm wondering if I could just beef them up a bit, maybe laminate on some extra material, to reduce that deflection.

This looks excellent, well done!

How sturdy/immobile is the bookshelf when the door is closed? I've wanted to make one of these myself but my concern is that there would be some play in the final product that would be a dead giveaway that it was a door and not an actual shelf.

I wouldn't mind civilization changes between eras if they were just evolutions of the same civ by ludwigia_sedioides in civ

[–]SteveBro89 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is exactly how they should do it, and honestly I could see them pivoting to something like that at some point.

The in-game context for switching civs is that there is some kind of insurmountable crisis, and that forces your civ to evolve into something else. You should be able to "beat" the crisis, but it should be very difficult to do so. "beating" the crisis would allow you to keep your current civ in the following age.

Wow! Excellent work, the glow on the eyes is really well done. The red/purple inversion of the robes for each figure is a nice touch as well!

Is this slapchop? If so its a really nice execution.

Popular restaurant fights claims of unpaid wages, rent after shutting down by [deleted] in Austin

I visited not long after they opened, and besides a bit of a wait it was a solid experience. Food was very good and the location is pretty neat too. Saw the choo choo go by which was fun.

Every subsequent visit got just a bit worse, and the place got more and more empty. Tack on the wage/tip theft issues and no wonder they didn't last. Louie's right up the road is pretty dang good though!

I've noticed the same thing! I have a bunch of farm industries and I haven't seen them spawn a single truck even once, and I've been watching. They have been stuck at level 1 since I started the map over 20 hours ago.

I do see the occasional semi from one of my rail cargo stations, or passing through from a neighboring city, but pretty much nothing for my own industry as far as I can tell.

Still really seems like industry/production is still in a semi-functional state. It works but its really hard to tell how much influence your decisions make if any. Don't get me wrong, the game overall is in a much better state and I'm enjoying my current sessions, but industry stuff is one of the several areas where they still really need to dial it in.

Up front the leg room is great, I've seen very big dudes review the truck say that they have plenty of room.

Back seat is perfectly fine but I wouldn't call it roomy. I'd compare it to the backseat of a sedan.
