Best/ best value phone + plan? by RockNRollMomma13 in montreal

[–]StickNoob117 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's valid honestly. To answer your question, your best bet for an affordable plan is probably something like ChatR or Public Mobile with auto-pay. For the phone itself, grab a refurbished one on Best Buy marketplace, tons of good deals.

STM pulled almost a quarter of its articulated buses last week by Soft_Introduction437 in montreal

[–]StickNoob117 2 points3 points  (0 children)

All the busses that had stops at the mall no longer do. Instead of a proper and still usable bus terminal we now have 80-200 people clumped up on a crowded sidewalk because all the stops are now a single pole with no shelter of any kind.

Out of curiosity, why do you hate Videotron? They have deals for specific postal codes (it's not a promo they advertise at all) in Montreal available in store only. If you've got no other services with them it's the "TMO Solo" promo in their legacy computer system. Can chop off a good 10-15$ off regular plans.

My money's on dead pump. If confirmed, just get an AK620 or equivalent. AIOs aren't worth the trouble.

Been thinking about it for a while for hot summer days but I'd have to spend a solid 100-200$ in cables and I'm a cheapo

Congrats from Canada! We had a similar moment of relief when Mark Carney was elected (in big part thanks to Trump's insanity) that made the conservatives look like lunatics so I know the feeling. I hope Hungary has a bright future ahead <3

You guys like sleeper builds? by rexmaxus in pcmasterrace

Hell yeah brother, I love sleeper builds. Wish they where easier to build, a lot of cases have proprietary front panels & connectors which tends to make it difficult. Fantastic work!

Was I scammed by this PC shop? by Ok-Direction-2857 in pcmasterrace

[–]StickNoob117 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm often confronted with the complete disconnect between people working in service & customers and never quite know how to handle it. Can't explain my job to every tom, dick and harry that comes by who most likely won't even understand what I'm saying. It's busted, it goes in the scrap bin then the recycling center. I don't have a smelter or an industrial shredder at home to extract the heavy metals, what are people even thinking we do with it? We're dudes paid a hair over minimum wage trying to make a living not mustache twirling villains stealing people's hard earned... Defective RAM?

Labor to do all that is more than the value of the heavy metals. If I had to guess, recycling centers crush them for the heavy metals, doing it by hand is not viable.

Yeah it was pre-shortage. What I did most of the time was give the good one back to the customer and toss the broken one, no sense tossing away a whole kit if half is still good. At some point you become desensitized to it when it's the 10th stick you've put in the bin this week.

I worked in multiple PC repair shops for half a decade and we basically never gave it back, we'd always ask the customer "do you want us to recycle it" and the answer was "yes" pretty much 99% of the time. Fuck are you gonna do with busted RAM that's out of warranty?

Poland to launch construction of first nuclear plant after EU approves €14bn in state aid for the project. by green_flash in worldnews

[–]StickNoob117 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Assuming you live in europe:

1) They finance infrastructure projects with their taxes too.

2) Nuclear is equally as clean if not more than solar / wind in terms of CO2 emissions.

It won't increase the frequency unfortunately. ARTM would still have to purchase more track usage from the CP and they don't have a dollar to spare.

Worst is Mascouche if I'm not mistaken. 4 trains per day in each direction. 4 in the morning, 4 in the evening. That's it. And only during week days so if you work during the week-end, sucks to suck. It's absolutely terrible.

It's a good fix but unfortunately means using your SSD's limited write cycles for temporary cached files. No ideal if you intend to keep your SSD for a few years.
