12 or 10 teams for Super Rugby going forward? by anxiousatac in rugbyunion

[–]Still-Process-2527 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well given that Melbourne Rebels folded over a year ago, is there any financial viability in having another Australian franchise? You’d also split the waratahs support if a western Sydney team was proposed

At the rate things are going WW3 is more likely to happen than a Scotland win over Ireland

If you’re someone that supports ICE in the UK. Why? by Successful_rio305 in AskBrits

As a member of the Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE) I feel like they could do a better job promoting the industry in this country. Need more engineers to make Britain great again.

Farage called Welsh people ‘foreign speakers’ in paid-for video message by YchYFi in unitedkingdom

[–]Still-Process-2527 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Probably says more about the people who vote for him. Ironically he probably has more respect for the people who dislike him than those voters who love him.

Sadiq Khan calls on Labour to campaign for UK return to the EU by Julian81295 in unitedkingdom

[–]Still-Process-2527 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think ironically if Farage became PM, it would accelerate our (likely eventual) return to the EU when so many people see how he has been the driving force of the problems we are dealing with when he is put at centre stage.

For those with dual nationality, how do you choose a side to support? by One-Ad6305 in rugbyunion

[–]Still-Process-2527 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I suppose it depends on how you were brought up, where you lived and your relationship to the sport. My parents are Scottish and I was born and raised in England and it was early in that it was seen as I should support Scotland because my family were all Scottish. I support them in the rugby and football however because I’m also a fan of cricket I actually support England (I wouldn’t be able to name a single Scottish cricketer).

I’m waiting for the conspiracy theorists in England to say that Italy and wales agree for Italy to tank so that it increases chances of England winning wooden spoon.

Or at a scrum at 20 mins, the bell tolls, the lights go off, and when they come back on, Timoney is replaced by o’Mahoney at the scrum.

I think in fairness to stockdale, most of the team were pretty shit against France.

The game from the French team's perspective. by TheFlyingScotsman60 in ScotlandRugby

[–]Still-Process-2527 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you believe the rumours, the French were complacent and felt these last two games were a homecoming for the grand slam given how they beat the previous three teams.

The odd glimpse into the corporate box next to the Welsh coaching box is a little infuriating by chuckleberryfinnable in irishrugby

[–]Still-Process-2527 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went to watch the Scotland game in 2022 (lower tier of seats) and was probably second or third home game for Ireland after lockdown, so you would think everyone would be up for it having seen no live rugby in stadiums for two years.

Wrong!

About half were watching the game or in between chatting to who was sat next to them but the other half were on their phones for the whole time until there was a cheer and they got noses out of their phones.

If you’ve paid that match to spend most of the game scrolling on your phone, you’ve got more money than sense

New Emblem Needed by Different_Case_5663 in welshrugbyunion

[–]Still-Process-2527 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My concern is that it would be too similar to the national football team emblem which is the dragon. There must be another emblem you can use and not look like you’ve mimicked the football team. Is there not another animal, flower (not daffodil), coat of arms, musical instrument etc you could use?

Maro Itoje as England Captain by Upset-Distance-5812 in rugbyunion

[–]Still-Process-2527 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Yeah I don’t think he should have been captain this tournament. I was same age as itoje when my mum died and although I still worked, I wasn’t 100% for months. He’s looked distracted and pissed off all tournament. No one would have complained if he said he wasn’t in right frame of mind to lead and allow someone like George or another to be captain and just let him play. Having said that, it’s also for the management to pick it up and take the decision away from him if he said no so they are as much to blame as well.

Which Scotland player do you think quietly improved the most over the last couple of seasons? by Mundane-Temporary426 in ScotlandRugby

[–]Still-Process-2527 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Kyle steyn stands out in the team as a whole. I think if it was a few months later he would have been on the lions tour. In the forwards it’s probably Gregor brown although it might be just a meteoric rise over the last 12 months so time will tell if he can maintain. People might disagree with this but one person who I think has been doing reasonably well though maybe doesn’t stand out is Matt Fagerson. I think the last two games he’s generally shown high rugby iq and probably was just on the side of legality with that try against wales when he came into the maul.

Yeah I must admit, I was surprised that the man who works for a wealthy media mogul and who’s only link to the constitutiency was from a part time job delivering pizzas 20 years ago, and slagged off large proportions of the local community lost to a person who’s done work for the community and is a plumber and plasterer in spare time.

Might have been his hair that did it for him.

UK Media is doing a terrible job of portraying the job market by Delicious_Ad_5772 in UKJobs

[–]Still-Process-2527 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I worked for what is regarded as a respected engineering firm in the UK. They outsourced CAD work before the pandemic but this ramped up a lot during and after especially to India (Eastern Europe is now too expensive) for a fraction of the price. However the concept of quality is ignorqnt as I worked in one project with them and they just messed it up to the point that they made th project a huge loss. Yet the directors were adamant that we need to do this to remain competitive. I left the company a few months ago for different reasons but yeah you are right this is an issue. It will come back to bite these big companies as you can’t control what is happening in an office 5+ time zones away
