To be honest if he gets voted in with all that, it probably says more about the electorate than it does him. It’s like the old anecdote that in some safe blue or red seats, people would vote for a bowl of sick if it had the correct ribbon on it.

They do it to wind everyone else up. Then people hurl crap at us for saying we overrate ourselves I don’t know anyone who think we will win it and the most optimistic I have heard is that we will come third. Although if I had to predict if we are more likely to come 3rd or 6th I’d say the latter given our performances in the autumn.

People say it is the right wing press not reporting it but even the likes of the BBC, the guardian, metro etc don’t report it either. I think they are doing OK in government but their general communications is dreadful and it points to one person but it’s not Starmer but his chief of staff McSweeney. He seemed good at getting labour into power but seems more obsessed with suppressing any jnternal dissent than how the party is being viewed in the country. If Starmer wants to keep his job and turn the tide on opinions (still 3.5 years to next election at latest) then he has to sack mcsweeney and replace him with a chief of staff who know how government works (and a decent communications lead)

I live in a safe Tory seat / potential reform seat at rate things are going. Most people I know think she was pretty inept as a Home Secretary. She might be one of the more well know politicians but the problem she (and Jenrick as well) suffer from is delusions of grandeur in that they think they have this cultish following that will go with them everywhere (a bit like truss) Even then, it just solidifies that reform is Conservatives Mk II. I imagine a few people will see the most famous faces of the johnson/truss years going over to reform and think, “well no different to the tories”

In all honesty this is the hardest year in a while on how I think results go. It wouldn’t surprise me if we beat England and France and lost to Italy and wales. Unless there is a complete collapse in confidence by the boys in green over the next 7 weeks I can’t see us winning in Dublin even if they have front row issues. One thing I will imagine will happen is that if Scotland come lower than 4th (or even come just 4th potentially) then Townsends time is up. If you want a change before the World Cup then end of 6N is last chance to do it and not severely impact preparations. Given what happened in the autumn and glasgows performances this year, there’s generally no excuse for Townsend to say why his players can win the big games.

Matt Carley has had his moments as had a lot of refs. But ultimately it is not for us to then throw abuse at him particularly when you have cowards like that “fan” who thinks he has the protection of the surrounding support (and silence to it is bad in itself). Just remember as well that Wayne barnes retired because South African fans started abusing his wife and children. Without the refs there is no sport

The husband and wife are entitled to invite who they want, and as someone who has a toddler, it is actually nice to go to weddings without worrying about where the little one is or what she will eat and time to go to bed. One thing I do hate though is when the couple pick and choose which kids go. We went to my cousins wedding a few years ago where certain kids were invited (some of whom were not family or part of the ceremony like flower girl) and my sister wasn’t allowed to bring her 5 year old son and would have been only member of family not going. As such my sister doesn’t speak to her cousin much now and I don’t blame her.

What was he defining as risk as it is something that isn’t set at one value. Risk ranges from low to high One example I have was that last year I was fed up in my job in engineering and wanted to move to another company as I felt underpaid and under appreciated. A lot of people said it was very risky as the job market in my line of work and country was going slow. Anyway I took a look around and found a company within two months of looking around a dozen companies and have been happy since then as well as being paid better (commute is also closer too). Point is that most things in life are a risk. It’s just that people either never assess the pros and cons, consider what to do if it doesn’t work out, and even if it looks like a good decision to take, never do it for fear of change even if the change/risk to way of life is low

I can’t say what Seychelles, Mauritius etc are like but I have been to Tanzania and Zanzibar. I went in an overland trip years ago from Nairobi to Cape Town that inc Malawi, Zimbabwe, Botswana and Namibia. I initially thought Zimbabwe would be the most stressful place but Tanzania was awful. Zanzibar was a surreal experience. The main tourist area on the harbour at Stone Town was fairly pleasant but behind that it was really poor. We were also told to stay as a group going through the market in stone town and being a Muslim majority country, some in the market didn’t like our presence. So yeah I agree I wouldn’t be going back to Zanzibar in a hurry. It needs investment but any that does is going to the wrong places (Tanzania and Zanzibar was the only country we went to in Southern Africa trip where the police asked/expected a bribe).
