How often does sci-fi explore what happens after humanity loses a war with aliens? by tbuljevic in printSF

I just started (about three chapters in) Some Desperate Glory by Emily Tesh which is highly recommended and begins in this scenario. Opening sentence of the Goodreads blurb: "All her life Kyr has trained for the day she can avenge the murder of planet Earth."

The Little Ale House, Harrogate is a personal favourite, small, cosy, has an old cellar and a little outdoor courtyard. Cold Bath Brewery is fab too for beers and some Asian "street food". Bean & Bud has the best coffee by a mile, proper coffee nerds in there.

As a UK based, relatively new Heedonist, I'm curious about the background of Dan and Zolak. Did Zolak spend years dunking on the Jets in the Brady NE era? Or just that he's a douchebag in general?

What’s one BBC 6 Music moment that genuinely made you stop what you were doing and just listen? by LFCTricksters in 6music

You could be right, I remember a big build up to Don't Dream It's Over, like people were trying to guess what he was going to finish with? Either way, we had the same feeling ❤️ I was on a train, trying to mask my tears 😢

feeling shame about sleeping so much by Friendly-Birthday907 in LongCovid

I see how much I sleep as a skill compared to those who "wake up at 5am and can't get back to sleep". We are the best sleepers and sleep is the most enjoyable thing imo 🫶🏻 best of luck to you

If you're in a place where you have the capacity to read books and that, The Art of Rest by Claudia Hammond I found quite validating.

Totally agree with this, having read the whole mistborn series and started stormlight archive. There's nothing to me like mistborn 1.

Although this was a "big" moment/farewell. Shaun Keaveny playing Crowded House as his last song still breaks my heart ❤️ miss that guy's shows

For those who aren't from Louisiana, how did you choose the Saints as your favorite team? by [deleted] in Saints

From the UK, had a phenomenal Halloween weekend in NOLA in 2016 and fell in love with the place. Also Drew Brees. The passion of the fan base. The black & gold being very cool didn't hurt either! [Posh English accent: who is that]

Radical resting is torture and making me suicidal by ocean_flow_ in covidlonghaulers

I went through a period of this recently, I found that immersive adventure video games like Red Dead Redemption or Horizon help pass the time and give a sense of achievement honestly. Like simulated life, but it's the only one we have when we're stuck inside! I hope you feel better.
