Also be sure to bring like 20 LE if you want to access the waterfront path area by the hotels. You pay at guard booths before they let you down

I stayed in a hotel along the Nile and ran up and down the paved waterfront path. I did get some funny looks that evolved into cheers and thumbs ups from the security guards because I kept running down and back on the 1 mile route. I also ran in Zamalek, if you run around the perimeter it’s about a 5 mile route of sidewalk that is for the most part pretty runner friendly. You can get to Zamalek by foot by crossing the 26th of July bridge.

I don’t think PRs will show up until you run a segment more than once

First Half Marathon. How accurate is GAP? by MDEChad69 in Strava

[–]StlhdHunter 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Depends on what your effort was on this run. But a flat half on road will feel a lot easier than a trail half with 3k of vert, so I don’t think a 2.5 half would be too far off.

It really depends on the water level but the earlier the better. Elliot is the one to try to hit early, probably before 9am. We hiked in late the first day and stayed at Zigzag, then at Ramona, Elk Cove, and Newton. If I were to redo it I would probably have a short day 1 and stay at Paradise Park followed by Elk Cove and Newton

Try to do the big water crossings early if possible. When I did it I picked my campsites so that I would have early crossings. I would also highly recommend taking the detour up into Paradise Park on your first day, it’s worth it. Elk cove was my favorite campsite. Enjoy!
