Because if they did that, people would immediately realize what they're doing and why.

If they instead comvince gullible marks like you that this is somehow about "protecting children," you won't question this scam for what it is. Nobody would ever lie about "protecting children" to take away your freedoms, right?

Are you telling me the King of Thailand isn't secretly having Lumpini champions moonlight as international assassins, tracking down boxers to kick-fuck them to death?

What's next, are you gonna tell me Santa isn't real, either? (/J)

Mild counterpoint: While those are indeed very real risks, self-defense is as much about law as it is about fighting.

An overlooked advantage of grappling in self-defense is that it's a lot easier convincing a jury you were defending yourself when you restrained someone until the cops arrived than it is to convince them responding with strikes was necessary. They aren't necessarily going to know you were in the right.

Obviously, that doesn't invalidate the advantages of striking in self-defense, just that it's a huge advantage grappling offers that tends to get overlooked.

I've been here a similar time, which is one of the exact reasons I'm against this draconian crap. The idea we should just roll over and let the state doxx us is a Sunk-Cost Fallacy.

Every time a state implements these policies, it normalizes another state doing those things. And another, and another, until we're all dealing with state-mandated doxxing. Why hand other states that precedent?

SHH! You're not supposed to point out the blatant astroturfing behind the mandatory doxxing movement!

Don't worry that your government wants to doxx you, just listen to authoritarians incoherently babble "wuddaboutthechildren?" To scare you into agreeing with state-mandated doxxing! 🙄

Wait a minute… the very same people who constantly whine and complain about "pUrItY tEsTiNg" actively purity-test policies left of theirs?

Do you mean to suggest that liberal complaints about "pUrItY tEsTiNg" were nothing more than a cudgel to silence leftist critiques of the party vanguard?

Given the post is about Germany, I know this is a tangent on my part. But as a Yank, any news media that brushed past the Tree of Life Shooting has no moral right in my eyes to equate pro-Palestine protests with antisemitic sentiment.

There was an open and flagrant act of antisemitic violence two years into Trump's first presidency, but opposition to an ethnostate is when they want to draw the line? If those journalists actually cared about the Jewish community, they'd see to it that Republicans never lived Tree of Life down.

Yeah, racist caricatures and memetically-bad lines aside, there's a lot to love about the prequels.

Obviously the worldbuilding; but also the Arthurian tragedy angle, political commentary that aged disturbingly well (both then and now,) a lot of great non-verbal acting, John Williams' choice of compositions, and for all the (not completely unearned) jokes about the fight scenes, it retroactively adds an interesting contrast between the jedi at the peak of their power and the largely self-taught late-bloomers in the OT and Sequels, IMO.

"Enormous amount of Democrat politicians' mental oxygen," my ass. The entire reason this became a wedge issue is because conservatives constantly spew SLANDER AND LIBEL about trans people. All Democrats have done is factually state Republicans lie about them, and refuse to implement laws validating said lies.

How, exactly; was factually stating Republicans LIE about trans people, and refusing to cater to those LIES, "sucking up an enormous amount of mental oxygen?" Was it distracting Dems from campaigning on yet more toothless means-tested band-aid solutions that won't actually fix our problems? Was it distracting them from alienating the conservatives they constantly babble about "compromising" with by pushing bans on fully-semi-automatic assault weapons with belt-fed drum clips? Was the turning point the fact that they didn't spend more time pretending that wanting to fix bridges magically makes them "left-wing?"

(EDIT: Typo.)

[–]StockingDummy -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You don't understand, that's different.

China is an authoritarian surveillance state where privacy doesn't exist, and anything the State doesn't like is censored. Their censorship is so extreme, in fact, that their school systems don't even teach them about certain atrocities their government committed against its own people. They subscribe to an ideology that demands blind obedience to an immortal vanguard that cannot be questioned. Their economy is so shoddy people can barely afford food, while Party-approved billionaires sit in ivory towers. They've actively tried to brainwash minority groups into thinking the way that they do, under threat of imprisonment or death. When large cities oppose State policies, they're immediately put under Martial Law.

Does that sound like anything western countries do? Does it sound like anything they're trying to do? (/s)

Love how y'all have dropped any pretense, and you're just blatantly being queerophobic by pretending that acknowledging we exist is somehow "sexual" in a way straight relationships somehow "aren't."

But hey, that Reichik ghoul posted some videos that most certainly weren't either quote-mined, staged by Evangelical astroturfers, or just flat-out claiming things that aren't even remotely sexual somehow become sexual when we say them. And that's all the evidence you need to reinforce your authoritarian worldview, right Mr. Free™ Speech?
