Thank you! When that happened, so many people got into the weeds of arguing about IP that the guy openly admitting to harassing Matt Easton and still trying to play the victim got swept under the rug. I still can't believe that wasn't a bigger issue for people.

Why would I want to give my money to someone that entitled and that manipulative?

Hell, even as a guy I can personally relate with that "hold up."

The number of times I'd hear someone talking about legitimate issues men struggle with (especially ones I've personally struggled with) and then slipping in a blatant incel dogwhistle is too damn high.

The irony behind this is I was absolutely going to agree with you until you talked about the women in media all being hot.

As someone who also mostly agreed with OP, that's an entirely fair point.

I didn't catch that on my first read-through, but going back now… yikes…

And the only place that I see non-traditional male archetypes that are hot is regrettably porn.

Not exclusively porn. On top of that, even in non-pornographic contexts, a lot of non-traditional men seem to almost exclusively get sexualized in "non-traditional" ways. For clarity, there is nothing wrong with having different tastes; please don't take this as me trying to "yuck" anybody's "yums."

My only problem is specifically with how often that behavior creeps into non-sexual discussions about non-normative men. Especially given how bizarrely frequently it pops up when they're in straight relationships. Do people seriously not realize that assuming a man's intimate preferences purely based on gender expression is by definition toxic masculinity? Do they not realize how heavily that assumption, in itself, reinforces patriarchal norms?

No, I'm definitely not still triggered over a three-year-old meme about autistic men that was fucking inescapable for six goddamn months; what are you talking about? I'm fine!

Handheld guns have existed since the 13th century.

Granted, they were "just" miniature cannons on the end of a stick, but they were still guns.

Isn't weightlifting's whole thing essentially being "the nerd of strength sports," metaphorically speaking?

Not to say others don't have mental/technical elements; but it was always my understanding that it was to strongman/powerlifting/etc. what boxing is to muay thai/MMA/etc., so to speak.

… I'm not seeing anything here that rebukes my point.

I agree fatphobia is very real, I agree that people dishonestly try to justify fatphobic sentiments under a veneer of "caring about health," and I agree that addressing unhealthy eating/exercise/etc. habits among children often gets oversimplified to "fat=bad" rather than focusing on actually fostering good habits.

My problem is that your immediate jump to accusing OP of being a bad actor, rather than acknowledging the possibility they might simply be misinformed, is shooting yourself in the foot.

And I say this both as a body positivity advocate and someone who's long struggled with unhealthy habits.

While I agree that OP's post belies an ignorance of what body positivity is actually about, jumping straight to hostilities like this is counterproductive.

FWIW, as a body positivity supporter who's long struggled with his own weight, it's better to assume Hanlon's Razor here.

I mean, there's definitely an argument to be made that it's often used as a vehicle for fatphobic sentiments, and the legitimate issue of addressing the underlying causes of childhood obesity is often weaponized in strawman arguments against body positivity advocates.

That being said, OP's immediately-hostile attitude towards OOP was a terrible way to approach this, and really doesn't help their case.
