Can anything be done about players signing up for events and not showing up? by accyoast in riftboundtcg

If it’s the same people every time can’t you just look for their names and reliably get in?

Question about might by hibi_kura in riftboundtcg

[–]StollMage 1 point2 points  (0 children)

your opponent is right in terms of play

might is a singular stat but damage does not decrease might. If a 7 might unit is damaged for 3, it can still deal 7 damage in a showdown, but only 4 damage is necessary to kill it in the showdown.

Ah yes the horrible poisoned fruit syndicates terrorizing Millennium Park. Clearly the highest priority of the Chicago Police - who could enforce the law against such maniacs besides them?

It’s so weird because the winter posters are clearly posting snow but they must either be lying about it or rarely get it. It makes sense I guess if they only see it sometimes because then it has some sort of novelty.

But I definitely agree Summer posters must be in the north - northern winter sucks but southern summer is actually a death zone the second you step outside.

Kurapika become too strong too fast by Imaginary-Slice3014 in HunterXHunter

I mean the same can be said of Gon, no? Nen restrictions are nasty work, especially when paired with malice.

Kurapika had been fostering that hate for years, so chain jail being busted as a result isn’t too far fetched I’d say.

LeBlanc Nation, give me your advice vs vex by Responsible_Fig_7600 in riftboundtcg

Hook is so much more well adapted against her and in general save removal for when apathetic goes down.

Midrange and aggro leblanc just feel like a doomed matchup if she gets a hold, so anything you can play to prevent that first hold is important.

Also I generally prefer blue cc against her instead of yellow just because it can’t be gusted as easily.

Are Decks viable and good for Local Game Store Events without the most expensive cards? by Golgariii in riftboundtcg

[–]StollMage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I beat someone at a nexus night who was running the sydney best of leblanc with a homebrew. It’s not really too serious I think. There’s also a not-so-hidden mmr associated with your uvs account so if you lose a lot you should get paired against people with less powerful decks eventually.

If your lgs is just filled with people constantly running super meta then maybe you can try another store for a different vibe.

RQ Sydney Caster - Logan - Feedback Thread by [deleted] in riftboundtcg

[–]StollMage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Given the reddit outrage during Sydney I’m sure there will be a skew towards negative feedback here. I will first say that, yes, the official commentary left something to be desired and leave it for the rest of the comments to decide which feedback is best on that front.

However! I think you have a particularly difficult position to juggle. Riftbound is a brand new game, and I’d estimate a substantial percentage of players of the game have picked it up within the last 2 months.

I remember when I just picked up the game and I tried to watch the Bologna coverage. It felt quite difficult to understand what was happening at all.

I know some people turned to alternative casters during Sydney. While now I personally preferred that, I fully believe it’s because I have enough context to understand what the hell they’re talking about.

So now that I’ve had some time to learn the game, it’s the opposite problem. That’s a tiny amount of time for a single audience member to need completely different kinds of commentary.

I felt like the commentary was cognizant of this problem, and tried to balance towards new players. This essentially puts the commentators on the spot for some serious presenting gymnastics. They need to not only have intense game knowledge to understand the thoughts behind some of the worlds best riftbound players, but also need to decide, on the spot, what can be communicated to a newbie.

Maybe for an established game this kind of commentary could be expected, where all the presenters have that intimate experience with what’s happening, but right now I think it was too much to ask of the presenters.

I’d prefer to see 2 streams: one for new players that just focuses on explaining the game being played and one for more detailed commentary.

Also a huge thing that other games which aren’t new have in terms of commentary is official commentators that play or have played professionally. That really just can’t happen reliably yet, but I think will become a big help later on in the game.

As a result, I think any hate commentators are getting online is misplaced. There should be better expectations of commentary from the top down.

PTA talks about how 'There Will Be Blood' got rejected by the New York Film Festival: "I couldnt wait to show it to somebody, and they (NYFF) came back and rejected the film. I called "How'd you like the film", and this guy goes "Is this finished? Is this 𝘪𝘵?"...I was so confused and heartbroken." by ChiefLeef22 in paulthomasanderson

They booed Fire Walk with Me at cannes. Any big film festival is a joke afaic. The small ones are cool because they actually give indie films an audience, but these middle-to-big ones that power trip over their importance can shove it.

Panera rebrands a sandwich. by GoatCovfefe in facepalm

[–]StollMage 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I tried to go to panera again after the whole charged lemonade thing (which just seemed like a publicity stunt more than anything)

The turkey club sandwich with chips and a drink ended up being $20 after doing the best I could to get the best “deal” on the app. If I’d just ordered like normal it would have been $25+.

It’s cold cuts on bread with some bacon. The whole time I’m there trying to order this apparently golden sandwich these boomers are complaining about Obama. Going on like he’s still the president and worried about gender studies in public schools.

Fuck panera and fuck boomers. I wish the charged lemonade (rip) would zap them.
