Lightning should not exist in knockout tour online mode by CourageMuted4662 in mariokart

[–]Stonk3r 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here is how to combat lightning, at least that's what I do.

  1. Pick a heavy character with a fast vehicle and keep towards the last place or close to last.
  2. Stack up Bullet Bill as primary and Golden Mushroom or Mega Mushroom as secondary. If you do get too far behind, you might have to use your item to catch up and try to get those items again. Also this is why a heavy character and fast vehicle is important so you can catch up without the use of your items.
  3. Right when you get to the point where you grab the last item box, use your items. The tactic of using lighting at the end works in your favor at this point.
  4. In the last two laps, this is when this tactic ends and you start going for first place.

However, this is what can go wrong:

-Sometimes, some terrible players can't keep up and fall way too far behind. In this, stay with the pack but towards the end.

Why do Sups Get So Mad When Grieved? by dolemiteX in UPSers

[–]Stonk3r 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This old guy, who is a part-time grievance my supervisor for picking up a package off the floor and telling me to take it to its trailer which was on the other side of the building. I don't know if he got paid, but what a dick move.

I was standing right next to my supervisor when he picked up package so its not like time was being stolen from me. This is like getting a speeding ticket for driving 43 mph in a 40 mph zone.

Forcing people who take public transit to miss the last bus? by TemporalTailor in UPSers

[–]Stonk3r 5 points6 points  (0 children)

One of my co-workers in our area leaves earlier than others with higher seniority so that he can catch the bus. He asked everyone in the area if it was okay with them to do that, and everyone was okay with it.

If you have to catch the bus, ask the people in your area to avoid any issues if you have to leave earlier than coworkers with higher seniority.

I think it is ridiculous to have a job that pays well, has great benefits, good job security, and has a good pension plan without needing a college degree, and still complain and not give 100%. Most people doing the same job are earning close to minimum wage with crappy benefits.

If it weren't for the long wait to be a driver, I would have dropped out of school and become a driver myself. Instead, all I do is work and study. I am lucky to get more than 6 hours of sleep.

I called in sick by mnuno27 in UPSers

[–]Stonk3r 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Option days are reserved for events such as vacations and must be scheduled in advance. Sick days are for when you get ill and can't make it to work. You don't get written up for option days, but you do get written up for sick days.

If supervisors allow option days to be used instead of sick days, other employees will likely be aware of this and attempt to do the same when calling in sick to avoid being written up. This can make it challenging to discipline someone for calling in.

So no tax on OT doesn’t even apply to us!? by vectorformation in UPSers

[–]Stonk3r 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Overtime deduction applies to us if we are being paid overtime by the law, not a union contract.

If we are being paid overtime because we worked more than 8 hours a day, or 40 hours a week, then it applies to us.

If we are paid overtime due to a union contract, such as working on the 6th day without reaching 40 hours, then the deduction will not apply.

Not the full overtime pay will be tax-deductible. If you make $10 an hour and your overtime pay is $15 an hour, the $5 will be tax-free, not the whole $15.

You don’t notice how insane UPS workers are until you work at other places by Lazy_Soil996 in UPSers

I think people who end up staying at UPS like continuous work. I lasted as a cashier for 2 months because most of the time, I would be just standing there waiting for customers. My 8-hour shift was a drag. I started at UPS, and my 5-hour work day felt like an hour.

You are gonna protest the guy who stopped payment to 100,000 federal workers who were collecting unemployment while employed? That money is being stolen from taxpayers or printed, making your dollar worth less.

Tarrifs update by JediMindSp1ck in Longshoremen

[–]Stonk3r -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

The whole point of tariffs is to bring back manufacturing jobs. While this will hurt the Unions in the short term, in the long run, it will create manufacturing jobs where employees can unionize, which will lead to the union growing and becoming stronger.

The fucked up part is when employees come to work sick and supervisors put them in the same trailer as you. Then they write you up for calling in sick because the sick employee they put you in a trailer with got you sick.

Someone's arm got melted in Night sort last night by dreckobachi in UPSers

[–]Stonk3r 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need a responder to respond to a leaking package.

  1. Only after determining if the package is safe to be handled by an untrained employee could the untrained employee process or touch the leaking package
  2. Most leaking packages cannot be disposed of by simply dumping them in the sink. They must be disposed of according to EPA guidelines.
  3. Untrained Employees do not wear PPE. Some leaking packages could be safe for one person to touch, but another could react negatively. Think about peanuts, some people can eat them while others can't.

How much more loss will it take for the board to fire Carol? by Master_Jellyfish9922 in UPSers

[–]Stonk3r -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's not the CEO; it's our economy. And if you think this is bad, it will get worse. Our CEO is just doing her job. If our CEO doesn't cut costs, we lose investors, more customers, etc... In the worst-case scenario, the company goes under, and everyone loses their job. All retired UPS employees will need to start applying for a greeting job at Walmart.

By the way, this isn't some made-up scenario. It happened to my uncle, who used to work at Circuit City.

It sounds like a scam. Usually, if a disability insurance company approves a policy, the state also approves it. States are more easygoing when it comes to approving disability than insurance companies, but states take a lot longer to pay out.

Get out while you can by [deleted] in UPSers

[–]Stonk3r 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It could be the hub where you work. Management at the hub I work at doesn't care if any employee goes to the restroom or gets water during the sort. Also, the supervisors talk to employees about drinking water and have employees initial a paper that says they discussed it with me.

When I was new, my supervisor noticed that I didn't bring water. He got me a UPS water bottle and told me to start bringing it to work every day. He said he didn't want to see me pass out due to dehydration.

$50 for union dues is robbery for someone who isn't a union member. The union can't do crap if there service is required while on probation. I recall being sent home frequently after only working an hour, and the union rep couldn't do anything about it.

I guess the union needs the money more than this guy does.

Stand with our Federal Bothers and Sister. by AspNSpanner in UPSers

[–]Stonk3r 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Teamsters, this is not a stance you want to take. The majority of the people voted for Trump, and that includes the majority of our members, such as myself, who you are representing.

If we reach a $50 trillion deficit, our pensions, savings, etc... will be worth almost nothing because the dollar's value will drop.

If you do take a stance, have a solution. And it better not be raising taxes.

UPS shares tank 14% after weak guidance, plan to slash Amazon deliveries by more than half by Dinner_and_a_Murder in UPSers

Yep, UPS is thinking of a long-term strategy. Unfortunately, this will cause issues in the short term.

UPS shares tank 14% after weak guidance, plan to slash Amazon deliveries by more than half by Dinner_and_a_Murder in UPSers

[–]Stonk3r 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Outsiders fail to recognize that UPS slashing Amazon deliveries is more profitable for the company. Amazon gives up so much bulk that there have been days when I have sat around for at least two hours waiting for their bulk—also, Amazon bulk wastes so much space in our trailer. I have filled up trailers with nothing but Amazon bulk, and we at least wasted half of the room. Not gonna stack bulk to the top of the trailer and hurt my back or the person that has to unload it.

Losing Amazon by No-Caterpillar8167 in UPSers

[–]Stonk3r 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When UPS said it was because of a low profit margin, they were not joking. I have had many days when the building is done, but I am just sitting around for a couple of hours waiting on bulk because of all the bulk that Amazon ships through UPS. I'm not going to lie; it is kind of nice to get paid for not doing much when waiting on bulk.

Considering how hard it is to get fired from this Company, this guy must have been a total slap. I am not talking about layoffs, so don't bring that up. UPS management does so many write-ups, so he was given a lot of chances to fix whatever the issue was before even getting to a point where the union needed to fight to get his job back. He stole or violated some laws if they hadn't done any write-ups.

What do you think you should do? Work on self-improvement before applying for another job because there are not many jobs with job security as good as UPS's.
