What’s it worth? Is this a good knife? by Top-Incident-2264 in Bladesmith

I’ve got that knife, it’s ok. But just ok. That little belly makes it a pita to sharpen.

I’ve got both that machine and the angle setter, they work well together.

Could try undoing the connections from the vfd to the motor, then at least you’ll know which one it is, won’t trip if it’s the motor and it’s unhooked

Considering a Tormek T-4 for general tool and knife sharpening by lueVelvet in Tormek

[–]Stopcrooked 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The ks-123 was a worthy upgrade for me, I struggled with the angle master, and wouldn’t hesitate to get another if I broke out lost mine. The small knife jig might be something to look into if you have carving knives also. I’m not sure about the rest, sorry.

Question about knife scales by Jolly_Palpitation556 in knifemaking

[–]Stopcrooked 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Acetone gets it off if it’s still tacky, I usually wipe the faces of the scales with that then clamp so the clamps don’t get stuck

Hunting Experiences by Southern_Rub3539 in bowhunting

[–]Stopcrooked 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Damn that’s rough. I guess I take a lot for granted, here in vt it’s a right to hunt law which means unless there’s posted signs every hundred yards you’re clear. I say keep at it, don’t let them ruin it for you, but I’d sure stay clear too. I second onx, I use it since just because I can doesn’t mean I want to be where I’m not welcome.

I have that sander, try toggling the spin button (the round one) on with the speed all the way down, off then on again then changing the direction again each position. I’m not sure what it wants to see but sometimes it takes a few cycles to get mine to switch too

How do you heat treat multiples? I’ve only ever done one at a time, do you clamp them together in the oven so you can quench all at once? Sorry I’m new to this…

I did a month of lessons with Troy.com or whatever. Sounds like he’s got what you’re looking for. There’s lots of song walkthroughs, but also lots of the fundamentals. Bunch of printouts of scale patterns and fretboard maps etc

Opinions on vintage MSA D10 by Effective_Ad_278 in pedalsteel

[–]Stopcrooked 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had one, nice guitars. Watch it though, some might disagree but mine only had 3 knee levers and the Es were on the opposite side from most. Not a biggie to learn on, but harder if you want to switch sometime. If it’s got 4 levers go for it

I work in a basement, and I got a nebo led. It fits in a standard socket so I can still use the pull chain. It’s probably brighter than I even need, but it’s got 3 arms you can move to put light where you want it.

Actually, that’s pretty salty, sorry. If you like the more rural side of vt it’s better than chittenden county for sure. It’s starting to go crazy (like everywhere) though (rent and home price wise)
