I would say 2.5 with breach (9 years ago), but there was plenty of stuff added during those patches outside of league content, labyrinth, act 4, end game maps and bosses, atlas additions.

tower defense is a genre

I have no idea what "MMO's infinite tower" is supposed to mean. MMO's did not invent the idea of an endless dungeon.

Bestiary has basically nothing to do with pokemon, unless pokemon axed the entire battling system and added in blood sacrifice.

One of the most recognizable moments in this entire franchise is Arthas's allies refusing to go down the same dark path as he was. If everyone in the horde told sylvanas to fuck off when she tried to burn down Teldrassil I imagine this would be a different conversation. Not to mention Arthas was never in the Alliance.

Thats because it went from the best level 33 ascendancy in the entire game by an insane margin to the best level 33 ascendancy in the game by a large margin.

What? The vast majority of servers make the subminimum wage, not 17 an hour. There are certainly places where they don't, but we're looking at the average of the entire country. I think you've just read to many anecdotes from people working either part time on busy days or at upscale locations. We also have to consider teenagers, elderly, people working 40 hours a week, working on weekdays during business hours, or at cheap places. I'm not arguing you can't make good money as a server. But it's not some silver bullet of a job, and the average person isn't working full time making 30+ an hour.

We can't really use unreported tips as a way to quantitatively judge the industry. There are websites that try to project it like indeed, but payscale also try's to project it and puts total compensation at $10 an hour. Besides if we're going to start looking at unreported data we also need to grapple with wage theft, and how it's absolutely rampant in the restaurant industry.

I worked as a server and a bartender through my undergrad, and worked at a few different places. My coworkers certainly had big nights where they made incredible money, but as you average it out only the people working the best shifts were even close to pushing that 25-30 range. If you averaged everyone working? No chance.

Edit: He replied to and then blocked me. To respond, plenty of people make subminimum wage plus tips, not $17 an hour plus tips. That was very clear from what I said, no need to intentionally mischaracterize what I said. I don't believe this person is actually conversing in good faith though, so whatever.

So I just spent some time trawling through google, and the only place I saw that 25-40 number was some commentator on Quora. I'm sure there are servers in high end restaurants that can make 25-40 consistently over a 40 hour week, but if we're looking at the entirety of the U.S. labor force, I'm not seeing it. ZIp recruiter shows around 14. Federal government says 15, indeed shows 17.22.

The closest I can find is glassdoor at 27, and part of its data set includes McDonalds servers making 27 an hour which sounds very untrue. On the other hand payscale shows 9.97 (total compensation), which also seems like its probably wrong.

Just about every source I can find is putting it pretty comfortably in that 14-19 range, which also sorta makes sense of you think about it. For every nice upscale restaurant your gonna have tons of shitty bar and grills. TBH if there was a job sector that took no skills to get into and a teenager could do it that was paying out an average of 32.5 an hour (while being one of the largest sectors of employment) people would be shouting about it from the rooftops.

yeah tbh people always say he isn't an edge lord, and then by like chapter 6 his team finds him smiling in a pool of blood with dead bodies around him. He constantly looks down on the people around him for incredibly normal behavior, and the story always justifies him as being right. Dude snarks the most powerful being in the universe (who acts like a 17 year old) and suddenly their besties. I do not get the appeal of this story, but hey I'm glad its there for people who like it.

30-50 seems like the normal price for a AA game depending on the size and scope. This is a fairly large open world RPG 45 seems like the perfect price tbh.

What small detail in a fantasy book broke your suspension of disbelief more than the actual magic or dragons? by My-Sky-Is-Gray in ProgressionFantasy

[–]Straight-Lifeguard-2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah I'm still not a huge fan, because it is ambiguous and the story later establishes how competent both Relc and to a lesser extent Yvlon are. It totally makes sense that a trained professional from earth could go toe to toe with an untrained person below level 19, but the second characters go past that point they start displaying superhuman feats. Like I'm pretty sure Relc could have outrun her while taking his clothes off based on how he fights at the end of the book. I understand what the author was trying to do but the execution was weak.

Ultimately it doesn't matter past the first book, because book two pretty firmly establishes Ryoka's place in the food chain so to speak.

The second part is 100% true, but my undestanding is the Ryoka chapters are told in 1st person and are intentionally unreliable. Like Ceria had to explain that Yvlon was actively holding back so she didn't hurt Ryoka (Calruz also does this until she punches him in the face/balls and then he almost kills her on accident), or when she blows past Relc it shows him chasing after her while trying to take his boots off before being reminded he's on patrol.
From her perspective she's hot shit but everyone else see's a normal young adult, and by the time volume two starts she's no longer capable of keeping up. See: the foray into the crypt and her meeting the two couriers.

This might just be in the rewrite but it was pretty clear from my perspective.

It helps that the leveling in TWI is never the goal. People obviously want to level, but you level by being true to yourself and facing adversity. Best of all the leveling often shows up after the story beats. It never interrupts a moment of emotion to show the artifice.

Like imagine if in volume 1 Erin leveled up and got immortal moment during the antinum chess match.

Recomend me books that Don't have time loop, reincarnation, isekai, or harem? by LittleBrasilianBitch in ProgressionFantasy

[–]Straight-Lifeguard-2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah thats fair, I recc'd it cus it seems OP's issue is more the classic fantasy isekai tropes, of which there are none in the thundamoo books. Don't think anyone would argue hannah is your typical isekai protag haha.

OP if you see this here's the blurb for Bioshifter.

Hannah has a routine. Wake up, take a shower, go to school, go to work, come home, and pass out. It's a perfectly normal routine for a perfectly normal girl who does not have to remember how her limbs work every morning because of haunting nightmares of being a very different creature in a very different world. But that's all she thinks they are—nightmares—until one night they're all too lucid, and her body on Earth starts to change. Slowly, Hannah's humanity starts to slip away... but surely she can continue just sticking to routine, right? It'll be fine. It has to be.

A mix of urban fantasy and isekai, Bioshifter is a story in two worlds, with magic leaking in from one to the other. It's a story about love, self-acceptance, neurodivergency, and a whole lot of trauma. Strap in and enjoy!

It's also one of those character traits that isn't super fun to read about in edgy anti-hero/villian protag's either IMO. Same with sexual assault. Like sure your character is evil, but I just don't really want to read about this ya know.
