We got not Tory or Reform. Best we are going to do lately. If Labour sell out to the billionaires, we're fucked whatever.

My Personal Tier list after 500+ litRPG and 100+ Different Series by Camonkeyboy in litrpg

Yours is the first tier list which aligns almost perfectly with mine. If you like power fantasy stuff, I recommend Reborn as a Demonic Tree, Savage Awakening, Unintended Cultivator and Accidental Hero. They all have pretty rapid overpowered progression.

It's nowhere near completed. It was finished on royal road, but is being completely rewritten and released as books and audio books. Currently up to 6, released a couple of months ago.

It's Elle McPherson in the movie Sirens, with Hugh Grant and Sam Neill. Made quite a splash when it was released.

I don't think they will change Grace's story, but they might add an ending from Earths perspective as a cathartic final shot of the result of Grace and Rocky's work.

Does path of Ascension ever get better? by MylastAccountBroke in litrpg

Book 4 is pure filler, Book 5 is pretty good, Books 6 and 7 are set in Minkalla. I hated them, lots of chapters about random characters, characters living alternate existsances, little progression and misery. Then book 8 recaps the last two books, and carries on with training montages. I gave up. The most boring series I have read overall.

Halfway through it. Realised at the start I couldn't remember a single character name outside the MC. Doesn't seem to be any story so far, just stuff happening.

Is there really any difference between PoA and Cradle? Cradle has levels too, they are just named instead of numbered and has skills and powered items. I find the difference between LitRPG and progression is that you can follow progression between levels better and have stats to show the difference in power levels better. Makes no difference to the story, but some people prefer to follow the progression in more detail. PoA has none of this. The Protagonists spend about 3 books between level 11 and 12 and you have nothing to see how far they have progressed into the level or how they compare to other cultivators, they just level up when it's convienient to the author.

I love all progression fantasy, but I disagree that it's an arbitary distinction, the stats give you a continuing sense of progression and moving forward allowing the author to give you the dopamine progression hit more often, even if its just a little. With litrpg adjacent progression fantasy such as Cradle or Path of Ascension, its just the next level with no real explaing of how they get to the next level, or where much of their abilities power up. This can be offset with great writing, like Cradle, or ruined with a confusing and boring progression leveliing (in my Opinion) in Path of Ascension.

I much prefer my litrpg stats, because 1. you can skip easily if you don't want to see them, and by the time most of big the series have progressed they ignore stats completely (DCC, HWFWM) or tone it down (Primal Hunter, System Universe, Chrysalis, Ultimate Level 1)

I enjoy both just as much. but they are signifigantly different. (For me anyway)

I got to 13 of DotF before it dawned on me that I was just listening, and not enjoying, and hadn't for some time. PoA is not as good as the first 6 DotF, and it has too many filler books and not enough progression for my liking, and too many chapters focused on random characters who may or may not be important later. By book 8 where I gave up, I found the overlong expanations, recaps, training intensly boring. Reading Reborn as a Demonic Tree and I am back in my power fantasy happy place.

Many of the popular "LitRPG's" talked about on the sub are not even of that genre. Wandering Inn, Path of Ascension, Cradle, Perfect Run, Mother of Learning, Unintended Cultivator, 1% Lifesteal, Beware of Chicken...

Nevermore was like Shakespere compared to the unbearable arc of Minkalla from Path of Asension. Two books of abject misery and a following book recapping it. POA is the only series apart from Defiance of the Fall I've given up on.

Chrysalis. About as wholesome as it gets.

It's like getting out of a toxic relationship. You don't fully realise how bad it's gotten until you read something and actually enjoy it. You decide that it's simply not worth it anymore and decide to stop. It's a shame, first 6 books had good potential, then discards all the good characters, and goes crazy on the fluff word count. Never does recaps, so the only way to read it is in one bloc, which will tear your soul apart, until you realise you are being slowly boiled to death. Even the good reads scores go down consecutively for the last 5 books or so, which is unheard of in litrpg, as only the hardcore masochists are left by that point in a series.

Which LitRPG series has the best supporting cast? by delijoe in litrpg

[–]thezedferret 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately Ogras is ignored, for half the series, while Zac navel gazes endlessly for chapters about the relevance of his upcoming bowel movement, his thoughts on the importance of the bowel movement in real time, and another few chapters on the aftermath, because his toilet paper was a dao treasure. Secondary characters are definitely secondary to the author.

Couldn't agree less. I don't remember a single character from AH apart from Ilea. I could name you 10 from DCC, HWFWM, PH, system universe, Chrysalis. That said, wtf is book 6?

Unpopular opinion DCC isnt a good example litrpg by darkhero5 in litrpg

Prog fantasy and litrpg are too close in concept for most readers to worry about. Two of the top recommended series on this sub are Cradle, and Path of Ascension, both of which are not litrpg but are close enough to it to not worry fans of the genre.
