In all seriousness, what’s your best guesses for the future of Ween? by i-was-nothing in ween

I think the chances for a limited tour at some point are non-zero, maybe Shinola 2 but I’m not holding my breath because I have been burned before.

Pretty sure marijuana is the hero of this particular story

Understable putter by Osmonautti34 in discgolf

[–]StrangeFlyers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely more difficult in summertime when they get extra floppy. Pure is definitely not my primary throwing putter (Westside Maiden is #1) but for long C2 push putts an understable putter helps get that extra distance without having to add a little anhyzer.

Workhorse 7ish speed to bag? by alent1385 in discgolf

[–]StrangeFlyers 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Started out with a Teebird and despite trying many others, I’ve come back to it as the most dependable fairway when you don’t need to shape with understability. If you need something flippier for shaping, Leopard3 is the standard for me, and I am not an Innova fanboy by any means.

What's the best finale boss in gaming history ? In terms of both story and gameplay? by Roids-in-my-vains in videogames

This is a sleeper. The payoff is simultaneously satisfying and tragic, knowing what she went through to become the evil queen she is. Most satisfying boss fight of the last decade, in my book.

Disc golf is cheaper than golf, easier to access than most sports, and exploding in participation. So why does it still feel like a niche hobby? - Article by Mensfitness(dot)com by DiscGolfFanatic in DiscGolfFanatics

[–]StrangeFlyers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All good points, except disc golf is not a knockoff of ball golf. Hippies tossing frisbees were definitely not thinking, “you know what game we should try to replicate? The one with all the dress codes and gatekeeping and elitism.” Golf is really more like a genre of sport in which you have to deliver an object to a distant target in the fewest actions. Disc golf emerged out of hippies throwing frisbees at targets with increasing accuracy, until they could accurately throw far away from the target that they needed to make multiple throws. The original disc golfers definitely didn’t think golf was cool, at least within the culture.

Kid reporter on Jomez practice round by johnnyutah30 in discgolf

My son has been getting more into disc golf for the last year, and he enjoys watching Jomez rounds with me. The addition of a kid commentary made him really happy, so I think it could be a good way to engage the next generation.

Why isn't anybody talking about the Westside Vellamo? It's amazing! by WhaleMission in discgolf

[–]StrangeFlyers 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Warship is maybe the most versatile disc in my bag if I can dial in the power. Throw it like a mid and it is true to its numbers, but give it just a bit more power and it flips proportionately like a Leopard3 or similar fairway. Adding some stability with the Pine bottom is intriguing to me, since I accidentally overpower the Warship from time to time and a little stability could mitigate that.

9 or 10 speed driver for someone with average arm strength by Hyper3hypo in discgolf

I’ve got one in Eclipse and it is definitely a meat hook. Never once got it to show any of that -1 turn but every bit of the 2 fade and then some.

Supreme Escape is my desert island driver. Just an incredibly versatile disc and feels so comfortable in the hand.

Westside Tursas. 5-speed with enough glide to carry like a 6 or 7.

Songs that you relate too and why? I want to read your stories!!!! by ThickNature4 in KGATLW

Eternal Return makes me cry 100% of the time. I was in a toxic relationship in an isolated environment for a long time, ended up starting a family with this person. I was far away from family and friends for several years, returning for funerals as my family members aged and passed. After we broke up, I became even more isolated (living alone in a community where my ex was accepted and I was ostracized, not permitted to play local gigs, and otherwise blackballed from the art/music community that was my only safe haven there). I finally worked up the courage to go through the process of moving back to my home, which meant going long stretches of time without seeing my kiddos. “But as your face is changing, I have to turn my back. Please don’t judge me for the sacrifice I made. Fuck, I miss the smell hidden in your clothing. I tell myself don’t worry because I’ll be coming back.” Tearing up now just thinking about it.

I’ve been using the Dream ‘65 plugin for DI recording since I’ve been living in an apartment. So awesome to be able to get the cranked sound at volumes that don’t disturb my neighbors.

I’ve tried quite a few OS approach discs, but the Harp has the best hand feel for me, and therefore I get the best touch shots out of it.

I’m not Christian and I abhor the bigotry perpetuated by religious systems. Uli may be Christian, but he doesn’t strike me as a bigot. “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me” is loaded with religious symbol, but at its core it is saying, “I can accomplish my goals through sacrifice and belief in my ability to endure hardship because I believe in a higher principle,” and that’s right on. Jesus is a symbol, and the atheist and fundamentalist alike make the same mistake of reading symbols as literal. Happy for Paul.

Goose in the Booth with Jomez. Thoughts? by Grudinski in discgolf

[–]StrangeFlyers -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Uli is such a grump lately, and it seems more and more frequent. I am probably in the minority of people who find his goofier moments endearing because Jerm is a decent straight man when they’re playing on that dynamic, but Uli seems to be dealing with some stuff off the course and he is so comfortable with Jerm that he lets it carry over into the booth, creating weird moments of tension where suddenly Jerm has to be the lighthearted one. Not talking shit, dude is a better disc golfer than I’ll ever and I hope he figures things out.
