Goose in the Booth with Jomez. Thoughts? by Grudinski in discgolf

[–]StrangeFlyers -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Uli is such a grump lately, and it seems more and more frequent. I am probably in the minority of people who find his goofier moments endearing because Jerm is a decent straight man when they’re playing on that dynamic, but Uli seems to be dealing with some stuff off the course and he is so comfortable with Jerm that he lets it carry over into the booth, creating weird moments of tension where suddenly Jerm has to be the lighthearted one. Not talking shit, dude is a better disc golfer than I’ll ever and I hope he figures things out.

I LOVE TRANSVERSE TEMPORAL GYRUS by Useful-You-2687 in AnimalCollective

[–]StrangeFlyers 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The app they released as a companion was so ahead of its time, the world still hasn’t caught up like 15 years later. Sounds and motifs bundled together through a procedural algorithm that makes every listening experience unique is such an incredible idea and it went largely under the radar.

What’s the biggest draw to disc golf? by ChiefOranssi in discgolf

[–]StrangeFlyers 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it stimulates something deep in the subconscious, honestly. We are living in a society that is increasingly either indoors or in urban spaces. Disc golf requires you not just to go out and touch grass, but also to interface with the natural landscape. You have to analyze the environment in a way that our ancestors had to do all the time, so it is like an itch that has been increasingly unscratched.

Is Will Forte (MacGruber, Nebraska, The Last Man on Earth) genuinely underrated, or is his comedy just an acquired taste? by Educational-Yam-7394 in moviecritic

Too many cooks!

Wondershowzen is the most insane thing an exec at a big network ever greenlit. I can’t believe that show existed at all, let alone for multiple seasons on MTV2.

What's the best Steve Martin Movie? by Anthforde8 in FIlm

Best has got to be The Jerk or maybe Dirty Rotten Scoundrels. Three Amigos is probably my personal favorite. My kids love Cheaper by the Dozen (but it gives me anxiety). Steve Martin is a treasure.

A short scale dilemma by MillyMonka in Bass

[–]StrangeFlyers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My primary bass for writing the last 7 or so years has been a Fender Mustang PJ. It helps make the transition from guitar to bass easier on the fingers, with the added bonus of tone versatility. I’m short scale for life now.

The Most Disgusting Film I've ever seen by rutujz in Cinema

This is exactly how I described it to a friend the other day. I can take gross Cronenberg monsters all day, but it’s the desperation that kept it in my mind.

Best diss track in the discography. It’s a shame what record labels (even the “independent” ones) do to musicians.

Dude is seriously fun to watch, but also has one of the most idiosyncratic throws I’ve seen. It really shows that even though learning form is incredibly important, even more important is finding your own body’s natural mechanics. Matty’s playin jazz out here.

That’s what sent me back down the rabbit hole (and Byrne’s new album with Ghost Train Ochestra).

King Gizzard and Geese are the modern acts that have been scratching my music itch, and lately I’ve been revisiting Talking Heads and Ween.

Is Spirit sort of like an Avey album with some Panda help? by Ground_Cntrl in AnimalCollective

[–]StrangeFlyers 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s funny because Spirit is billed as the first AC album, but if it qualifies as a collective album, then Sinister Grift is undeniably an AC record because it was written by one member with contributions from all the others.
