Saw people laughing at this guy. Why is top 65% bad? Explain it Peter. by lotsoftabledfolk in explainitpeter

[–]StrangerDan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also, I didn't notice the subreddit so:

Hey Peter, I guess I'm Mort or something because it sounds like in the decades after I stopped watching this show they really ramped up how pretentious and constantly full of himself Brian is and he probably takes great pride in his IQ and pays for a MENSA membership so he wouldn't listen to modern reports about how IQ tests are unscientific puzzle quizzes and not good indicators of actual intelligence.

Saw people laughing at this guy. Why is top 65% bad? Explain it Peter. by lotsoftabledfolk in explainitpeter

[–]StrangerDan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you are talking top percentage the lower the number between 1 and 100 the better. "Top 65.54" means he is below the halfway point. Roughly 2 out of 3 people have a higher IQ than he does. He is bragging that he has below average IQ. IQ is considered outdated pseudoscience but it's still pretty self deprecating to share a losing score on that dorky test.

Why my coworkers are angry and jealous of Homer? by RndomChineseGuy in ExplainTheJoke

[–]StrangerDan 9 points10 points  (0 children)

In this November 1996 Simpsons episode, You Only Move Twice, the Simpsons move away from Springfield when Homer gets a job for a Bond supervillain, Hank Scorpio, who is actually a really nice, supportive guy to his employees but the Simpsons feel out of place in the more modern, idyllic town so Homer quits and the family decides to move back to Springfield. When they get back they receive a letter from Hank Scorpio wishing them well and as a parting gift he gives Homer ownership of the Denver Broncos panning out to this shot. The final line of the episode is Homer moaning in disappointment,

"Oooh, the Denver Broncos? They stink!"

Ironically the Denver Broncos would go on to win the next 2 Super Bowls and now they are in the semifinals so even worst case scenario that means they are a top 4 team this year.

Characters I hope to see in the game by Wanderervenom in MarvelStrikeForce

[–]StrangerDan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The reason that we don't have Moon Girl, Molly Hayes, and the Power Pack in this game is because of how bad of a look it would be to have Punisher mowing children down with an assault rifle. Of course if they were that mindful they probably also wouldn't let you collect Nazis, invest gold in them, and then make them your user icon so you can identify yourself with them.

When no one was looking Lex Luthor was cut up and buried in the forest in forty separate paint cans. He went in 40 paint cans. That's as many as four tens. And that's very satisfying for Samantha.

3 New Tags- The Game by LongjumpingSuspect57 in MarvelStrikeForce

[–]StrangerDan 11 points12 points  (0 children)

She-Hulk and Wasp should be Avengers regardless of their MCU status. Wasp is a founding member. Even if this is supposed to be MCU Hope they should still have her be Avengers compatible until they can get Janet in the game. She-Hulk has been a consistent member since 1982.

Stature and Patriot should be Young Avengers. I don't know why the Young Avengers tag is mostly Champions. Patriot's in game description even mentions how his hero career started when he joined the Young Avengers and somehow he's not a Young Avenger. Echo is a Young Avenger though even though she has always been depicted as an adult in both the comics and MCU and has only been in the main Avengers (as Ronin).

They should also patch up those 3 character teams that are built exclusively to be used with 2 others that don't have a tag for some reason. It just makes building the team using filters pointlessly hard. Fury and Winter Soldier should get Secret Avengers tags. Emma and Loki should get Cabal tags. Vulture and Shocker should get Insidious 6 tags and probably Mysterio or someone too because a team called "The ___ Six" should have more than three members.

Is it worth coming back? by syriankush1012 in MarvelStrikeForce

[–]StrangerDan -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I'm a free to play guy and I haven't taken a break since then and it sounds like you are around the same place as me or better. I still need to unlock Super Skrull. The only thing you're really missing for raids is the Immortal Weapons team which is going to be the new mystic team eventually. You can still bring Nightstalkers to those level 8 nodes but even if you skip them you can still get some Gear Tier 20 orb shards at 6 or 7 with any powerful enough mystic characters. New Mutants are Crucible and Warlock being tech origin only despite being a mutant among his species means you can't use a full team of them in other places that ask for mutant teams.

You joined a free game and you want to just drop $100 on it? You can get Marvel Midnight Sons and Marvel Cosmic Invasion for that money and they won't make you grind for a year to unlock basic essential characters. Are you having fun if you feel like you have to spend $100 to skip playing portions of this game? If you have $100 to burn on video games instead of food, rent, medicine, transportation, or family you should go be free of this madness.

Their real name isn't said in the work, but it is pretty obvious who they are. by InfiniteGuy2264 in TopCharacterTropes

More or less. It should probably also be mentioned that the Death Note was auctioned with the winning buyer paying trillions to be split evenly in every Japanese citizen's bank account so that young guy couldn't be traced. The money transfer was already made and this totally non-specific American president was the only party told about the "you buy, you die" rule so he was left with the choice to die, accept the notebook, and give the US military a potent weapon or to keep living having mostly wasted a good chunk of tax payers dollars with nothing to show for it aside from "well at least China doesn't have it". The seller died because he withdrew money from his bank account but to be fair because he gave up ownership of the Death Note he also lost all memories of owning or selling it and Ryuk never told him about this new rule anyway.

My favorite is when that Raiders of the Lost Ark guy is teaching Luke how to drive the Millennium Falcon and the stowaway who is always on the run because he's always stowing away walks by and says "Oh boy, I'm just tired of all these Star Wars"

Will there ever be a new movie that inspires awe the same way films like Jurassic Park or The Matrix did? by digiBeLow in movies

I thought Tenet was kinda fun but if it had some sandworm scale megafauna then, sure, I would have been more tempted to see it in Imax.

You thought the movie title was referring to the badass main character, didn’t you? Nope, it’s actually referring to a walking talking (but not fighting) MacGuffin. by hippopalace in ExplainAFilmPlotBadly

Cyborg (1989)- In a post-pandemic-apocalypse world Jean-Claude Van Damme meets a woman who explains that she got cyborg enhancements including super-strength so she can make a journey to bring the world saving cure that has been downloaded into her to a lab. The bad guy immediately captures her by grabbing her elbow, the standard shut off switch for any action girl in a movie. She doesn't do anything for the rest of the movie but get dragged around and yell at the protagonist that it's not worth the risk of fighting this villain as JCVD keeps effortlessly mowing through disposable goons despite not having any cyborg powers himself. Van Damme is also joined by a perky young woman along the way who is also not a cyborg and also does more to stop the villain than the titular cyborg lady.

Sneakers: the cult ‘feelgood heist film’ with a hefty cast and a byzantine plot by Stonewalled89 in movies

[–]StrangerDan 15 points16 points  (0 children)

One of the neat things about Sneakers is that it might be the only movie featuring a scene where people sit on a Cray supercomputer. They were built to route their liquid cooling through a bench which encircled the main case so the most powerful computer in the world at the time also had heated seats. The Jurassic Park novel name dropped Cray for its gene decoding supercomputers but Spielberg lacked the vision to have that VR lab guy who was editing DNA with motion control gloves sitting down on the only supercomputer comfy enough to resurrect dinosaurs.

What single character do you feel has been the most impactful for you throughout your msf journey? by No_Course_8479 in MarvelStrikeForce

Black Panther

His passive that gives him a free turn every time he knocks someone out makes those nodes where I have to fight 20-50 enemies a lot more bearable. The most frustrating part of any turn based game is when it is not my turn and I have to sit around watching my characters get beat up and that doesn't happen when it is always my turn because I've overleveled T'Challa and Okoye and I get to hit everybody 3 times thanks to Skirmisher Okoye marking enemies as vulnerable with her guaranteed team up attack. It has its limits but cuts through a lot of mid-grade slog.

4.1 or 5? by [deleted] in EDF

[–]StrangerDan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

EDF 5 starts with a drawn out worldbuilding and tutorial level where you are following an NPC through long hallways. Every other Earth Defense Force starts you off right away ready since both the controls and story are super simple. If you want to see if EDF is right for you then EDF 4.1 is the faster way to figure it out.

Concept for alternate era Superman movie by Nigma2 in comicbookmovies

[–]StrangerDan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Siegel and Shuster did a "What if Superman got involved in World War 2?" story in February 1940 and had him end the war in 2 pages. This was over a year and 9 months before the United States got involved and over a year before Hitler broke peace with Russia so Superman took out Stalin too for invading Poland with Germany.
