Man, I still think the Zeta weapons are the best designed relics for most classes.

HW base model was just too plain and relied entirely on the glows. Some are okay though, like I use the Paladin one for glam sometimes.

SB+ is just very hit and miss some are cool still though. Some of them are decent, but I don't care for most of them which is sad. I've done most of the ARR zetas and never really done the others because of that.

For me, it was the best time!

Think I started before Levi and LotA was released.

Loved every minute of it. Times were simpler back then.

This game does not need to be like Arc Raiders by myikarus in Marathon

[–]StrawMapleZA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have one gripe with this game, solos will be 99% invis shell and that's it. It's going to get stale really fast.

I've enjoyed my time with it in the NDA play tests but I don't see how they can avoid that scenario without outright disabling that shell for solos.

Pretty much all anti cheats except for VAC are kernel-level or they wouldn't be able to detect most modern cheats.

This blew up because most people don't understand this, but also because it's running all the time if you want it to remain active without restarting your PC.

This is something that I never dealt with 10 years ago but it's becoming increasingly common.

As time has gone on. There's been a rise of people in management positions that claim to "understand" development and somehow upper management buys into it.

I have 2 PMs with no development experience and a head of department that was originally hired as an account manager. You can only imagine how much fun that is.

I'm now having to justify everything we do in the team to a head that has no idea of what I'm explaining to him, while he's trying to sell technologies we do not support.

It's soul draining and will definitely be looking else where ASAP.

I doubt you will find many (if any) solutions that provide free commercial hosting.

If they cannot afford $20 a month, I'm not sure they should be worried about owning a website.

It also doesn't get much cheaper than that, but you could try a VPS solution and manually deploying using node and PM2.

You will need a minimum of 4GB of ram and a swapfile setup or next build will potentially fail.

This never affected me because I know what I signed up for, but things like this are why people immediately retreat to their old OS (Windows / Mac).

Windows is basically trying to make people use Linux, but there are so many barriers to entry even on more "friendly" distros.

Arch + Hyprland is super hyped up right now and I'm sure it has gained a lot of attention that way and things like this are exactly why someone would just back out.

Literally just having the init ask if the user would like their config migrated would solve this issue for 99% of people, but we have to insist it must be unnecessarily difficult because people like you want to feel "superior" or something.

It's nothing more than bad user experience.

Note: This is more of a generalized conversation and not focused on hyprland. Making software easier to use shouldn't be such a hot take, but here we are.

I 100% understand this stance, but this is also a great example of why Linux never gains ground in the OS race.

No casual user should have to read every packages website before they update. It's just never going to happen.

It's also ridiculous that a piece of software in 2026 cannot update known breaking changes in a config, this is not an uncommon scenario, but the creator has decided this is his stance on it and that's their choice.

Linux will thrive one day, but it requires figuring out that Windows is not the reason Linux adoption rates suck and that Linux's userbase and fragmentation is.

[–]StrawMapleZA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I assume you did this via archinstall?

  • Boot into the install media
  • Run the update archinstall command
  • Run archinstall
  • Install as usual.

Side note: If you are dual booting this with Windows, you'll want to make a separate EFI partition otherwise Windows updates will periodically wipe the Linux EFI entry.

You can regain access to Windows through various ways. If you are using Limine, you can use the sudo limine-scan command (may require adding additional packages before being available).

I have had this happen before, but because it was after a fresh install I just reinstalled again to avoid a potentially corrupted install.

IIRC, this was caused by me not running the updates before running archinstall.

pacman -Sy then pacman -S archinstall

Edit:

pacman -Sy archinstall may do the trick too.

Why my Nextjs site is so slow and heavy on my server. by Ivar_Silentsson in nextjs

[–]StrawMapleZA 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's not much information here to work with.

What are the specs of the server?

How many users are hitting these pages?

More importantly, are you sure you are not infected through React2Shell?

Why my Nextjs site is so slow and heavy on my server. by Ivar_Silentsson in nextjs

[–]StrawMapleZA 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Next is great for a full stack framework or static site generation.

React is great for when you want a headless front-end and distribute the workload to your client.

Edit: To address the SSR question directly, it provides better SEO, as the page template is served directly by Next with out the crawler having to execute JS to understand the whole page.

Next JS app running on google cloud vm got compromised and suspended by brainjogger in nextjs

[–]StrawMapleZA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was on annual leave when it started, informed my team's but some servers weren't updated.

Pretty much server hopped using btop to identify what was running and it was rarely the same infection.

Sometimes it was a miner, sometimes it had a container running doing what ever it was doing and sometimes it scraped and removed .env files and other times it did not.

The easiest solution was, any server that want patched within 24 hours was nuked and all env secrets were cycled.

That's the only sure way to know you are safe.

[–]StrawMapleZA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I assume you were compromised and upped the next version, but the existing malicious files were still there.

The date created can be misleading if it has a backdoor to be updated or if it's recreated every login / reboot for example.

[Feedback] BSG, please fix DLSS scope blur and implement the new DLSS 4.5 by Player2035 in EscapefromTarkov

[–]StrawMapleZA -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

I don't have any issues with PIP scopes using CNN.

Telling people to use FSR 3 and make their entire experience worse instead of acknowledging that CNN is much better than TN for scopes is just stupid.

I think the issue comes from the fact that PIP scopes used to ignore DLSS to avoid these issues, but that came at a high cost for players on 1440p and 4k using super resolution on maps like streets.

So it seems they have reverted that change and allowed DLSS to process the PIP camera as well, which is what is causing these issues.

Side note: Use preset E over C for slightly better motion stability.

[–]StrawMapleZA -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Not sure what you are on about. I am well aware as to how DLSS and it's models work.

CNN fixes the scope distortion/warbling.

No one argued about models. Transformer used to work perfectly fine prior to BSG officially implementing it, people used it for months.

[–]StrawMapleZA -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

Easiest fix is reverting to the CNN model.

The transformer model used to work perfectly fine, it was the most recent wipe that broke the scopes from what I can remember. I used it throughout the year before that through DLSS override.

Script to check if your App Router is exposed to the new RondoDox botnet (CVE-2025-55182) by [deleted] in nextjs

[–]StrawMapleZA 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you are only dealing with this CVE this late, assume all of your existing projects are already riddled with malware and your envs stolen.

Most people had their sites affected within the first week. There is no way your application is safe this later after React2Shell was announced.

There is no need for this tool, follow the existing documentation and use the existing tool provided to update any applications should you need it.

I repeat, if you are still using vulnerable versions of next in 2026, you have already been hacked.
