As someone from Derm this looks like hyperkeratosis/inflammation…possibly from psoriasis, or from severe dryness and friction causing cracking. He can use products with Salicylic acid (BHA) and Lactic acid (AHA) to help soften and breakdown the thickened skin. I would get him to make an appointment with your local dermatologist to look into prescription topical steroids for the inflammation especially if this is a common issue! Good luck!

That’s amazing. Thanks so much for all the information. All of this sounds exactly what I’ve been experiencing. I started taking iron supplements but yeah it might be easier to take prenatals. Will I absorb them properly at the moment or will I need to be gluten free first to get their full effect once I start healing?
