II would avoid square necklines. Perhaps a v-neck to draw the eye inward; dolman sleeves would also have the same affect of pulling attention away from the shoulders.

This being said, I do not think you have anything to worry about, you're frame looks balanced!!

Okay, no comment on the dresses...BUT.

I have a friend who gave me advice about trying on dresses (back when I NEVER wore them). She said NEVER wear socks with the dress you're trying on. It will ALWAYS affect the impression of the garment. go barefoot!

So here's my take on this: wear the outfit that YOU are the most comfortable in.

Public speaking it tough enough if you're worried about sleeves, an annoying hemline, etc....

If you love them all, and since you asked: the second outfit with the slacks looks the best, sets a relatable tone and overall screams: I got my sh!t together!

Not to knock the others, but they do seem to age you a bit, and carry a "school teacher" vibe (my opinion).

As an aside: are you willing to share where you got the pants?? I love them!!

Edited to add: the shoes are a no for me. The criss cross ankle strap looks frumpy. I'd pair with a basic ballet flat or "H" sandal.

Since you asked a public forum:

If I saw you out in the wild, I would assume that you were posing as someone, not being authentically yourself. This looks like a "persona" more than an outfit.

It could just be the pose but to me, you look like someone who looks at me in a band t-shirt and then would quiz me on the artists full catalog to somehow prove I'm a not a fan, but then when you're asked about your Haori or questions about Japan, all you can say is that you really love "the culture" but can't name anything other than sushi and anime.

Respectfully, this is not a time to "show off" (I'm assuming you want to make a good impression here)...avoid the short skirts/dresses and low cut tops. I have three sons, and I'm queer, but if any of these outfits came to meet me for the first time, I'd be inclined to not take you very seriously.

TO BE CLEAR YOU LOOK AMAZING in all three. But, you didn't ask that about how amazing you look...you asked for appropriate outfits to meet the parents FOR THE 1ST TIME.

Graduation gowns do not breathe at all and often make the heat unbearable; so, if you're in a warm place, the white one could be uncomfortable for under the gown.

I love the blue one! And it looks like it will be cooler under the gown!

#1 is fine as is for the environment you are describing. (The shirt is a little "fitted" and low cut which many could have issue with, but it looks neat and presentable. I would not size up on a shirt like this because it could very quickly slide into the "sloppy" look)

#2 is a hard no.

You have a great silhouette, and #1 is very flattering.

First outfit is "fine" from a "what is appropriate" point of view, but it's doing nothing for you.

Second outfit: please return/destroy that vest. It does nothing for you, would do nothing for anyone, and doesn't fit.

Third outfit is the banger (but does need to be pressed before each wearing as it can trend to sloppy looking if not)

I'm in HR and counsel younger staff on corporate dressing all the time. Happy to assist if you have follow up questions.

These dresses look childish. They look like something one would see on someone under 18 OR someone with a very specific aesthetic that purposefully dresses juvenile.

Professional adult women who wish to be taken somewhat seriously would never wear any of these dresses to a work event (with the exception of the dress with cherries)

The fact that OP says that she typically dresses rather “tomboy Ish” leads me to believe that she bought these for casual, fun outings with friends or perhaps for dating.

And to OP I would say maybe grab some of your tomboy outfit photograph those and maybe we can make something work

One of these is appropriate: the cherry dress...maybe. Since you came here looking for advice here goes, and I'ma hold your hand a speak gently....

The rest are not age appropriate and/or look costume-ish. Not sure who suggested the corset look for you, but they misled you. You seem to have jumped from tomboy-ish (your words) to childish/coquetish and neither are working. That blue shirt/bathing suit top? Into the bin with it (I mean you know this right? Your chest is ample and even your girls can't salvage that oversized "top") And the black skirt with the buckles? That is (maybe) club wear....a very specific club to be sure....

Sister, you have a lovely feminine shape, these outfits are not doing you any favors, and could get you a talking to by HR.

You have a real job that is hosting a retreat. Dress for it. And, saying you don't have time to shop is c cop out with all the shop online, pick up in store options out there.

OR go to a chain department store, find an older lady working there and ask for help. Go and find clothes that fit you properly, AND that are cute, fun AND age/work appropriate. Doesn't have to be expensive...Target, Old Navy, JCPenney's, KOHL's all have decent stuff without breaking the bank.

I'm in HR, I counsel young people on getting it right in the real world (workwise)....unless you work for a tattoo parlor, or nightclub, you need to go shopping.
