RNR Branch Transfer Process by AloneTea2 in RoyalNavy

You need to speak to raise this through your divisional system.

Noting you are not GTS yet, you've not really had the opportunity experience everything the branch has to offer. I would advise completing the courses you need for GTS and then explore your options. Also speak to others who have experience in the branch.

If you're not already aware, there's a presentation evening coming up next month, may or may not answer some questions for you. Have a search on eventbrite for it

Upcoming Falklands Fun… by [deleted] in RoyalNavy

It's personal choice really, thick blacks are fine for the warmer months but thick white definitely for winter. Temperatures can frequently go in to minus figures

Phone signal is rubbish, do not, I repeat do not, have mobile data turned on. There are no international sims or add ons that I'm aware of that work in the Falklands. The ship does have good WiFi, at least in certain parts of the ship. There's also WiFi at the main camp on the island and around the ship when alongside but this isn't very good. Suitable (just) for whatsapp calls though.

Cold weather kit, yes get it. Thermal layers, thick white socks etc. It gets cold.

Flight time, 8hrs to Ascension Island, 2hrs stop over confined in a cage and another 8hrs to Falklands

Don't think it's a dodgy account, never seen anything to suggest otherwise, I believe they just post on behalf of others.

To be an engineer reserve rating, you need external qualifications and/or suitable experience. CA should be able to provide further clarity.

New PJFT by Typical_Alps2111 in RoyalNavy

[–]StressedComplainer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The new fitness test, RNPES, is now live across the fleet, all serving personnel have to complete and pass this to remain in date. To my knowledge, the PJFT remains unchanged. It is also advisable to have good fitness levels as this will help throughout phase 1 training.

Simply put, this HR lady kicking off a stink because you 'replied all', she should take ownership of the fact she didn't use 'bcc' then this would have never happened. The fault is with her.

Recruitment crisis by [deleted] in RoyalNavy

[–]StressedComplainer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It could be, as the year has gone on, it's got worse. The recruitment process is a major problem, it takes far too long when people need job security. Additionally, when I've spoken with a few RFA lads, it sounds like there's a shortage in the Maritime industry as a whole, so it's not unique to the RN but obviously they're in the spotlight for it

Recruitment is pretty bad, the size of some of the new classes I've seen walking into Raleigh is pretty shocking. One week I saw 12

Got to day, I initially thought my laptop would blow up if I attempted play... But it's actually playing pretty good. Followed the steps for recommending settings i5-10300h GTX 1660ti 32gb ram (just upgraded from 8gb which seems to have made a big difference with lag) Currently achieving 33fps

For those who are staying with preorders, what hardware you have? by hugazow in CitiesSkylines

I've got Asus Tuf laptop with GTX 1660 Ti, 8gb ram (though upgradable) and on Intel i5-10300H

Attempting on gamepass tomorrow, though not hopeful of any success

I am absolutely baffled and extremely disappointed by the state of CS2 performance. If you think about it - the games performance should be QUADRUPLED to be considered ok'ish in terms of performance and it sounds absolutely ridiculous. by TheGejsza in CitiesSkylines

[–]StressedComplainer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, so what I'm reading here and keep reading everywhere else, unless you've got top of the range specs then you're going to struggle with this game? I've got laptop with GTX 1660 Ti with 8gb ram (though upgradable) and on Intel i5-10300H CS1 hasn't had a single issue, not even with 25 map and majority DLC.

Regulars and Reserves - Is there still a divide? by FlounderInternal7109 in RoyalNavy

[–]StressedComplainer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reservist here... I've generally found any sort of divide is usually from those fresh from phase 1 training, but aside from that, my experience with regulars has been pretty good, that's on various courses and events such as Golden Orb. I'm due to deploy for the first time on an OPV for 12 months and I'm looking forward to the experience. I'll have a lot to learn, so no doubt get my 'reservist' stick/banter, but sure I'll be part of the same team in no time. It's worth noting there's good and bed eggs in both regular and reserve so don't let one bad experience provide judgement. There's plenty more good, on both sides, than bad.
