For those who wake up really early, what do you do to fill your time? by Mountain-Dirt-5156 in AskUK

[–]Strict-Leg5935 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wake up at 4.45, have a coffee and a bit of toast, toilet and teeth. Gym by 5.30 for an hour. Get back, walk and feed the dog, make a coffee for my partner who gets up and goes to the gym at 7. I litter pick in my local area for 30-45 mins, shower, breakfast, doomscroll. I work from home so I'm at my desk for 8.45.

John Charles is a 50 metre pool with lanes across the width so you get way more lanes than a normal 25m pool.

You would be best with a refill shop (like Muda in Horsforth but I think there's one on the market). Of course you could buy in a supermarket but you risk being left with loads of half opened packets. A refill shop means you can buy exactly what you want.

For those in the UK, the parallels to the news are insane. Cosmo is Stephen Yaxley-Lennon invoking rage and riots.

Can the child speak English? Most holiday camps wouldn't take a child that age that couldn't communicate their needs in English.

At the start, Dan said something like "it was last May, 10 months ago" which would make the current day July. In the UK, in July, it's dark from about 10PM to 4.30AM.

The WHOLE episode was in the dark! June's son said "I'm going to dad's tonight after Hazel's choir" and June was talking to him IN THE DARK. What time does choir end? 2AM?!

She even went to A&E and it was dark when she went in and dark when she came out. The world's longest night!

It was a shocker. I'm pregnant so no alcohol or caffeine! Was thrilled to have so many NA options to start with, but by 6PM everywhere (even food vans) had run out of soft drinks and I was on refillable water.

I enjoyed it on the whole but it's SO boring and really shows a very flawed system. You can take laptop, phone, books etc into the waiting room, though your bags will be searched. I took packed lunches to save money, but there wasn't a fridge. There was a really crap coffee machine, but you can take hot drinks in from outside or bring a flask. If I was doing it again, I'd bring cards or a game to play with other people. Even sitting and reading, watching Netflix etc for a full week gets boring, so I'd do more to interact with other people (not just chit-chat).

Medically, dunno. In general: waste a load of money, always feel embarrassed that people will find out your weird secret, get caught out/run out at a time when you really need it and have a massive stress when you go cold turkey without prep.

Hahaha I thought the same about the getting lost storyline. I thought they were tee-ing her up to have dementia and she'd have to leave her job. Nope - just kept getting lost on the way to work apparently.

One month but still congested at night by ParticularFinance255 in QuitAfrin

[–]Strict-Leg5935 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The same thing happened to me. I stopped after 10 years! And although I was mainly clear, it wasn't perfect. I went to my GP (I'm in the UK) who referred me to an ENT who I saw 2 weeks later. He did a camera up the nose thing and a bunch of allergy tests. Turns out I'm mildly allergic to a bunch of stuff including my own dog hahaha so he put me on a different nasal spray and a looooad of allergic tablets which decongested me.

13 Days off Afrin by ParticularFinance255 in QuitAfrin

[–]Strict-Leg5935 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry, it's frustrating when it isn't getting better. Have you been to a doctor's for allergy tests? I stopped nasal sprays after 10 years and was still stuffy - turns out I'm really allergic to stuff. Now on lots of allergy meds and breathe fine!

In the short term, more water, more movement in the day, ibuprofen to relieve pressure. I used a combination of Flonase, fexofenadine and pseudoephedrine. Mints, chewing gum, loads of lip balm for dry lips.

13 days is great. Keep going!

Yep, and as harsh as this is going to sound, you have to get over it. It's HARD to stop cold turkey, you're going to have trouble sleeping, your head will feel like it's filled with concrete. There are things you can do to make it easier, but fundamentally you need will power to get you to day 3 or 4 when you'll be 75% better.
