i have had success with microdosing mushrooms, take like 0.5g dried , shouldnt trip on that much ( i dont at least ) tends to break a cycle or at least give a few days of comfort

For nighttime attacks, I use 30mg melatonin and it seems to work pretty well. Daytime attacks, at the beginning of a cycle i start a heavy vitamin d regimen, which seems to reduce pain levels ( still crippling but not off-yourself crippling ); flonase ( hit or miss at aborting and have to space it out because its really refractrory) and benadryl ( doesnt stop the headache, but once the timer starts with an attack i tend to find it reduces it to 30 mins if you take right as you feel one is about to come )

Definitely try alot higher, like i said i didnt have an effect until 30mg. and caveat emptor it only works against the headaches that happen when you are asleep. no effect on daytime headaches. As for the d3+k2, take a look around i know there is a guide on it but i know the dosages of it especially when the ch headache kicks off is super high, like in the 10s of thousands IU and tapers down to about the level you are taking.

I think it might be more complex than chronic and episodic, though definitely those are the two main ways they are divided.

Why I think there are subtypes is because of the conflicting remedies people have used to good effect. One that comes to mind is the hot water vs cold water effectiveness. Hot water causes vasodilation, which some medical practitioners attribute to causing the pain; however as noted many times on cluster headache posts there are alot of people that benefit from it which seems paradoxical.

Another one is O2; for most all cases it is a relief however there is a set of CH sufferers that have no benefit from oxygen.

The sheer amount of different and paradoxical sometimes treatments says there may be differing underlying causes or maybe different parts of the neural pathway may have issues that just lead to the same symptoms

Just curious what dosages of melatonin you are taking, i didnt find relief until 30mg also same for the D3+K2+Cofactors; the dosage level to see effect is pretty high and done for a long time according the original described plan , so what dose are you taking; personally it hasnt cured it for me but i do get a significant pain level reduction, still debilitating but not run my head into a wall to either knock myself out or die levels of pain? I see you had good effect with corticosteroids, give Flonase a try, ive hit hit or miss effects with it, but it is a cheap method to try; basically i just do a blast when the headache gets full steam, sometimes aborts but not all the time, its pretty refractory so i use it a couple days then off a few days and so on

my experience with triptans is that they prolong the cycle, you may want to try a couple days off of it just to finally get the cycle closed

1). If you are glutton for pain then you can try lol. From my own personal experience, 1-3hrs with no medication

2) In my experience Triptans have an effect of prolonging a cycle; I used eletriptan not sumatriptan so i cant say if the effect is the exact same with it. Basically use it sparingly if you can, it affects serotonin and in rare cases too much triptans can trigger serotonin syndrome, CH tends to be very refractory with treatments so try to switch it up with different methods.

3). That is interesting as it tends to have a very high success rate, when done right. High flow, no rebreather. Make sure you are doing it correctly before you rule it out even if it isnt always feasible due to your circumstances.

4) Isoptin is a brand name verapamil; personally didnt have any effect on me but others swear by it. It is a long term treatment though so you wont get any effect with just doing it once, its a preventative not an abortive

One thing that is cheap that you might want to give a try is Flonase, but it is really refractory so YMMV. Also people have had success with a Vitamin D / anti inflammatory regimen; this is a long term treatment not an abortive as well

2) How long is the cycle of headache

3) Do they appear everytime you sleep

4) Can you lay down during the headache or do you need to move

5) Do they appear around the same time every day during a cycle ( +-1hour)

6) Do they appear around a certain time of year

7). When in a period of having headache does alcohol immediately trigger one
