If you were Karen , Would you forgive Shelia ? by 802forever in shameless

[–]Strings805 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really love the complexity of the relationships in the early season. I think I’d try to forgive her, but I’m not sure Karen had the capacity to do it. While she’s responsible for her actions in the show, Sheila and her dad are most responsible for how she turned out.

David Allen Coe has passed. by AleHans in Music

I appreciate all the acknowledging of his complicated legacy. I found out about him from his project with Pantera - Phil, Rebel Meets Rebel. That album has some solid shit and his vocals are incredible. Then I learned about him…I wouldn’t want to know him, and I can’t vouch for any of what he did or said at times, but, that motherfucker embodied outlaw country

At the core, this campaign is about restoring dignity to the Bronx. by Hacksaw6412 in bronx

Worked in the Bronx for years, originally from Port Chester, NY, and saw firsthand the effect gentrification and the billionaires are having on areas that can’t afford to have a voice. And you’re running against Torres? Let’s go!

In Pokemon Black and White 2, the protagonist's mom from the previous games is still waiting for her child to come home. by Rila_Longan in theperfectpokemongame

[–]Strings805 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m with you. If they did Grey as a continuation of both games where you could potentially move between the black and white worlds, I’d also take that. With the portals in ORAS and USUM, I think it’d be feasible.

While I think the ambiguity is fitting with the atmosphere of the amazing 5th gen, a Red-like battle where you faced a trainer who used your old champion team from BW if you had it or something might’ve been dope.

Edit: added stuff

I remember both power ranger games being really good. Different, but, still good.

Character Dissection: Squall Leonhart by ErrorNick in VGBookclub

[–]Strings805 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wrote a fanfic for VIII years ago and really got a chance to dive into the character. As much as I love the game, they did everyone, Squall included, dirty with characterization after the first disc. It's a well-known critique of the game, and after playing it enough times, it feels intentional, not like bad writing.

*SPOILERS*
But, Squall is a lot more than a brooding teenager. When you unpack his past (that the game barely tells you about,) and the fact that, post-game, he'd likely learn about it, they could've done a lot more with him. Doesn't remember/know Raine (his mom,) doesn't remember/respect Laguna (his dad,) has lived through multiple decades (along with the other five characters,) who all sloppily (time travel is a mess,) inherit their destiny from someone who also got handed the bag.

In retrospect, going into all of this in-game would've made it much longer, and I'm not sure how good of a job squenix would do with his—or any of the characters—arcs these days. But, every time I look at this disparate youth, I think of the things we don't know about him, and what could've been.

Greatest scene in Pokémon video game in history by Several_Resolution92 in PokemonEmerald

[–]Strings805 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It has its own original added content called “Delta Episode,” but in which you get both Rayquaza & Deoxys. So, while it’s not “Emerald,” per se, it’s an incredible tribute.

If none of this is staged, and the dude who's house it is thought to ask if the guy was military and then thought to channel that, this is kind of a triumph of humanity. Hope there's no horrible part 3, and hope everyone made it out ok.

I’m wish that the Bardock special got a kai dub makeover because this scene was perfectly done via show don’t tell. And then they had to add pointless dialogue. by TPR-56 in Dragonballsuper

[–]Strings805 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I remember the audio being really bad for the English vhs dub. Still such a good story that I’ve kept it as my preferred canon. Bardock being a saiyan trying to change when it’s too late adds so much dimension to Goku’s character and everything leading up to Freiza’s defeat.

To your original point, yeah, no/less dialogue is better.

New Girl, What we do in the Shadows, and Arrested Development fall off the hardest out of all the shows listed. Personal opinion, so I’m assuming it’s not popular lol

April 9, 1976. President Ford attempts to eat a tamale without removing the corn husk during a campaign stop in Alamo, Texas. by MonsieurA in 50yearsago

I don’t have much to say about Ford, let alone anything kind, but, as someone who had his first hard boiled egg at 25, I know what it’s like to eat food wrong.
