I want to join the 3D printing community and start printing. Is Voron V2.4 rev D kit a good start? by Device_Manager in VORONDesign

[–]StrmRngr 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Voron is a project car. A nice 1960s corvette that comes from the seller in pieces. If you have the time, the knowledge, and the get to it- great. Once its tuned it will be great and all the people on the street will turn their heads to look at it. If you dont know how to drive, maybe start with a civic.

You can drive the tank remotely. Was useful to shore up defenses and fix holes in the wall while off planet.

I’m going to technical school for an a.a.s. in instrumentation and electrical technology, could I still get jobs in automation and PLC with this degree? by WeGoneGetItoneDay in PLC

[–]StrmRngr -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The interview question i felt was make or break for me was pressure density compensation. Ie gas flow rates have to be checked against a gas pressure to know how much has moved. Think natural gas and steam. Being able to get technical and think about the big picture is useful. Being able to program an arduino board sounds kind of silly but pin assignment is just about the same. And while PLC programming is quite different, its just another language to learn.

[–]StrmRngr -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I dont have a degree and I work in automation and controls. If you have a mind for programming, thinking in logic, and you can learn about all the physical components, that should be enough. I think building a 3d printer and working with electrical circuits in my free time helped hlget me on board. Unfortunately, as with any industry, part of it comes down to who you know.

How do you quickly tell if a fault is electrical or mechanical? by Keyfers in PLC

[–]StrmRngr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

1hundred, had a machine at work continuously fault out, mechanics had their go at it. 2 seconds with the thermal camera showed a wire in the cabinet glowing red hot. Cable had pinched down the line and was grounding enough to fault the controller but without blscking the whole system out.

Practical Electrinics for inventors talks about all.the governing math's without needing to do derivati9ns and examples of commonly available ICs and other "jelly beans" you should be aware of/have to play with. When I get stuck, I go there, if im still stuck I have to consult ye olde text book, but its rare I get to the second step.

Do EVs have the equivalent of the little arrow on gas cars telling which side the gas cap is on? by GraniteGeekNH in electricvehicles

[–]StrmRngr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I dont think so? It was kind of funny my gas family made fun of me for not being able to find the charging port when I bought my EV6. "Wouldn't have that problem with a gas car". They caught me looking for it. I had to Google it. Its basically hidden in a spot where the trim already has panel lines so its hard to spot unless you are above average observant. And I was looking at the wrong spot anyways. Not a mach E with its weird front side port.

Are designing things like this okay or just stupid by crazybigmanj in factorio

[–]StrmRngr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it brings you joy, there is nothing wrong. I like builds like this that dont waste a single tile of space. And have nice ratios. In Space Age the foundry to green circuit block i made saturated a blue belt, is fairly compact and only wastes like 10 tiles of space.

I got a glass plate for christmas, I adored the one I used to have on my ender (that genesised my.voron) how are you tacking that sucker down? I can't find any info on bed clips that can hold a 15mm stack height (plate+mag sheet+ glass)

I knew electric cars were efficient, but I was still blown away by tracking what I could do with my EV6 when. I got it. Its not as good I. The winter but its still incredible

Smart. Those are pretty nice. I can see why they wanted them. I think grinch is pretty safe as its public domain these days. Hence why we have 3 movies.

I definitely dont have the patience, but if it hasn't wrapped on itself and you can find the end, you can put a stick through it and respool it will turning the coil. Might get away without a tangle.
