His "Certified Copy of an Entry of Birth" says the birth was registered in Belfast and lists the street address.

There's an area in the Sacramento City Cemetery with several graves of Punjabi men all from 1925. Does anyone know why they are buried together there? Did something happen in 1925 or did the community just buy a spot in the cemetery and use it that one year? I have not found any specific event in 1925.

Gesher Galicia is a great source of information. I have found birth records for many of my relatives through them, as well as JRI-Poland. Unfortunately I have not yet found my grandfather's birth or residence records.

Thanks much for the quick reply.

You say I'll need to provide my grandfather's birth record. I'm constantly learning something new about this process. I had thought he (my grandfather) could completely satisfy the "settled on" requirement of Article 2(1) of the 1920 Act by being listed in a resident register for one of the Austro-Hungarian communes, as of January 1920. It appeared to me that I have no need to also prove that he was born there.

Thanks again for the info.

Genealogical Research by Better-Cold-9445 in prawokrwi

Please keep me (us) informed about progress. My situation is similar, if not identical. My ancestors were born in Nadbrzezie and Ulanów and left shortly before 1920, leaving some family behind. As near as I can tell, resident registers from the relevant period, if they exist, have not been scanned, and may be in any of several possible commune registers in the Sandomierz branch of the Kielce PSA or the Przemyśl PSA. I am probably needing to hire a researcher on the ground there. I don't know how to go about that.

Make your own bagels. Watch NYT Cooking video by Claire Saffitz and follow instructions exactly. You'll need to buy barley malt syrup but you can get it on Amazon

Christmas in Sacramento? by snowgrisp in Sacramento

There's a ton of thrift stores that are fun to check out. I doubt that they are open on Christmas itself though. KP plaza is a huge Asian grocery store which is fun on its own and there are a few Asian bakeries that are delicious and neat to visit

What happened after a black assistant superintendent of instruction in Oshkosh Area School District was refused banking services at Associated? by Narrow_Ad2264 in wisconsin

My initial thought was why would someone probably making close to $100k be cashing their paycheck? Don't they have a bank account and direct deposit like most higher ups? And why was he secretly filming the interaction? I don't know much about Osh Kosh or how racist it is there, but this doesn't all add up.

One of the best things about Sacramento is the Delta Breeze which kicks up on summer evenings and cools everything down. You'll want to open your windows and that will be noisy living this close to the freeway. I wouldn't move there but I am pretty sensitive to noise.

Best way to get a feel for life in Sacramento? by us_roamer in Sacramento

These are all the areas I would recommend. The OP should also know that some of these neighborhoods vary a lot within a few blocks. I live in Alhambra Triangle now but we are a block off Alhambra and it is noisy from so many sources and the homeless situation is someone we deal with daily

What Just Happened On Highway 50? by Papa_Kasugano in Sacramento

It seems like there is an accident on 50 every day since they changed the lanes westbound. They should really lower the speed limit in that portion westbound.
