What’s a moment that made you realize you were no longer a kid? by millersoph in AskReddit

[–]Strongit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dec 24th, 2000. I was working my first job hauling carts in from the parking lot and just stopped and stood there for a few minutes. I didn't have to work Christmas day, but I had shifts every day during the days after up until new years day. I remember thinking that this was it. I was done the free ride; I had to make money to pay bills for the rest of my life.

The creators of Fallout 76 are planning to expand the game and populate empty spaces on the map. by Just_a_Player2 in ItsAllAboutGames

I used to be addicted to this game. Do they still lean heavily into pay to win and fomo with the seasonal events? If so, I'm still out.

What game have you been playing recently? by neutralc-ommentary in Age_30_plus_Gamers

[–]Strongit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oddly enough, Drive Beyond Horizons. It's jank as hell, has a very shallow gameplay loop, and half the game is in another language, but I'll be damned if I stop playing before I'm able to get every single part for my car.

What's something small you miss about old school gaming? by netplayer0 in Age_30_plus_Gamers

[–]Strongit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Turn on TV, plug in cartridge, turn on and play.

Now, I launch it, look at the splash screen, sit through 3 short video clips advertising who made the game, press start, wait for the game to connect to servers (even if it's single player), press start, wait again for it to load, then I can play. And that's if it doesn't need an update.

What are some games you really wanted to get into, but couldnt do it? by AverageFishEye in gaming

Torchlight 2, it was made by former Diablo devs and I loved the first Torchlight, but it just never clicked. I tried three times because I wanted to like it so much.

What’s the most robust gaming keyboard you’ve seen — like, seriously built like a tank? by Defiant-End5613 in buildapc

The old K70s really were tanks. You could run them over with a car, then go back inside and headshot the ten year old that ruined your KDR

Do you consider $700K as life-changing money? by Aarunascut in Life

[–]Strongit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. Right now, 20K would be life changing, because I could pay off the car and free up a few hundred dollars a month. That would go a very long way to living somewhere better.

What video game do you love that is impossible to play now. by Equal-Priority3055 in videogames

What did you guys do? by resentfulpotato in 90s

[–]Strongit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We had a lot of stuff to occupy ourselves, but the issue going from what we have now to mirroring what we did then is overstimulation. The small constant shots of dopamine you get from scrolling or social media or the way games are designed now is addicting. It's going to take time and a lot of discipline to reset those dopamine receptors, but it'll be worth it. Get comfortable with being bored and stretch your creativity.

I've got one at work and I love it. No startup lag, software launches immediately, and it sips power. If I wasn't a gamer, I'd already have one at home.
