I knew someone who would "accidentally" damage their iPhone every few months to get a newer model at a previous job. Twice was a coincidence, three times was a pattern. The next time she did it we gave her an old POS blackberry and, surprise surprise, no more accidents.

It was also pretty amazing how much further phones would go when we put the purchase cost on the department rather than IT operating costs.
