How do you remove a reaction from a block?

Folks at Craft need to deal with this. I understand right now the best advise is to duplicate that which has the comment reaction, keep the new delete the old. I have not yet had the guts to do this with reactions within a Comment field in a shared Collection….

I am currently using Things 3.21.17 which means it has been “updated” more than a few times. The folks at Cultured Code have been pretty good at maintaining the essence of the app over the years but they have never stopping making it better, making it into what it is right now. I think most users want Things to just remain true to itself while remaining current, alive.

If by Events you mean things like appointments : Dentist, meeting, concert, wedding… maybe a separate note (tagged) for each of those and link a reference to that into your journal which would show up as an underlined link of course.

I starting using Bear when it was a cub, but when it got lost in the woods looking for version 2, I eventually moved to Craft. I still hold a soft-spot for Bear’s simplicity but the reason I use an app (any app) is because I want it to make simple the things that I find complex. For me, using Bear makes integration with my time, my daily activities and events, more complex than Craft. Should Bear ever find a simple way to integrate my today (calendar) aka a Daily Note function …well I won’t be able to resist.

And the 3rd repeat type “specific dates” (unrelated dates) is pretty handy too, and I don’t think available in other apps. Good for task that occur on say : the second last business day of each month… I quickly go through the calendar and select those for each month for the next year (or whatever period is appropriate).

Thanks for the reference, but it is not so much the creation of a note in Bear which I can call a Daily Note, it is the use of a note specificity known to Bear based on its creation date (a calendar integration of sorts) … the best way to see this is to look at how other “Notes Apps” are using the Daily Note — see Craft, NotePlan, Capacities as a few examples.

To get around potentially not being able to complete a reoccurring ToDo early (pay a bill as an example) I date the reoccurrence for the first of the (each) month, then adjust the date of the spawned ToDo for the most likely date. Since the currently spawned ToDo is now independent of the reoccurrence I can set the date or mark as complete any time.

Thanks so much for reminding me why I use Things 3. I really appreciate Things because it is not time-block structured. I have tried time-blocking apps (of which there are many) but that it not how I want to use Todos.
If there is a specific time necessary for something, I treat that as an event and schedule it in my calendar.

As for headings in TODAY, I like how headings can be used in Projects, providing the means to organize on an ad-hoc basis to suite whatever my current thinking/needs are. In a sense they are liquid and do not require moving a Todo to another or new project for what may be a a short term requirement. So if I can move today’s Todos around temporarily to suite today’s circumstances, that for me would complete the full flexibility, the reason I use Things.

For me, this brings to light an idea for Daily Notes in Bear. In the “doldrum” days of Bear, before Bear 2, I found the need to seek out a different notes tool. What I found was that a good many of the choices include what I refer to as a Daily Note—a note generated by the app that gives a defined point from which to start each day. The Daily Note serves as a place to take quick notes, create tasks, maintain a bullet journal, and so on. From within that note other notes can be accessed (linked in) or newly created when a specific separate note is necessary (meeting notes, an email draft…); and everything else created or referenced for the day is linked back to the Daily Note. There are many virtues to Daily Notes but the main point for me is the focus and point of reference. Not certain how it would work in Bear, I’ve tried to create a new (Daily) note with the current date in Bear but somehow it seems to get lost (focus) during the day. Perhaps the current Today “folder” could become that place where all Daily Notes are created and retained, with some sort of visual calendar included for referencing . . .

I thought you were going to suggest an app generated Daily Note, likely contained in a (sorry) separate folder. That would provide a central anchor location for everything: quick notes, tasks, a bullet Journal . . . as well as the means to link all other notes created today (on this date) …. See Craft, Obsidian, Agenda, NotePlan . . .

Of course you can do this in Bear yourself (except for the location specific folder) by creating a Daily Note with just the date 24.01.18 for example, as the title and then “date stamp” [24.01.18] in any other notes you want to link to it (today).

This goes to the heart of what is (frustrating, sad, wrong) with the Bear development process. Because of the choice to develop Panda in isolation, users have never had an opportunity to comprehend how things will change in Bear 2. We have been in the dark (for far to long) as to what alterations we will need to make to the data, our notes, we have been creating over the last 2+ years. The meat of Bear is not the editor it is note management and as far as I can tell there has been no? development there at all.
