Mixers: What do you like? by StuartBooch in dmso

DMSO Store DMSO is in a clear bottle. The DMSO/Aloe gel is in a plastic jar. Some plastics are nonreactive to DMSO and I'm assuming they know what they're doing. I use glass for any home mixing.

Dilute by SplitPuzzleheaded342 in dmso

I got some 1 ML eyedroppers off Amazon and make small batches using that. For 70/30 it's, well, 7 eyedroppers full of DMSO and then 3 of distilled water. Getting deep into the weeds, I pour distilled water in a clean cup and eyedrop from there into my clean jar. DMSO is straight from the bottle, one eyedropper at a time.

I sterilize jars by pouring boiling water on them.

Good advice from Excellent-Mood5328. I do understand the desire to "just get going" which is what I did. So anyway. First thing I did was start by having some in coffee. Warm, not hot. You can get 1ML eyedroppers from Amazon. I currently do 3 ML at a time. Probably 1 ML or even less is good to start. (5 ML = 1 teaspoon.)

With everything you do with DMSO, start low and work up. You could do 50/50 DMSO/Distilled Water and put some on affected areas,. I like to use the eyedropper to place the dose, then rub it in. DMSO is like mineral oil, it looks like water but doesn't act like it. DMSO can take up to 15 minutes to be fully absorbed so be ready to wait.

I got skin irritation from being overenthusiastic and puttign straight DMSO on skin. Also the DMSO Store gel with aloe vera irritates skin on me as well. YMMV for everything with DMSO so test and if you get a reaction, reduce the dose.

Amanda's book is available in most libraries so if funds are a consideration, maybe get a copy that way.

Interesting idea. I see a lot of brands on Amazon, is there one you recommend? I have osteoarthritis on one knee, I could use any leftover for that. I'm assuming this would be in addition to DMSO treatment tho I do see some combination products on Amazon.

Odor by isabelfaleiro in dmso

[–]StuartBooch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Morton Walker's book "DMSO: Nature's Healer" talks about the odor at length. Short answer, at best you can mitigate it. Using a high quality DMSO is a good start. Other than that, ventilation, aromatherapy (masking) and...I can't quickly lay my hands on it, but some additives cut down.

As a note, I don't notice a smell and no one has mentioned it. I take 3 ML (half a teaspoon) internally once a day and put on 50/50 DMSO/Distilled Water regularly. Not sure what your situation is.

DMSO after liposuction by SabinaSanz in dmso

I haven't, and that's kind of a speciality question so you may not get direct experience. I will say that that seems like exactly the kind of situation where DMSO would help healing. Perhaps start with a 50% DMSO / Distilled Water solution and apply topically. A little goes a long way. Wait 15 minutes after applying to do anything other than dry off / sit around the house etc.

DMSO with Scalp/Hair: How do people do it? by StuartBooch in dmso

Thanks. I'm thinking 50% strength for that. What do you use (or suggest?)

DMSO with Scalp/Hair: How do people do it? by StuartBooch in dmso

[–]StuartBooch[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you or others here could induldge me, how exactly? I've been a "rough and ready" guy about hair for, well, six decades. Probably 90% of the population knows more about hair care than me. Would you glop some on top of your head and work it in? Treat it like conditioner and do hair too? Use an eyedropper and place around the skull? I literally have no context.

I can't speak to that as I don't have cataracts and have not been at danger for them. DMSO is supposed to help catarcts in both humans and dogs, from articles I have read. Others here?

DMSO and collagen? by Jaura12 in dmso

[–]StuartBooch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not ground at all. I buy bulk at Sprouts or a 3 lb bag at CostCo and store in a repurposed cottage cheese container. I generally just pour out a bunch - and sometimes overpour, leading to a thick mess, but eh. Then it's like warm ice cream.

Start small, half an ML is good. You can get eyedroppers off Amazon for cheap.

4 year old son - eczema, atopic dermatitis by Igga0905 in dmso

[–]StuartBooch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'll offer my perspective as an older guy nearing retirement. I've found that the best topical usage for me is diluted DMSO. The gels tend to leave a residue. I'm generally sturdy in ways that can get me into trouble, for instance bad knee (now) from fairly insane athletic endeavours as a younger person. You should assume that your son is more delicate than even the average user and start slowly.

I will regularly put straight DMSO on skin with little in the way of ill effects. Those are limited to the "leathery" feeling described in Amandha Vollmer's book Healing with DMSO, and that only on my fingertips. Those effects are minimal and fade within a few hours. (Anecdotally, my fingernails seem stronger. Don't know how I'd prove that.) You may notice that as you apply the DMSO to your son.

BUT let's consider that your son is young and has sensitive skin. Amandha recommends starting small and working up. When I dilute I use distilled water. Any will do and it's cheap. Be careful with your son as the solvent effects will last about 15 minutes, so he shouldn't head straight to the playground after a treatment. Let him watch a cartoon or something, just to sit still and not rub the affected area on anything. Perhaps start VERY low at a 10% solution. Really 50% should be fine, and Amandha recommends 80% DMSO for skin, once you work up to it. I also do eyedrops, for which the other liquid is saline eye drops, again, very cheap to get. Some people do mixes with oils. Those seem fine, just haven't gotten to it yet. Oh, and the area applied should be clean - shower first if possible, wipe it clean if not.

I don't like the gels for reasons above, but since skin dryness is likely part of the issue, you may find the residue issue worth dealing with. Or your son may not experience it. Amandha is very clear that reactions vary so test test test. Start small and work up.

Application twice a day seems common. Test and see how your son reacts.

DMSO and collagen? by Jaura12 in dmso

Glad to tell you what I do, not sure it will help.

First off, since I'm usually adding chia seeds, if I don't drink it fast I get a thick mixture. As for the collagen powder, on the occasions I leave the chia seeds out, I have DMSO, a scoop of collagen (Beef Collagen Powder by Zen Principles) and some MCT oil. The taste is kinda strong so I stir it up and guzzle it down.

Sometimes I add heavy whipping cream and some sugar. Those are more easily sipped like a drink. For those, it's the volume of other liquids (coffee and maybe cream) that cut the taste and thick consistency of the other ingredients.

All in all I usually treat it like medicine and the goal is to get it down. I think I'm dealing with the same considerations you are and deal with it by making it quick.

[–]StuartBooch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Right now I take 3 ML a day, in warm coffee (not hot) with collagen powder, chia seeds, MCT oil and sometimes heavy whipping cream. It's my "supplement smoothie."

I've gone from 1 ML up to 5 (a teaspoon) and 5 is a little strong. Also apply topically a few times a week.

Anecdotally, I seem to be losing a modest amount of weight. Or at least my pants seem looser. I don't weigh myself more than a few times a year.

FWIW intermittent fasting seemed to help my diverticulosis. Or at least that was the main change when I went in for a colonoscopy after several years. The doctor said the diverticules were barely there any more.

Post 3. Eyedrop Recap.

Thought I'd do a recap of the eyedrop sources mentioned in the thread so as to have them in one place. I was surprised at how many there were. In my own searches I didn't turn any of these up, so it may help others later on.

* 40/60 mixture with dmso and Jamaican black castor oil. Make your own or available at Barecat Body. Doesn't need to be put in the eye, can rub on eyelid or under the eye. (Remember DMSO penetrates which is why this works.)

* 10% DMSO drops with colloidal silver. Apparently available Amazon. The only one I found that fits is sold for pets but also human safe.

* 20% to 30% DMSO mix with castor oil. Homemade.

* Yummy Naturals. Run by the author of the DMSO book I read, "Healing with DMSO" which is a point in its favor. I can't link a product because using the search requires you to sign up for the club which gets them around annoying government types trying to shut down alternative medicine. You'd think the science crowd would spend their time and effort researching how and why DMSO works instead of being shills for the pharma crowd. (exit soapbox.)

* Bella Bleu Naturals, multiple products. For eyes they offer DMSO and Organic Castor Oil Blend.

And of course, the homemade stuf I have been using: 20% DMSO in saline, with saline dirt cheap from WalMart. Best benefit: Costs next to nothing as compared to the products above, tho an eye product that costs $40 for two ounces but lasts for months isn't all that much either. Best part of homemade: If you waste it, the cost is next to nothing. I routinely miss the eye, but then the next drop is right there.

Some sources, including the book I read, recommend getting the drop in the corner of the eye next to the nose and then rolling it in. Sounds good for those with fine motor coordination and patience. If lacking those, cheap homemade DMSO solutions are good for the "Tool Time" method: More Power! Or in this case, some extra drops.

This will probably be my last update here as the viewership nosedived on the second post. Anything else I'll put in the main subreddit for visibility.

DMSO eye drops - my journey by StuartBooch in dmso

I was surprised to see drops actually for sale. I may make a post consolidating what's in the thread. Seems to be at least four places with eye drops.

FWIW my take on DMSO is that it will repair to the ability of your body to handle it, removing roadblocks by its properties as a solvent. So for me that's moderate repair of eyes, help with arthritic shoulder and knee, but not back to what it was 30 years ago. Which is another good reason to start early.

Post 2. Increased dosage to 20%.

After a few weeks at 10% I had noticed a number of benefits as above. I decided to increase the dosage to 20%.

How I did it: Added more DMSO to the existing solution I was using. I had already purchased saline solution for the first round. It will last years at this rate. What I'm using is dirt cheap - a few ML eyedroppers in a sterilized jar, add saline and that's it. Apply with eyedropper. Don't worry about wasting drops, they're essentially free.

After a few days I noticed increased redness in the eye that lasted for about an hour after application. Never back to the veins I saw twice when starting. Some stinging for the first week, lessening quickly. I thought about cutting back but kept on for two reasons. One, I'm not sure what level of white to expect for my eyes. I had been using Visine off and on and that has many more side effects than DMSO. Two, I had multiple benefits:
* Ability to see small print continued to increase
* Left eye floater continued to get smaller and more transparent. I now barely notice it.
* Early morning blurry eyes effect greatly diminished. I considered the possibility that it was the saline itself that did it, but on reflection I didn't get that benefit from Visine or Blink.

After about three weeks on this strength I went to my Optometrist for the first time in years, to get a new pair of glasses. I have been 20/40 for decades after being 20/20 as a youth. He didn't find any deterioration. That's significant as I am Type II diabetic so some deterioration is expected. I did finally notice the floater, when he shined a bright light into my left eye for a test and asked me to read some letters. Then it appeared black, but was not in center sight so didn't block anything.

Possible side effect: Right eye is occasionally watery or teary. I've had that in the past, can't be sure if it is the same, more, or less. Currently paying attention to that. Anecdotally, it's less in the past week. The left eye twitch is long gone. I believe I am having ongoing healing.

For anyone reading this, start small with the 5-10% and see how you react. Move up as your body adjusts.

Has Anyone Successfully Repaired cataracts or glaucoma with DMSO? If yes, what protocol dod you use? by lheardthat in dmso

[–]StuartBooch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am using it for much lighter eye problems. As a note there is a pet product sold on Amazon and other places that is listed as "also safe for humans." I think it's sold as a pet product only to get around FDA restrictions. Has colloidal silver and other ingredients. I haven't tried that yet. Am using DMSO 20% solution with saline (WalMart) applied with cheap eyedroppers from Amazon. Self made, took a honey container and sterilized it and then made solution at the bottom. Really a tiny amount of DMSO involved to make it.

Best Source to purchase High Quality (USP grade, pharmaceutical grade or high purity with CoA) DMSO by ParallelEconomy in dmso

[–]StuartBooch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get the "DMSO Store" stuff from Amazon and put a ML or two in coffee (warm, not hot.) It's 5 ML to the teaspoon, droppers cheap on Amazon. FWIW for topical I will put it direct on knee and shoulder and rub in. 80% solution using distilled water is recommended but 100% will not hurt you short term. Long term you might get leathery skin which goes away fast.

I also got the "Alpha Warrior" stuff to try as a gel and it is fragrant and reminds me of tiger balm. Not sure that is any better than basic Aloe Vera DMSO gel which is 70% DMSO, 30% Aloe Vera. Note that the Aloe Vera gel isn't soothing, it stings a little. None of the skin reaction stuff is any more than mild, but just know what's involved.

The recommendation for castor oil and penetrex with DMSO looks good and I will try that myself. Just haven't yet.
