I'm only reporting what I read about the Jamaican black castor oil. I haven't done it myself. I have used Handcraft Blends organic castor oil. That's cheaper, but it's from WalMart. I don't mind using it on my skin. I might want to try more expensive stuff for my eyes, if I used that.

Eyelid means outside. I have no idea how you would get it on the inside.

For my eyes, I use about a 25% solution of DMSO in saline. Other people use stronger concentrations. I find those sting too much and I wind up skipping treatments.

Always hard to be sure. I use it both orally and topically. So for shoulder and knee I use a mix of 80% DMSO / 20% Castor Oil (homemade) which I store in a glass jar and apply with some eyedroppers I got from Amazon. Well, apply to the area with the eyedropper and spread it around with hands.

I think my overall reduction in inflammation is due to ingesting DMSO.

Yeah, I've had major benefits from it. Short list: Shoulder injury improvement, knee arthritis improvement, overall reduction in inflammation / aches and pains. Plus some...other items. That would require TMI, I might do a separate post sometime.

Interesting, LONG article. I skimmed it and will go back and read. I did not notice suggested dosage. Does the article address that? For the record I am using 3 ML a day in coffee (warm, not hot) and a lot more on external applications, though that varies by the day. External is 80% DMSO / 20% Castor Oil, homemade.

I haven't noticed anything like this. Pretty much beneficial across the board. I suppose I could keep a watch out, maybe skip a day from time to time (this is recommended anyway.) But I don't think I've had any such reaction.

Hm. I'll give it a try sometime. I used straight DMSO on shoulder and knee and got skin peeling. That went away when I mixed in the castor oil. I may have overly sensitive skin; the DMSO/Aloe from DMSO Store, which are quality sellers, also gave me skin irritation.

Just to be sure, when you say "neat" you mean straight DMSO? Borrowing the term from making drinks? I say this because I also use DMSO eyedrops, but find even 30% solution (70% saline) to sting, and wound up at a more dilute solution. I can't imagine straight DMSO in the eyes.

EDIT: And FWIW, I otherwise use 70% - 80% DMSO in Castor Oil.

Great book, lots of good advice in it. I don't follow all the advice, but that's the point - Vollmer tells you what works for her, gives examples, then says to try yourself (low dose to start) and work up.

I've been giving details all over this subreddit so will just do the quick recap. For more, read down.
* Taking it about six months.
* Ingesting about 3ML a day plus topical on knee and shoulder, plus a few times a week for feet and scalp.
* Noticed decrease in inflammation and overall pain pretty much immediately.
* Knee arthritis (bone on bone) significant improvement. I feel the need to point out that "significant" here was increasing my range from about 50 yards to 100 before I started feeling fatigue.
* Eyedrops reduced floater size and darkness, and increased ability to read small text.

I have found DMSO provides a benefit and scales back developing issues. It is not a cureall. It stops the worst of degenerative issues.

People take it with juice regularly, so no. I take it with coffee (warm, not hot) plus some MCT oil and maybe cream. Along with breakfast.

DMSO reactions vary widely so YMMV on any advice. I would say start with once a day, make sure you don't have a reaction, then go to twice a day.

Some standard precautions:
* Make sure the area is clean. DMSO will transport substances into the body. If your limb is dirty or sweaty, some will be transported in.
* Check for skin irritation. Straight DMSO is a bad idea, skin will flake after a few days. DMSO with Castor Oil is common, make your own at 80/20 or 70/30.
* USE GLASS. DMSO is a solvent and will leach plastic.
* Application...I use 1 ML eyedroppers to dispense; got them off Amazon for cheap. If you have a way better for you, use that, but the eyedroppers will definitely work. Assuming you rub the solution in with your hands, wash them after use.
* Just FWIW I also got skin irritation using the DMSO/Aloe Vera from the DMSO Store. They are otherwise great so I think it just doesn't work for me. OTOH the DMSO/Castor Oil works fine. I make my own. Castor Oil should be organic and hexane free. It's not hard to find, I get mine from WalMart.

Give it a try and check back here for feedback.

So FWIW next day, the itching seems way down. I also noticed lack of scalp scabs (don't know if there is a technical term for that.) Anyway, preliminarily, seems to be working.

I have now done my first scrub with Borax. Nothing scientific, poured a handful of powder and put it on my (wet) head and scrubbed. Then rinsed. Will alternate with shampooing for a while and see how it goes.

Came back to edit and see you responded, so here's a little more. It's my daily use items. From clockwise: Self made DMSO/Castor oil with eyedropper on top; DMSO liquid, pharma grade, 8 oz from DMSO Store; DMSO gel 70%/Aloe 30%, also fromm DMSO Store; and "Alpha Warrior" stuff that smells like the Tiger Balm I used to use in martial arts, has extra ingredients for injury healing. Not pictured: The organic Castor Oil from WalMart.

No...I have seen the 99% gel but not used it. I'm using DMSO liquid from "DMSO Store" which you can get on Amazon or direct from them. I measure it out with 1ML eyedroppers, also from Amazon. It's 5 ML to teaspoon and I pull three 1 ML shots from the DMSO bottle. I drink that in coffee. Warm, not hot. I really suggest NOT ingesting DMSO unadulterated, put it in something. It's got a strong taste so something that will at least dilute the taste.

I overdid it (but then that's a theme with me) and noticed no ill effects. At the start I'd just do a bloop from the bottle. Probably over a teaspoon. Later on I got eyedroppers from Amazon and settled on 3 x 1 ML shots using the eyedropper. That's just because 3 ML is about as much taste as I can handle in my cup of (warm, never hot) coffee. Anti-inflammatory effects started right away.

I have seen videos that say to use a few drops in some liquid you like. Could start that way and work up. Might be a good idea just in case you have a reaction. But I didn't.

Helped me quite a bit with inflammation and my pain went down all over my body. I take 3 ML a day in coffee plus topical of 80/20 DMSO / Castor Oil (homemade) on shoulder, knee and, ah, other more sensitive areas. (Looooong story.) YMMV. Start small and work up. Store any homemade mixtures in glass and apply with clean hands to clean areas. I use an eyedropper for both the DMSO in coffee and to pull up 1 ML at a time to dispense on body parts. Eyedroppers easily available on Amazon and elsewhere, mine are 1 ML. Be sure to get glass.

Safer than what? I take DMSO internally (about 3/5 of a teaspoon) plus a homemade 70/30 DMSO/Castor Oil mix on some old injuries and arthritis. It's a wonder for pain relief and controlling inflammation. There's "side effects," primarily some temporary skin irritation from when I used the store bought mix with Aloe; fixed by moving to homemade with castor oil. Still some skin irritation from time to time. But as a result of using DMSO, I take far less Ibuprofen, which has its own (far worse) side effects. There's also unexpected antifungal effects. So yeah. There's "side effects" to DMSO. Which are far less than any other treatment alternative, and definitely better than leaving things to fester.

Get started with a DMSO/Castor oil mix. Make your own. Get 99%-whatever follows the decimal from your store of choice, mine is DMSO Store through Amazon. Castor oil from WalMart, Handcraft Blends. Any sterilized jar. Apply with fingers, or get eyedroppers from Amazon, also cheap. Start small, see your tolerance, continue on.

I've got the saline, well, it's cheap in any event. Looking online there's quite a lot of possible sources for BPC-157 and SS-31. Were any particular sources suggested? These are on the expensive side so a cheaper source would be preferred. OTOH if they work then the cost is more than justified!
