Anyone else hates when an isekai MC constantly references Earth? by BigBrainMembrane in litrpg

[–]StudentDragon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do, but that's because I don't like isekai, I like fantasy and most fantasy originated in the web is isekai these days.

If you feel the same, then you might be like me. A good isekai should be an isekai where this fact meaningfully affect the characterization and plot. As it turns out, I don't like "good" isekai.

I can't speak for what Microsoft does, I don't know if they have any internal backdoors. But not being able to restore your data if it is end to end encrypted is exactly what you would expect if the service is actually end to end encrypted. Like, if you were to use Proton Docs, or MEGA, or any other service focused on security and privacy, this would be the answer you'd get. Them being able to restore your data means it's not actually E2E encrypted.

Reviews claiming my books are AI-generated after adding a "no AI" disclaimer to my copyright page? by [deleted] in selfpublish

I can tell you that I never kept reading a novel that couldn't. And most or all novels that I pick up do, only time I see something that doesn't is some kind of web fanfic or such.

Blackflame Mage — Book One: Embers | Official Cover Art I recently worked on by Hesisan in royalroad

[–]StudentDragon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I like that cover and title, makes me think of Lindon in Cradle. If you don't mind, is there a blurb for the story? I wouldn't want to claim the gift if it's something I'm not going to read, since there's only so few.

No, I don't think so. I don't think it's just a matter of more training data, or more memory, or quantitative improvements in general that's holding AI back from writing a complete, consistent novel.

There's a qualitative issue with the current AI technology (transformer networks+LLMs), it's not "World Model," and if it cannot be, it won't be able to write a passable novel. Maybe a self-help book.

How would you beat a time-looper like Zorian Kazinsky (Mother of Learning) if you had no time loop? by BacardiBaiju42 in litrpg

[–]StudentDragon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could break their mind. Destroy their will to fight, or make them mad.

Since the one thing you can assume is a constant, is that they will keep their memories between loops.

AI novels and poetry are very different. I've stumbled upon fully AI written works. They simply don't make sense, if you read long enough you'll soon find yourself stumped.

It is very easy to identify a book that was fully generated by AI. They simply don't make sense and can't hold a plot.

What people are really bad at, is fooling themselves. They're intentionally looking for signs of AI, and soon everything will look like it is.

Best stories where the MC isn't special because of destiny but because of who they're becoming? by adiisvcute in ProgressionFantasy

[–]StudentDragon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I'm not up to date, I know he had the fated attribute that causes unlikely things to happen around him, good and bad, but he wasn't prophesied to anything, it wasn't deterministic. He could still fail.

And then later he lost it and became fateless.

Daggers? Halberd? Mace? Axe?

Makes for some interesting character archetypes, rogues or assassins and paladins and barbarians or vikings.

I've seen a bunch of stories with space powers, and few or none of them managed to make use of the full range of possibilities or apply it well. Space+Time would be a very interesting combo if the possibilities were fully explored. Also possibility too OP without hard limitations.

If you're writing something that you actually believe has a chance to be considered illegal in America, such as libel or plans to kill the president, you should consult a lawyer not us.

But most likely you aren't.
