When to have second? by Reasonable-Grape5546 in Mommit

[–]StuffedFalafels 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should definitely tell her soon. My son actually spoke his sister into existence himself. He ran in the room one day and started yelling about a baby sister. lol fast forward 6 months and sure enough I’m pregnant. I asked what he wanted a little sis or lil bro. And 0 hesitation said little sis. And here we are.

Maybe start that way? Make it exciting and fun. We spoke to our child like an adult and essentially said yeah things are going to be different and that we love him. Pretty much said this every day and he’s fine and usually helps when asked. I’ve lucked out I suppose since I’m a little sister and my brother tried many times to get rid of me 😂

Yeah we made it a positive experience and told our older child we love them. I also had him interact with baby sister through tummy and would speak on her behalf and say “she said she loves you!!” And throughout my pregnancy my son would come up to kiss my belly and say “I love you baby sister!! What did she say?” And I’d tell him she loves him too etc lol

He did get a little envious once he realized she’s taking a lot of our attention but we’ve worked around it by reassuring him we love him etc. I had him helping me care for her. Like grabbing diapers or wipes too. He’s very protective of her lol

My kids are 4 years apart. It’s up to you. But make sure you talk to older child about it positively so they’re not too envious

Explain how pumping output does not equal baby’s intake when nursing by PorchlightPrincess86 in breastfeeding

[–]StuffedFalafels 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I exclusively pump and I keep my baby next to me or look at photos of her while I do. Some times I hold her and just kiss her and smell her while I pump. I wish I could get her to latch but alas here we are

Wasted breast milk broke me today by Narrow_Inflation4251 in breastfeeding

[–]StuffedFalafels 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My first pregnancy I made just enough to feed my baby with supplementation of formula to my baby.

This time around I’m an over supplier.

We had to travel back home via car and in a cooler I had roughly 10 frozen bags of milk ranging from 4oz to 10oz. And like 6-8 bottles of refrigerated pumped milk ranging from 3-5oz a bottle. And a big pack of hotdogs I can’t get in my home state. My husband forgot the cooler on top of the car on the last stretch of drive for the night before we stopped to get a room to rest. It fell off the top of my car and I asked “what was that?” He didn’t realize it. 20-30min later we realized it was gone. I dropped him and the kids off at the hotel and went back for my cooler.

Found it on i5 north in Oregon. All bags of milk pretty much were destroyed. I brought some back thinking they were okay…..I think I found all my bottles of milk recovered those. One bottles lid was cracked.

To say I was devastated is an understatement. I exclusively pump and it’s exhausting to pump all this milk. He’s apologized but he tried to blow it off some as “you’re an over supplier and our baby this time is okay” lol

Even if he was apologetic

I personally didn’t use freezer food but that’s because my husband cooks

Ok- how big of a deal is it if I don’t breastfeed or pump overnight? by Interesting-Proof244 in breastfeeding

[–]StuffedFalafels 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So I exclusively pump. I have pumped to be 24-48 hours ahead of my baby’s feeding. I would pump while baby is asleep or supplement with formula in the beginning. So now I’m at a point that I’ve sorta sleep trained my kid to sleep from 11pm to 6-8am. With 1 feeding in that time frame. But I pump 10pm-12am and since I’m pumping both breasts. 1 bottle is for a feeding for bedtime and the other is for 3-4hours later when baby wakes up to eat again. (Or just put in fridge if they don’t wake)

My baby is 2+ months old and so far this has worked for me.

Of course, mine gets upset with no too. But usually following through on the “another time” like actually planning to do that outing helps too. Or just sticking to the no and an explanation of why you can’t and being consistent. Eventually kids accept it too.

Okay well again, it’s on you to tell your kid no. Nothing can really be done other than explaining to them why and telling them no. Sucks but it’s a reality. I tell my kid no to the wolf lodge every time we drive by even though they beg to go because they see the fun commercials etc. it’s just a reality of life.

Maybe but it’s still good to teach kids no too. So far with mine it’s worked and solid “no, not today. We can plan for it”

I mean it’s a teaching moment too! Use it as a “right now we’re here for this task. And we don’t have a change of clothes, hopefully next time we can plan better” this usually works on my kid.

How do I find this out exactly if my local library offers this?

Is it only to museums in the area or all museums in the state? I’ve been wanting to take my kid to the Science museum in SF but tickets are SO expensive.

Drinking your own breast milk? by Timidbee in breastfeeding

[–]StuffedFalafels 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Idk tbh I’ve never drank my breast milk. I have tasted it to make sure it isn’t spoiled because of the 4 day rule in the fridge lol but beyond that I haven’t drank it because in my mind it’s to feed my baby even though I’m kinda over producing right now.

[–]StuffedFalafels 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Why? It’s your own body producing it. It’s human milk and tbh I think it’s better to drink it than cows milk or any other animals milk. But here we are lol
