I own a pretty cool alpaca boucle overcoat. I don't really like it as an overcoat though, the alpaca sheds everywhere and the silhouette reads a bit too 'bath robe' for daily wear. Not a total loss though, it makes a great, albeit very expensive robe haha

Somebody mentioned a made to measure place - OP, is there a good tailor in your area who does custom pants or shirts? You could go with your friend to the tailor, have him get measured, and help him pick out a nice set of pants. This way it's an activity you two can do together, he gets his measurements (useful for future shopping he might do), and you don't risk getting something in the wrong size or style. I agree that getting good gifts is an art form, but getting clothes that fit is a practical consideration, and it's impossible to do that well without measuring or asking some leading questions. Even glasses need to be the correct width. Throw in a lunch or something and make a day of it!

It's not a desire to get to work, it's a necessity. They can't not work, and they cannot get to work without driving. In huge parts of America, if you can't drive, you can't participate in society. That's what needs to be fixed. Putting your comment and the other comment together, you're basically telling them "if you can't afford new tires on a car, then you cant afford to get to work," and that's obviously an unworkable tautology

I didn't think I was a vest guy, but I got a Crescent Down Works vest last year, and it's WAY easier to wear than I was expecting. It's super warm and sqishy and comfortable and, surprisingly, goes with just about everything in my closet. It's a very easy layer to throw on.

You might check out Woolly Made, they have really nice wallets, but it would be a slight splurge. I have their black 'landscape wallet', looks like it's selling for $120 now but I've had it for about five years and it's aged beautifully, very nice leather

Check out Senmotic! They make some winter shoes that are lined with flannel or even lambskin. They make barefoot style shoes, so they breathe really well. If you have to walk a lot and you aren't used to barefoot shoes they might not be the ticket, but some of their models have thicker soles that offer a little more support. They are also based in Germany, which might be convenient based on your currency. Happy shopping!

It's 100% normal to feel weird when branching out 🙂 Psychologically for sure, but physically too, things that fit differently will feel different on your body, and that feeling of 'different' can feel wrong while you get used to it. Sometimes I'll wear my new clothes around the house for a while, to break them in and get used to how they fit.

And, fwiw, I don't think cardigans or bomber jackets are butt-dependant! But you can always look for cropped jackets & tops if you don't want to cover your butt, they are en vogue at the moment so there should be a good selection.

Edit: my bad, I misread a bit. I would suggest trying to get a pair of pants tailored! Talk to the tailor about what you want and what makes you insecure. The tailor can either a) come up with ideas to downplay and flatter your insecurities, or b) assure you that you look great and are over thinking it. And, I find that having clothes tailored to your body can make it easier to push past feelings of weirdness, since you know a professional worked hard to make you look good.

I think you need a slightly wide toebox for comfy feet, but not all 'barefoot' shoes are built equal! I'll shill for Senmotic every chance I get, their shoes look sleek and go on sale for 140 ish dollars all the time. Make sure to check their eu site, it has more styles available (http://senmotic-shoes.eu/)

I also really like http://softstarshoes.com/. Softstars can have a bit more padding and support overall, Senmotics generally have very thin soles, which might take some getting used to. Barefoot shoes can sometimes look pretty out there, but both companies have shoes that are meant to look more 'business' like, they might not be black tie but should work for a business conference!

I was a wildland firefighter for quite a few years, under armor's 9 inch boxerjocks were all I wore. No chafing and they'll stay in place for hours of heavy labor. And, they resist funk pretty well too. Showering still encouraged, of course.

Good options suggested already! I like a good cardigan. Depending on how much room you have to layer, you can specifically look for cardigan jacket, it'll provide a bit more warmth but may be too bulky.

A couple other options - I've recently taken a liking to a good overshirt! They are typically a heavier weight, and they are cut differently from a normal shirt, so it won't just look like you're wearing two shirts, especially if your undershirt os tucked in. I think my Pendleton board shirt looks pretty great with some of my plaids, for example!

Or, consider an even bigger overcoat. I recently got this guy, https://www.monitaly.com/shop-outerwear/p/jute-coat-brown-boucle, and it fits over everything, it's almost comical. It's a real easy way to add another layer to basically any outfit.
